According to National Journal, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas will be running for president in 2012:
Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, whose outspoken libertarian views and folksy style made him a cult hero during two previous presidential campaigns, will announce on Tuesday that he’s going to try a third time.
Sources close to Paul, who is in his 12th term in the House, said he will unveil an exploratory presidential committee, a key step in gearing up for a White House race. He will also unveil the campaign’s leadership team in Iowa, where the first votes of the presidential election will be cast in caucuses next year.
Paul, 75, ran as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988, finishing with less than one half a percent of the vote. After more than a decade as a Republican congressman, Paul gave it another shot in the 2008 presidential election, gaining attention for being the only Republican candidate calling for the end to the war in Iraq and for his “money bomb” fundraising strategy, which brought in millions of dollars from online donors in single-day pushes.

Posted on April 26, 2011 at 7:46amwhen are people going to finally realize that every politician is just like another. what do you think is more important to this old crank. making things better for us or securing his position. getting as much time under his belt and retiring in splendor. every politician out there has the same desire. to stay in office as long as possible and secure their own futures. paul, bachman, palin, schumer, pelosi. they are all the same. until we finally tell these people that they are going to have something to lose, we will be the losers. every problem we have in this country is the direct result of politicians making our decisions for us. we have turned them into celebrities who believe we vote for them because they are smarter than we are and need to make our decisions for us. we allow them to get in front of the cameras in their thousand dollar suits and five hundred dollar haircuts and tell us how much they want to do whats best for us. when a politician says he wants what is best for us, look out. i don’t do crimes because i have something to lose. yet we vote for people who have made sure over the years to make sure that whatever crimes they commit , they don’t have to worry. beware of the politician who says nobody is above the law, because they have made sure that they are above the punishment. to hell with them all. anarchy is a better alternative than these so-called leaders.

Herman Cain announced first and seemed to talk the best talk. Certainly better than The Donald who is simply a joker with a get richer scheme. Your assumption that i’d pick any man for his color is just insulting. If we get a RHINO the best is a stagnation of where were at. Nothing of any consequence gets done. The leftest reload and will do more damage and the fight will have been lengthened by many years. This is a time for a fearless conservative President who can rally the country back towards freedom and smaller government while being able to explain like Reagan what he is doing.
If we lose at least the fight will be moving in a direction all be it bad. Stagnation will get some of the people used to the changes and to stop fighting hard or at all.

Posted on April 25, 2011 at 10:12pmOk, then I shall try to gather my “stream-of-conscious” post and get the gist to you again.
Impeaching obama at this point would only remove him, and leave the rest of the cabinet to continue the policies of destroying the Constitutution. Nothing changes. The only way to successfully remove an entire cabinet and start over is for a Constitutional Congress to be called and an amendment to be successfully declared. This can only be done by (I believe) 2/3rds of the states’ Governors, if not 3/4ths. The scary thing is once that Congress is conveined, ANYTHING can be changed in the Constitution.
Report Post »I was saying that MY Congressman, Mike Pence, would be my first choice for President, but instead he is running for Governor of Indiana, and we need strong Governors more than we even need control of both the House and the Senate, as the 10th amendment clearly gives the states power over the Fed

He’ll lose, he knows he doesn’t have a chance, but he wants to inject his ideas into the discussion. Perhaps he’s also paving the way for his son in 2016. But whatever the case I‘m glad he’s throwing his hat into the ring, if only as a gesture.

Like Ross Perot did in ‘96.
Like Ralph Nader did in ‘00 (for the dems….and thank GOD for that. As bad as Bush was, imagine if Gore were President….)
So take your pathetic scheme to persuade us (20 months prior) to give Paul a look to split our votes and ensure that socialistic tyranny prevails until we are all dead and those in the know are all rich and living on their own private islands as China dictates policy to United Staes Citizens.

Oh, I totally agree. I think Paul is enough of a Patriot that he would NOT allow himself to be “power-hungry” enogh to usurp the elections in favor of what we have now, but that doesn’t mean JZS is smart enough to figure that one out. I want Ron Paul in EVERY presidential election cycle to give the stark facts and truth as to what is truely going on in the world and in America financially. That is why I want Ron Paul as the Fed Chair or the Treasury Secretary so he can go in and wipe clean all that BS that is truely ruining our country. His skill set demands that those are the best places to do the most good for our country.

