Libya Claims Woman Whose Shock Rape Account Stunned World Is Now Free

  • Libyan government says alleged rape victim Iman al-Obeidi is now free
  • Her shock account of being raped by Gadhafi troops was cut short by gov’t minders yesterday
  • Gov’t minders snatched her away against her will as she told foreign journalists her story
  • She says rapists “tied me up … they even defecated and urinated on me”

The Libyan government says a woman who stormed into a Tripoli hotel Saturday to tell foreign reporters that government troops raped her is now with her family.

The government says four men were interrogated in the case, including the son of a high-ranking police officer.

Government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim alleged that the woman, Iman al-Obeidi, was a prostitute who refused to accept medical examination, and that she is now with her sister in the Libyan capital.

Her shocking account to foreign journalists of being tortured and gang-raped by Gadhafi forces was cut short by government minders in a melee yesterday.

Al-Obeidi was tackled by waitresses and government minders as she told her story to journalists after rushing into the hotel where many are staying. She claimed loudly that troops had detained her at a checkpoint, tied her up, abused her, then led her away to be gang-raped.

In the middle of her account, al-Obeidi was snatched away by government minders, who put her in a car and drove away from the hotel. Al-Obeidi was taken against her will and feared that she was being sent to prison.

Earlier, hundreds of women marched in Benghazi, Libya, protesting the treatment of al-Obeidi.

Libyan women in Benghazi bravely rallied in support of al-Obeidi:

The Blaze reported on the tragic plight of al-Obeidi yesterday.

Before she was dragged out of the hotel, al-Obeidi managed to tell journalists that she was detained by a number of troops at a Tripoli checkpoint on Wednesday. She said they were drinking whiskey and handcuffed her. She said 15 men later raped her.

“They tied me up … they even defecated and urinated on me,” she said, her face streaming with tears. “The Gadhafi militiamen violated my honor.”

The world is shocked because it’s linked with Ghadaffi, anything to justify the war. I pray this poor woman recovers and is kept safe from harm. I can‘t imagine what it’s like over there, it’s too scary.

Propaganda, propaganda, propaganda. The world is going to hell in a handbasket. People of America, If you would remain a free people, prepare yourselves for the fight of your lives. Look at what’s going on here. There are uprisings in every corner of the globe. Even here in the USA (i.e. WI) Prepare for the worse and pray for the best. It’s time to start, if you haven’t already, to collect food, water, guns and ammo. Make a plan with family and/or friends to get to a “safe” place to join up and fight or survive this coming war. Some people here in the US think this is just another reality t.v. show and it will not effect them. That is wrong headed and will get you killed. All we can do is prepare. Please America, prepare and get ready for WWIII. It’s going to be right here on our doorstep. God bless American and good luck.

I’m not saying the woman is lying. But I don’t think the rebels are saints.
Do some research to see how gangs of young rebels treat black immigrants in Libya.
It’s not pretty. A story the MSM will not tell.

I want to know what Obama/NATO will do when the rebels start to brutalize the civilians, men, women, children that support Gaddafi. I think some of those punks riding around shooting their guns are every bit as vilolent and bloodthirsty as Gaddafi.

The MSM will do anything to protect Obama, they will pick and choose which stories to tell.

True or not, does this give any other country to “right” to shoot missiles at another? The President and his advisers had better come up with more compelling arguments to justify this “kinetic military action”. Should we decry the atrocities happening in Libya? Absolutely. Should we offer humanitarian aid? Absolutely. Do we have the “right” to take down a country’s government with only the facts presented? I dont think so.

While I have no doubt Gaddafi’s thugs could and actually do this kind of evil, and even that this woman was in fact abused in the worst ways, I also have no difficulty believing the Al-Qaeda rebels could set this up.

I’m seeing a trend here, as in Egypt oppressed women are being set up and martyrs, then after the power shift the business as usual abuse of women continues.

There is powerful evil in this part of the world and it is supported by the extreme radical Muslim men that abuse their female population. These are also the same types of people that would put bombs on children to kill their enemies, so putting a woman out to be abused and then to use that for political effect, well we should EXPECT that kind of thing by now, and add that the twist that it is the women in Obama’s administration that are driving the agenda, and this make perfect sense for the rebels.

If you ever traveled to MENA you would have answered your own question. The ppl from that region are magicians with technology. I had a process done to my photos in a cubby hole of a photo store in N Africa. I returned to the states and went to a national camera chain store and asked them to do the same process…”not possible, the equipment is $20,000 and it would takes awhile to get it done even if we had it” Mine was done overseas in 10 mins. I don’t question how they got it done at all

MENA is an unlikely travel destination for most Americans so we wouldn’t understand the quick print turn around time. However, it is nice to know they’re technological magicians which explains why all of the MENA demonstrators we see on the news have professional looking posters for their demonstrations. Imagine $20,000 for specialized printing equipment in a MENA country and printing shops in the USA can’t afford it.
