Liberal College Students Eager to Redistribute Wealth Are Less Eager to Redistribute Hard Earned Grades

Do you really need a 4.0 GPA? Isn’t that GPA kind of—I don’t know—excessive? Wouldn’t life at your college be fairer and more just if you gave some of your unneeded grade points to another student—a less privileged student—who’s flunking Intro to Psych?

Hey, maybe that student came from a rough background. Maybe he didn’t have the same opportunities that you did. Why not help him out? We’re all compassionate here, are we not?

Via The Daily Caller:

The College Republicans at the University of California-Merced ask fellow students, who support raising taxes on the rich, if they would be willing to redistribute their GPAs. They don’t think it’s a good idea because they earned their grades.

Oh.

Liberal College Students Eager to Redistribute Wealth Are Less Eager to Redistribute Hard Earned Grades

You can watch the hypocrisy of these young and idealistic liberals in action below:

It has been said, that you can pretty much be liberal until you get out of college. If by the time you are 30, if you haven’t converted yourself to being a conservative, you are hopelessly LOST.

You mean like the 30-somethings working at Starbucks that owe 50 grand in student loans for a worthless degree liberals. How about this one worked with a good little liberal 37yo at a major pizza delivery service. He owed 70 grand in student loans. He couldn’t get a job in teaching because of multiple supplying alcohol to underage citations. At this point he had a masters with no job prospects in site. He was continuing education to defer his loan payments. He blamed the man for his problems. He argued the fact that they were legal to vote so they should be able to drink. A grown up 38yo still going to house parties on campus. His level of arrogance was epic. That summer really gave me incite to what Rush had been trying to illustrate. Seems like the ones I worked with that rambled on about liberal ideals worked the least.

      5. If it’s mine, it must NEVER appear to be yours in anyway.

      6. If I’m doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.

      7. If it looks just like mine, it is mine.

      8. If I saw it first, it’s mine.

What is so truth telling is that their train of thought is right up the progressive line. Socialism is great for the promoter of it, as long as they think they will be “in charge”.

They are “in charge” in the GPA hierarchy, not wage earners. They earned those grades and are “at the top” of their class. Take someone in control, like the Democrats on the national level. They are all for Socialism, because they are in charge. However, if you said “we are OK with Socialism, but you cannot be in charge. We are going to run your Socialist system, but you will be of the governed class, not governing.” They would want NO PART OF IT.

Just wait till these little Socialist graduate and see what their little redistrubutive minds think when Uncle Sam hits em up for “everyone elses” share. They are hoodwinking themelves and are to naive to know it. Caught up in the Obamaura of it all.

If I go out and work my butt off every day and sacrafice for my family, it pi$$es me off if my tax $$’s are going to some sit on their rear liberal who sits home and waits for his/her check or for someone else to support them. I have worked my whole life, and this little spoiled brats with little common sense want to take my money and give it to druggies and slugs who sit around and wait for their checks. I can tell you this, they don’t hurt anymore than I do, and they are not anymore “sick” than I am, but they have figured out how to work the system and think they are “smart” for doing so. I am sick of them. The college professors are indoctrinating them into this garbage, which is all part of this “New World Order”…what these liberals in the upper crust want is to make them the RICH folks and all the rest of us are serfs, sitting and waiting on our checks the government deals out…but what will happen when all us “working people” decide that the government is taking to much of our money and gee I think I’ll sit home and just wait for my check too? No one who works is paying in and there is no money left to GIVE to these slugs. Let me tell you, I know them personally…I have some in my own extended family. To many people out there will take anything someone will give them…That is how I see it.

The kids said “where is the other 4, she said that was a tax and then handed out the rest of the gumballs to the kids that watched them. heck yes they want to redistribute the wealth……that’s the socialist way of having someone else pay for their college, bills, and a good bank account to rely on when they graduate, too. The working class can keep on working to replenish their accounts. if they aren’t stopped, that will be the ‘new’ American way. End result? we will then have a nation of poor, none working people who will want to ‘redistribute’ the wealth from other countries.

Yesterday, I commuted to work by subway.

Two guys were playing guitar at subway station. One guy played pretty good guitar (I gave him a dollar), another guy was terrible.

And imagine what? There was a pile of money in front of the first guy and only couple dollars in front of another.

Can you have a better explanation how capitalism works?

      Contrast that with communism:

A teacher in high school did an interesting experiment. Children believed that communism was a good idea, so he said “OK, let’s make communism in our classroom. Let’s combine all grades and split them equally”.