Seriously folks, the RP folks are going to put on the hard sell again and that’s all fine and dandy. I just hope they realize much sooner than later that RP does NOT thrill the average voter. I just pray that he will be put on the next presidents cabinet so he can go after the Fed. We love ya Ron, but we need someone that can beat Obama. I expect the Dems in concert with every anti-American group in this country will be playing hard-ball this time around. And I don’t mean hard-ball like that weazel Matthews. This is going to be the roughest, bloodiest, most crooked, election in our history. We will need a man or woman that can stand in the fire and take the heat from every direction 24/7/365.

This is NOT about the lesser of two evils this time. This time its about beating Obama, and in my opinion Ron Paul has no chance against the Obama machine. The left will help get him chosen as our primary winner only to mock him endlessly for being the crazy-old-coot. They will sell it because people will buy it. There is NOTHING that Ron Paul can do to combat that tactic that is sure to be used. “There is one single imperative goal for 2012 that is removing Obama from the White House!”
It’s hard to respond to this because Obama should already have been impeached. And if you think that even if we get rid of this Marxist that he will not continue to aid our enemies in their pursuit of the destruction of America, then you don‘t understand Obama’s intent.
That said, there is also the goal of making sure that no one elected gets away with violating our Constitution. We cannot afford even a RINO. We are that close to the end of America.
Ron Paul must get the election. Like someone else said, he is closest to our Founders in his adherence to our Constitution.

Look, I LOVE Ron Paul and think he is one scrappy dude, and would be at his best if he were the Fed Chair or the SecTres, but I don’t like him as President. i just don’t.
But if YOU, CLASS2000 like him, and this goes for everyone who likes a canidate, then don’t let one issue cloud that. Unless you yourself runs, then you will NEVER have a canidate which EXACTLY fills all your requirements. What you should do is make a list (same as with your requirements for a relationship) of “dealbreakers” and rank them in tiers. If a canidate breaks 1 tier one requirement then he/she is done…2-3 tier two, done. and on and on. But to disqualify someone arbitrarily for one thing without having these requirements in mind is not productive, and is what keeps people from the primary/caucus polls when it is so important to participate. Voting then is as important as voting for the end game. Otherwise you end up with a John McCain. And then the Tyrrant-in-Chief.

Besides Ron Paul, which republican presidential candidate promises to do the following:
Quit kicking around little countries in multiple undeclared wars for questionable results.
End the unconstitutional drug war and resultant unconstitutional creeping police state.
End the unconstitutional Patriot Act.
End the airport fondlings.
End the Federal Reserve and its militarized collection agency, the IRS.
What supposedly liberty-loving republican candidate wants to do these things?
I like some things about some republican candidates, but I want a guy who follows ALL of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, not just the easy stuff. Primary season is when we get to fight amongst ourselves, and I’m a little disappointed that so many are ready to go ugly early when it comes to compromising principles in return for getting a candidate that looks more like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Or John McCain…
It’s a shame, but not very unusual to see folks saying that we need to stop talking about Ron Paul in the comments section of an article on Ron Paul. People sure are scared of him, and apparently it isn’t just the Marxists.
I further submit to all that if you think we need all the aforementioned unconstitutional garbage in the name of stopping terror, you are a scared little coward. You are more likely to be hit by lightning than killed by a terrorist. Trading your liberty for security doesn’t stop terrorism, but being less interventionist might.

You are 100% correct, Ron Paul embodies and embraces all these things, but a populous in a single-minded animal. And he cannot be elected. I too believe in all things espoused by Ron Paul, and would love for him to be a part of the next administration, but as I said before, he is NOT electable. he is perceived as too radical and almost hysterical, and doesn’t possess the “it” as a President. This is sad, because I too believe he has the ideals and courage and commitment to be a great savior of this Nation. He just lacks the “it”.
I called Col. West’s office today and told the staffer that Col. West is the George Wasghington that we need to be the next President, and the staffer informed me that he is not running.
I asked the staffer to ask Col. West to pray on this and he told me that the message would be passed.
