The Libyan rebels fighting to overthrow Moammar Gadhafi have joined forces with a top D.C. lobbying firm to further their cause, The Hill reported.
Patton Boggs, perennially the top-earning K Street firm, is lobbying for the rebels to be accepted as the “legitimate government of the sovereign nation of Libya,” according to documents filed this week with the Justice Department.
The firm signed a contract with the Interim Transitional National Council of Libya to provide “advice and assistance on U.S.-Libya bilateral relations,” according to the documents.
Patton Boggs signed the agreement with Ali Suleiman Aujali, the Council’s representative to the United States. Aujali resigned as ambassador to Libya after Gadhafi tried to quell the uprising and started to advocate for the opposition group, which is based in Benghazi, Libya.
Other than formal recognition, the Transitional National Council also wants access to the frozen funds from Gadhafi’s regime that are being held by the United States.
According to The Hill, the contract stipulates Patton Boggs will receive a fee of not more than $50,000 per month, but the firm said the fees might not be paid at first.

Posted on July 2, 2011 at 5:21pmWow, and all this time I assumed that Barack H. Obama and Hillary Clinton were already in the employ of radical Islamist throughout Africa.
Report Post »Do you suppose this means that Barry and Hillary are giving up their gigs?
Presume that Barry is funneling a major grant to the terrorist so they will be able to afford he and his friends to front for them in D.C.
Isn‘t it wonderful when you have a president that just can’t find enough criminal activities to fund inside the country so he graciously reaches out to fund international terrorist organizations on our behalf.
Amazing how generous Barry is with other peoples money. Notice that when it came to persona charitable donations he and the wife are almost a cheap as the family of the VP… But, then he makes up for it by funding lots of domestic and international criminal activities with taxpayer money.

Posted on July 2, 2011 at 3:11pmThis is said that a loving firm would represent a bunch terrorist to lobby our government. As far as I’m concerned that is very close to treason. You would think that the no lobbying company would take such a client with such a background. I guess those days are gone and that’s sad, sad times we live in nowadays.
The way I see it the Obama administration is one of the most corrupt administrations that this country has ever seen and I pray to God that that is not the last one too.

Posted on July 2, 2011 at 2:20pmIt is bad enough that the President, Mr Obama started the war in Libya in the first place when the rebels started rising against Quadafi; what I find reprehensable beyond approach is the fact the US is still flying combat missions according to Air Force sources.
Lood on the front page news of the Drudge Report entitled “US still bombing Libya.”
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2010505/Air-Force-Navy-flying-thousands-missions-Libya-Obama-says-U-S-playing-limited-role.html
Mr Obama has violated his oath repeatedly on this matter; upsurged Congressional authority and now must face impeachment immediatly.

Posted on July 2, 2011 at 1:46pmLobbying firms are merely bag men, made up of Washington D.C. insiders and ex-politicians looking to cash in on their many years of public service by using their connections to influence current lawmakers. And that “influence” is usually in the form of campaign contributions. It’s basically legal bribery. How else does a firm “lobby” a politician to think their client’s way? Washington D.C. is such a swamp. These firms will represent anybody, even if they are against American interests. It’s disgusting and anybody leaving office should have to wait a period equal to half the time they spent in office before being allowed to become a lobbyist. That would make lifetime politicos, who have the most power and connections, virtually unable to become lobbyists. Of course, when it comes to Washington D.C., the clowns are running the circus so real reform like that will never happen.
