Libyan Rebels Claim Rape, Torture Were Captured on Gadhafi Loyalists’ Cell Phones

Rape as a tool of war? This is becoming a reality in Libya.

According to rebels, soldiers loyal to Gadhafi have used sexual assault and torture as weapons against women in the nation’s ongoing war. Journalists have suspected for some time that rape may be a “tool” employed by military officers, but the most recent revelations coming out of the tattered nation are numbing.

The rebels report that Libyan soldiers have been using cell phones to capture their heinous crimes. The following CNN report discusses these revelations, while including a video that allegedly shows a Libyan woman being sexually abused (caution: graphic).

Sadly, rape is such a taboo in Libya that even the rebels are anxious to dispose of the evidence. The embarrassment that would result from the crime being made public would apparently bring too much shame for the women involved. Thus, justice may not be a reality for the victims.     I guess this is the “Arab Spring” that Obambi is referring to. You know, the spring to action and let’s rape some women sort of “Arab Spring.”

    And now Obambi has ordered some of our troops to go to Libya and he’s escalating this illegal war. He’s made all our laws and the Congress irrelevant!

    US Special Forces units based at Fort Hood, Texas, have been told to prepare for deployment to Libya no later than July, according to a US military source. The Special Forces would then be followed in September or October by heavy armored units of the First Cavalry Division, currently located in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with other components of the US III Corps.

    The reporter asks why they detroyed evidence? In their culture they don’t need evidence to prosecute or kill somebody. What is she thinking? I really liked how she used the word “conservative” to describe the culture….typical liberal propaganda, rest assured it was not a mistake.

    I couldn’t watch it and could only listen for a few seconds. I raised four daughters.

    I have heard of these atrocities in war for many years and have read of similar treatment of the vanquished in many historical account for millenium. It is barbaric and dehumanizing. I for one would vote for just a little more than castration. Let’s remove the offending member entirely. Make it so the perpetrator has to sit to pee. Just taking out the protate is not good enough.

    I only watched about the first 5 seconds of the cell phone video. You cant see much but the sound is enough. How can they claim their religion is peaceful? Though not much surprises me any more, this continues to boggle my mind. Satan is the father of lies, I suppose is the answer. And he’s working through Islam.

    We don‘t know that this woman or other women have been raped by Gaddfi’s men. They could have been raped by the rebels and some may not have been raped at all. This is matter for the Libyan people not us to be involved in at all. War is hell and that is and understatment and there are no rules dispite what people think.

    This is more than I can bare to listen to. God help this woman. Some muslim women around my town have treated me poorly, but then I see something like this, remember how brainwashed and abused they are, and I feel sorry for them. I am going to make a commitment to smile with kindness at them more often.

    There is nothing civil about war. The sooner we figure that out, the sooner we’ll start taking the topic seriously. I am opposed to our being involved in Libya, and we don‘t know who we’re actually supporting, but so long as we are interfering without a clear plan, we are partly responsible for the brutality that they face on the ground. By not allowing them to fight their war, all we are doing is prolonging their suffering while putting our credibility in the region in jeopardy. It’s a lose-lose situation, and it needs to end.

      In all wars, each side accuses the other of atrocity. (Sun Tsu, 700BC?) What is the chance that “someone” found a cell phone on a battle field and that that cell phone contained a video of a war crime on it?

      I choose to believe that it is to the benefit of the rebels to have me and us sympathize with them over the loyalists and either side, when it gets the chance will gut an American from throat to navel and then smoke a doobie.

      It’s all about HONOR in the Muslim world. If a woman is raped, she must have done something to deserve it, so they believe. This brings shame on her family. Often, it is a family member who rapes the girl and then if she complains, she must be killed. There is no way out for women in Muslim society. They MUST be virgins when they marry and even if, in some countries, they are seen by a brother just TALKING to an unrelated male, the brother can kill her…and be congratulated for it since he preserved the honor of the family/tribe. One young teenage girl was drowned in her swimming pool by her father (Saudi Arabia) because a neighbor had looked out his upper window and saw her swimming in a bikini. The top had briefly come undone and he saw her breast, claimed she did it on purpose, complained to the father…the rest is history. The pool was surrounded by a high wall but he was able to see over the wall from his window. Truly a sick society where women are less than nothing.

    Historically we can look back on rounding up the Japanese and Germans during World War II as a mistake, and in many ways I would agree, but I’m willing to make the same mistake and live with the historical condemnation. Muslims should be rounded up and kicked out of America, plain and simple.

    the real term we need to use to describe these areas and culture are savages, animals, and 6th world era missing links

    …………………….sounds like the perfect one way destination for our liberal friends. since they want to make improvements to the world, let them start there. when they fix that area, then maybe we will consider letting them fix our part of the world.

      Interesting the hypocrisy of the left is it not? Note I speak with total sarcasm directed at Mr Obama and his allies/cronies…

      When Bush was in office, daily they howled about war crimes and attrocities being commited; even when it was proven they did not happen or the enemy was the one commiting them.

      Now, Obama’s rebel – terrorist allies and (in the case of Brother Quaddafi) the Libyan armed forces; not one peep comes about.

      This fight for Libya is not just for the land, or the Caliphate so many want there. It is about the natural gas and oil to Europe, and for one more part; to gain Tunisia and Libya is to secure the road to Algeria and her network (and two LNG ports) that lead into Europe as well.

      This just goes to show how ugly a civil war becomes; the two sides try to outdo the other in violence and manipulation of the media to gain moral superiority over the other in the eyes of the world.

      What so many people do not understand is that these women who are raped by either side are at severe risk of an honor killing being done to them from family or community to expunge their shame.