The average grade before the beginning of “communism” was 80. After first test, the average became 75, then 72, then 70,… until everybody failed.

You see, why would anybody work harder, if everybody got the same grade anyway???

How about presenting it this way. You work for a high grade point average in the hopes of graduating at the top of the class. You also hope that this hard work will be rewarded with the opportunity to make good money. So, you get what you work for, and begin making great money, but along the way you pass a threshold set by progressives, and are forced to pay more of your money that you earned in order to give that money to somebody else, who has didn’t earn it for whatever reason. I guess you think that is OK. The fact is, as long as these students are in the position of getting free money via mommy and daddy, or government subsidies, they will stand firmly behind that until it comes out of their pockets. Then listen to them scream.

What a stupid analogy. If the grades were redistributed, who cares? Everyone will sit at a B/C average. People shouldn’t being going to school to get the highest GPA (easily possible by taking Gym every semester) but to gain knowledge. At the end of the day, regardless of the GPA, the brightest students will have learned the most and the dumbest ones will have gained nothing. Isn’t that why people go to school, to learn? This is the problem with our society. If everyone were not so focused on grades (or in the real world ‘money’) people would actually be doing things for passion and intellectual enjoyment. It is reflected in the real world as well. I know plenty of my wealthy friends who don’t work as hard as many of the janitors at the local high school but sit in high rise offices and make phone calls all day and make five times the salary. Who is to judge what working hard is. Everyone works hard at their own job, some people are just not born gifted enough to complete higher order occupations (doctors, lawyers, etc.) but that doesn’t mean they should be punished for it by living near the poverty line. Back to this analogy, if the kids in all the schools across the country had the same grades, the ones with the most knowledge/talent would still succeed in some sense so I would gladly be in favor of grade distribution.

Of cause leave it to the GOP to under value education to support the rich. Question with taxes is are the upper 1% paying their fair share for the services that they receive? Thanks to W. and his cuts, the benefits have been shared by the rich, while the burdens and risks fall to the middle class and working class. W. started to unfunded wars and squandered the Clinton surplus. Again the GOP plan is to place additional burdens on the middle and working class. Its clear from their actions that the GOP operates for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many.

there’s a difference between assessment and earnings. plus, a student with a high GPA doesn’t have increased opportunities to take advantage of a student with a low GPA. i think this is a flawed comparison. i’m a student myself with parents who can easily afford my tuition. a portion of that tuition goes towards programs for students with financial difficulties. i’m fine with that. wouldn’t a better question be asking if the students are okay with a rise in tuition to help cover the costs of those who otherwise might not be able to afford to attend?

When I was an E-4 in the Air Force, back in the 80′s, my wife had to stop working for about 6 months when our child was born, I lived in base housing, but we barely were able to pay the bills, buy food and gas. I had a Sgt. who told me to go apply for food stamps, I worked a second job just so I didn’t have to do that.

My Dad was laid off for a time and I can still remember him talking about how ashamed he was that we received food stamps for a short time.

That’s the point! The grades are not yours to rdistribute. I think it would be much better just to decide what is mine is mine, what is yours is yours, and no one has a right to take what is mine and give it to some one else who may or may not have made any effort. Unfortunately, people are people and will seek to get the most for doing the least. Most will even be conditioned to believe that it is their right to be “taken care of”.

It’s an interesting analogy, and to a point it’s fair. There are two distinctions that bear noting: 1. hypothetically, every student could be getting a 4.0. Finance works out to a much more zero-sum game, meaning in order for me to get a 4.0 20 people need to get a 1.5 or something like that. If you asked someone “if you have 5 grade points, how do you think they’re best split”, and they said i want 4 and they can have 1, that would be a better demonstration. 2. I think most of those students would agree to assisting poor students, and would be willing to give up some time to help poorer students to do better. It doesn’t mean people are selfish, it just means people don’t see why they need to share an infinite resource.

      - How do the Dems plan to pay off the debt ? = Tax the rich…
      - How do the Dems plan to cover Social Security ? = Tax the rich…
      - How do the Dems plan to cover Medicaid/Medicare ? = Tax the rich…
      - How do the Dems plan to balance the budget ? = Tax the rich…
      - How do the Dems plan to cover Obamacare ? Tax the rich…

I see a pattern here and eventually they would run out of everyone else’s money. The Dems are creating the war on classes and there plan is to make everyone the same (get rid of the middle and upper classes).

