Liberal Wis. Group Sends Voters Names and Addresses of Their Neighbors to Shame Them Into Voting in Recall

A liberal Wisconsin group is apparently circulating mailers to registered voters with the names and voting histories of their neighbors to get them to turn out in Tuesday’s recall election against Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
“Scott Walker won in 2010 because too many people stayed home!” reads the letter from the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund, which was obtained by The Blaze. The group is the political spending arm of the Greater Wisconsin Committee and is not affiliated with any candidate. The Greater Wisconsin Committee describes itself as engaging in “grassroots lobbying on critical Wisconsin issues to promote a progressive public policy agenda.”
“The chart shows the names of some of your neighbors, showing which have voted in the past,” the mailer states. “Look at the list below; are there neighbors on this list you know? Call them or knock on their door before Election Day, and ask them to go vote on Tuesday, June 5th.”
It adds in a somewhat ominous tone, “After the June 5th election, public records will tell everyone who voted and who didn’t.”
The letter states all voter data came from the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, which oversees the state’s elections. A form on the agency’s website may be used to request such data for purchase.
According to the Associated Press, the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund has spent $4.8 million on the recall effort.
Ann Althouse, a law professor at the University of Wisconsin, wrote on her blog Friday that she’d received the same mailing from the group at her Madison home.
“This is an effort to shame and pressure people about voting, and it is truly despicable,” Althouse wrote. “Your vote is private, you have a right not to vote, and anyone who tries to shame and an harass you about it is violating your privacy, and the assumption that I will become active in shaming and pressuring my neighbors is repugnant.”
An emailed request for comment to the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund was not immediately returned.

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 9:33pmAs a Republican I would send out mail to the people on the list, showing them, that their name is on the list, ans telling them, that if someone comes knocking on their door, to tell them, they need to vote for Walker, and get rid of the bullying tactics of the unions. Or they could put up no trespassing signs, and call the police and have them arrested. Union thuggery at it’s best. This is why unions need to go. Their time has come and gone and those in charge don’t want to get off the gravy train. If the Union was so damn good, why do they have to FORCE dues, it seems that everyone would willingly flock to it, begging for them to take their money.

Posted on June 3, 2012 at 2:32amAmen. So sick of divisive tactics. Those who can see thru the BS of the left, stand with reality & common civility (which allows each to his own – while fostering they who cannot help themselves), will vote w/ their head & heart. Those who are lead by “inequality & racism“ are destined to vote by desire for ”the greater good”, ie: Govt. must have given, therefore Govt. can surely redistribute.
So soon we will see the suckling piglets drain the dwindling sows.
The sadness is : They have no idea that what they strive for will become the ruin of us all.

The first time I voted Republican was after 4 years of Carter. The UAW and my union AFLCIO were pushing full steam ahead for 4 more years of Carter. Half of Detroit was laid off yet the union was praising Carter.. A new car in Texas was 21% interest and 17% on a new home. I told my wife that 4 more years of Carter and we would be using Russian Rupels as money. Thang goodness those UAW members voted with their brains and not party lines. Well being a good Democrat, I + wife+3 sons and 3 daughter in-laws all fell for Hope & Change. Don’t like change(It’s affected us all) and there is no Hope!

We will be able to stop him. THIS TUESDAY is a hugely important election to stop Obama. I hope all of us who know anyone in Wisconsin will forward this information about UNION INTIMIDATION to their friends/relatives/business associates in WISCONSIN right now. There is a place for people to band together to make sure they aren’t taken advantage of, but UNIONS have taken it so much further..they are the very ones taking advantage. I love the idea of right-to-work States; I love the idea of never using Union $ for donations themselves. They can suggest candidates, but not take your money automatically ! I love the idea of not allowing Unions to automatically deduct their dues from your salaries. Good Grief!! Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire! IF Unions had done their job, making sure places were safe to work and employees got a fair hearing that’s one thing, but to raise the cost of doing business just so UNION LEADERS could get as rich as possible and the automatic donations to campaigns. Nope. Again: Greed.

In the county I live in (S. Oklahoma) our unemployment for April dropped from 3.7% to 3.5% and the state dropped to 5.0%. I know folks say that the job they did in NYC paid $250,000 a year but you paid 60% in taxes. My wife watches those showes where a couple have to decide between 3 houses to buy. A $60,000 home here will cost $475,000 in DC or $600,000 in NYC because our cost of living is so much lower.

