Letterman Calls Out Seemingly Clueless Justin Bieber After Pop Star Calls Sistine Chapel the ‘Sixteenth Chapel’

Justin Bieber, the 18-year-old pop star, appeared Thursday on CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” to talk about his new CD. On that subject, the tattoo the teen got in honor of this occasion prompted Letterman to warn him of going too far and becoming a mural like the Sistine Chapel.
Bieber’s forehead-in-hand response? “I’m not going for the Sixteenth Chapel.”

Letterman caught the gaffe as Bieber maintained his please-with-himself smile, seemingly oblivious. Letterman’s reasoning for the linguistic mistake? “Canadian high school” — Bieber is Canadian.

Still, one is left wondering if Bieber actually understood the mistake he made as he fist-pounds Letterman at the end of the clip. And did anyone find it odd that Letterman grabbed Bieber seemingly out of nowhere, which seemed to leave Bieber shocked?

This is what the media say we want to see and hear; a child with no experience based in reality being interviewed as if we really care. Difference is see, that when you or I make a mistake we own it. When this punk makes a mistake, even if someone explains it to him later they have a team to smooth it over and at worst they will just give him another record deal to boost his ego out of the toilet if he feels the slightest bit unproductive over it. That is what many (not all) pop stars are. They are hollow, ungrounded egos that have to be fed so they keep producing for the machine. Young people are still looking to these examples and Bleater is just one of a multitude. So when a group of Bleater-want-to-be punks berate and verbally assault an elder woman it does not surprise me that they do it, or that they put it on YouTube. There is lots of sadness in the whole thing, from the non-existent childhood for Bleater to the thousands sometimes millions of misguided kids that follow his light. This is part of the reason why I think Beck is trying to create an alternative. Glad to see someone is trying.

He is a kid, a Canadian Kid, that is so busy with his career and fame, for a lot of years now, that any realistic expectation that he would be aware of “common knowledge” is in many ways unfair. This is why he should have nothing to say about politics and current affairs, a mistake he has made in the past. He is a lovely isolated thing, why pretend that anything he has to say about anything else holds any gravity. This is not disrespect, if anything it should be a relief. How could he possibly be articulate on any subject that is beyond his experience, except as a mouthpiece for his cynical handlers who will use him in the ugliest of ways. I will be more than happy to hear his opinion once he abandons these handlers and their influence.