You got to laugh at all these hypocrits who keeps saying that it’s different…here what‘s different it’s their grade is something they earned and since wealth redistribution is redistributing something someone else earned they fine with it. some could argue that alot of rich people are born into money so they didn‘t have to work so hard but then some could argue that some peopel are more with more intelligence and don’t have to work as hard for their grade as well…. In the end we see the true color of these hypocrits and I coould watch hours of these people skirmingh to justify their hording of their earned GPA from the less advantage while supporting the redistribution of money that others worked hard and sacrificed to earn.

This is news, what the students should have titled the piece the true meaning of SELFISHNESS. Being selfish in one area and not another still makes you a selfish person, we all are. The students kept saying that the analogy was not valid because it involved grades not money, I beg to differ. Being selfish is being selfish, that is what the authors was trying to correlate in their argument. How can one be selfish about their grades but be generous with someone else’s earnings? That to me is selfish. Yes, this is news because it opens the door to how educators in colleges sway the opinions of young people, by keeping them in the mindset of immature thinking on life. It is immature to look at someone else’s situation in life and covet what they have because you or someone else do not have it. If students who were failing in college formed a group to really ask for other peoples points from their GPA, what would these professors say? I would venture to guess they would say that those students were thinking in an unrealistic and selfish manor, but they will not see the beam of it in their own eyes while they are teaching.

we think they should be put in jail if they don’t redistrubute their grades, this is only fair, just because other students sit on the porch and sleep that is no reason not to redistrubute others grades so that they get at least a B

OK this was a good example HOWEVER.. the arguments for it could have been better..FIRST they should have pointed out how IF someone has a HIGH GPA they are obviously working TO HARD.. therefore.. they should NOT keep those grades they should be given to those THAT DON‘T WANT to work as hard and would prefer to PARTY therefore don’t have the same discipline as you or believe studying is a waste of their time..
Than when they say NO ask them IF they plan on getting a good paying job BECAUSE they worked so hard on their GPA .. I do beleive they would answer YES.. Than ask IF they will work hard? again a YES.. THAN ask them IF they think someone with a lower GPA.. should qualify to make as much as they would doing a lessor job? IF they answer YES than ask them WHY they are studying so hard cause it won’t make a difference.. .. IF they answer NO than ask them WHY when they are MAKING a nice pay check the government should TAKE their money and give it to the guy with the LOW GPA who partied and didn’t study .. they are LOSING the connection between earning GRADES and WHY they want to earn those good grades.. and what the government wants to do with the money they earn from the job they are studying hard to get…WAKE THEM UP

anniyan428 your comment was completely moronic in much the same way as your blast to another commentator. First students in fact care a great deal about their GPA and for good reason, their GPA represents a multitude of accomplishments earned through hard work and commitment. Second the very idea of stealing from one and given to another is in itself “unfair”. Only a liberal mind would surmise the process to which one steals and redistribute wealth or even one’s GPA to anyone for any reason is aligned with the democratic process.

That would create a serious violation to the constitution, meaning you would have to work harder while they hardley work. This is not compatible to a democracy, it also angers me to hear the ignorance of these idiotic students in tandem with hypocrisy.

For life to exist there must also be competition, it’s this competitive drive that forces the best and the brightest this world has to offer, so I ask how can life evolve and grow should all things be exactly the same while lacking encouragment to be better? We would become stagnant and stuck. It is entirely unjust to steal from people and then take that stolen property and give it to someone to which it doesn’t belong.

Liberals are so contrived and myopic.

gpa isn’t used to buy goods and services like money, gpa is a gauge of success, money is a gauge of work, redistribution’s purpose is to help make the middle & low class more comfortable into making purchases aka fuel the economy.the whole nation has to be able to pay their bills before they can spend money on things they don’t need (ex. baseball tickets, sunglasses, cool shoes).companies that sell novelties & niche products are the ones that get hit first, these companies need their market back….redistribution is designed to help all in the long run, a everyone benefits when people start buying comfortably again… gradually all companies benefit, a rising economy, and when this happens the rich bank the biggest because they own the companies and move the products… not all of rich people have a huge income tax because their income isn’t big annually (they inherited money, hit big one year or two years with a good one time opportunity/deal, lotto)……….which shows.not every rich person earns their money by hard work….. some people work hard with multiple jobs and struggle……the title of this article is so self-righteous.