Any governor that would come in and do what he did should be recalled according to the teachers. I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for teachers in Wisconsin and I care nothing about their union. They pay their union rep in the County that we live in almost 200 thousand a year and they wonder where their dues go!!! For what, they can only get a raise if they teach for so many years, does not matter if you are the best or the worst teacher, you get paid the same. Posted on June 4, 2012 at 7:33pmI’d think the GOP plan should just be to play and replay that awesome sound-bite from Obama in 2009…you know, the one where he said “Elections have consequences, and we won”, that was very fitting for the Walker recall situation.
Report Post »Asking what the GOP’s plan is to keep an elected governor in office 2 years before a reelection bid is about as smart as saying Obama beat George Bush in the Presidential race, I saying that a defendant in a trial has to prove innocence.
The burden of proof as it were, is on those who’ve basically said “WI voters are too stupid to make a decision the first time, so we want a do-over, a mulligan.”
Meanwhile, the adults in the room are still waiting for a reason for this recall. Walker promised exactly what he’s delivered when campaigning, so the only justification for this recall is that WI voters DON’T want a Gov. who does what he says, they must want a Gov. who says one thing and does another.
I won’t vote for Obama for a single reason: He said if elected, he’d close Gitmo on the first day. He didn’t. Therefore, he lied to me for his own benefit. If he was my employee, I’d have fired him on the spot, because I don‘t employ liars I can’t trust, especially when they’re unapologetic. If you tolerate people in your employ lying to you, then good luck with that, and you deserve the consequences.

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 7:44pmIf you are suggesting that Eric Holder should look into it, don’t hold your breath.
This is nothing compare to what HIS f’g people put up with!
Holder will tell you to go suck it.

Posted on June 3, 2012 at 12:14amIf gun-toting thugs in front of a voting precinct did not count as voter intimidation, this will not even cause and intake of breath.
Report Post »Will be interesting to see how many of this “names” vote in the recall election as opposed to the people who carry that name and live on the specified streets.

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 7:40pmIt’s mostly the same here in Missouri, but we’re often more polite:
“Hey, how are you? Not sure how you know if I voted or not, but you are trespassing, and since I just warned you, if you don’t get of my lawn, I will be f-ing shooting you as per state law. Have a great day…and don’t come back.”
And to your detractors, often the dog with the biggest bark is trying it’s best to get you to leave it alone, you know, so it doesn’t kill you. Kind of like how so many homeowners have found out that even telling an intruder 3 or more times that you‘ll shoot them unless they leave usually doesn’t work until you actually shoot them. Oh well, natural selection in action.

Posted on June 4, 2012 at 7:46pmThe HBO show “Boardwalk Empire” had a very good portrayal of voting in the 1920′s as well.
I remember just the other day my dad was telling the story from his childhood of his mother voting in rural West Virginia, circa 1950′s….on election day she would go vote at whichever precinct gave you a quart of whiskey when you voted, usually Democrats, then she’d go across town to the other precinct and sell her vote again to the Republicans for another quart of whiskey. Hopefully that’s changed since then, but any time someone tells me voter fraud doesn’t exist I pull out my deed to the Brooklyn Bridge and offer them the deal of a lifetime.

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 7:38pmThis mailing stands a VERY good chance of blowing up in the face of those that mailed them out – I can easily imagine this mailer provoking a “silent majority” to vote, and it‘s anyone’s guess as to the political stripes of those roused from their (political) slumber.
I suspect that everyone that will ever get energized about recalling Walker have, and that the folks sitting on the sidelines are (for the most part) disinterested in participating. Once the “crazies” start hounding them to vote, I suspect many will vote to end this recall madness by voting for Walker, hopefully stopping this constant re-hashing and perpetual temper tantrum the left is throwing now because the public worker unions can’t collectively bargain for salary and benefits.
Have the WI public worker unions EVER worked to lower salaries/benefits, thereby lowering taxes or have they always looked to increase salaries and benefits, driving taxes up? Which will most folks support?

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 7:24pmIf lived in Wisconsin and didn’t intend to vote for Governor Walker I would do so after receiving this list. So far they don’t know who you vote for.

Posted on June 2, 2012 at 7:21pmTypical rabid leftist liberals in this state. I hope there are grounds for lawsuits against them. I don’t normally like lawsuits, but this is about what they did, not making money.
