Lieberman Unable to Attend Restoring Courage Jerusalem Event

Lieberman Unable to Attend Restoring Courage Jerusalem EventSen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) will not be attending Glenn Beck’s Restoring Courage event in Jerusalem next week, a spokesperson for the senator said Friday.

“Because of a family commitment, Sen. Lieberman will regrettably not be able to attend the Restoring Courage rally which Glenn Beck and others are holding in Jerusalem, Israel on August 24,” a Lieberman spokesperson told Washington Jewish Week.

Lieberman first announced his intention to attend the event, schedule permitting, during an appearance on Beck’s Fox News show in June. In subsequent discussions, the senator’s attendance was never definite.

Lieberman, who is Jewish, was a longtime member of the Democratic Party before switching to become an independent. He has long been an ardent supporter and defender of Israel.

“Sen. Lieberman supports this event and wishes he could be there in person to express his support for a secure and free Israel, for Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, and for a rock-solid U.S.-Israel relationship based on shared, eternal values and common current interests and enemies,” the spokesperson said.

Lieberman’s announcement comes one day after Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) told Beck the House Ethics Committee barred members of Congress from attending the event. On Friday, however, Walsh said that after a follow-up conversation with the Committee where he clarified the event’s purpose, he could be cleared to go.

Family does come first as we do not know what may have come up so I am not going to judge. I will take the opportunity to say I am sure there are a lot of places Glenn would rather be also. Because of the times and what is going on with Israel however there is no place that Glenn would be no matter what as he clearly sees the seriousness of the situation and was more than willing to be there standing alone if necessary. I really have a deep abiding respect for Glenn. He is very courageous and he is one of a very small number of people in the entire world willing to take action and stand up for righteousness.

Glenn has painted himself in a corner and now one can add Boehner and Lieberman to the list of people who have concluded Glenn is too far on the fringe to be associated with. The list started with a number of radio stations who ditched him in the past and recently continued with Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes. Good luck with the rally, Glenn!

DDG7: Lieberman supported McCain against Obama so when he now says he hasn‘t decided who he’ll support, why would you not believe it? Chances are he’s just waiting to see if the Republicans nominate someone he can stand. There is no basis for questioning what he says about this.

I love Glenn, but never understood how or why he isolated himself from the rest of the talk radio universe. He has received virtually ZERO mention or support in this effort from others who could really help him – Hannity, Levin, Rusty Humphreys, Rush….It‘s like GB doesn’t exist to them. On the other hand, he ignores them as well, even once intentionally mispronouncing Mark Levin’s name when I know damned well Glenn knows all about him. I’m afraid GBTV will isolated him further. I wish him the best in his efforts, but he is all alone in them – and needlessly, in my view.

I trust Lieberman really does have a family commitment. I was hoping he would win the 2004 Democratic primaries because I believed he was an honest man. I was hoping Clinton, Gore, and later Kerry would lose their primaries because I believed they were dishonest megalomaniacs.
One of the most important characteristics in choosing who I will vote for is honesty because character matters – greatly.

It wouldn’t be difficult to gaze over the socio-political landscape and simply relegate Glenn to the existing collection of dooms-dayers like Marshall Applewhite, Jim Jones, Harold Camping and Al Gore, but it would require ignoring two points:

First – There’s no “money” or “power” in it for Glenn. In fact he’s pouring more of his own money into the effort than he currently has, and possibly more than he will be able to recoup.

…And Second – Where the others mentioned above have never uttered a prediction that has been accurate, Glenn has nailed every prediction he’s made during the past 5-years that I’ve been paying attention to him.

Prophet? …Perhaps not, but he’s immersed himself in every nook and cranny of history, and so far has outlined a remarkably accurate comparison of the parallels of today’s world situations with what has happened and has been repeated in the past.

For those who would casually dismiss Glenn’s accuracy over the last few years i would warn that (to quote Friedrich Hegel) “The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.”

Don’t know about you, but that resistance to learning from history is pretty disturbing to me, and until we cast off that resistance, our future is imperiled.

None of these people seem to be willing to put their own money where their mouths are now that turncoat see ya Boehner has denied them taxpayer money for the junket per se..

These people make me sick to my stomach more every day sans the new crop of November and they‘re not exactly walking on water either but they’ve stood ground for the most part. I’m proud of my rep Joe Walsh so far, that I can say.

Like Dylan’s song, they’re mostly just blowing in the wind, that is when they’re not getting blown by some lobbyist, constituent or family friend’s teenagers…..

Lieberman is a career politician, plain and simple. And he over to jump the fence whenever it is convenient. In the end, he is a liberal progressive like all the rest. I don’t trust him and nor should any of you. “Spineless worm” is the term that comes to mind.

Lieberman will be busy trying to decide if he will support obama in 2012. Yes, Lieberman is actually considering supporting enemy-obama for re-election. Enough said.

It‘s too bad because I’m sure that he really wanted to be there….. however the events of the last 2 days would be cause to reconsider….. I pray for all that are brave enough to attend. It will truly be a show of courage.

God bless the USA and Israel

Spineless LIBERAL worm. He was all in support to get the attention he needed and some Beck airtime to plug his book. Just another example of how badly all career politicians MUST be removed from office. Only care about themselves and will use any event to further their cause, increase their net worth etc. http://SavingtheRepublic.com

Joe, this is not a good move on your part. Sorry about family conflicts, but JESUS says we are to leave father and mother to follow him. And, in Revelation HE says that HE wishes we were hot or cold, but because we are lukewarm HE will spew us out of HIS mouth.

I hope you will change your heart over this. Isn’t ISRAEL that important to you? It is to me, and I’m not JEWISH. However, by GOD’s GRACE, I am one of HIS chosen. I hope to see you in ISRAEL, Mr. Liberman.

That’s kinda my thoughts. Sometimes it’s hard to choose the right thing, especially in these times. It’s going to get more difficult quickly too but we will all have to make the choice in one way or another.

Joe does not believe in Jesus yet.. the Jewish people are still waiting for the Messiah to come.. When they see him they shall know by the nail prints in his hands and feet. But for now Mr. Lieberman does know Christ exists! I wish you well!

Funny that LIeberman cancels the day after someone else in congress is told he can’t go. Somehow I think the good Senator is feeling some heat from the left. What “family committment” just poped up all the sudden that he couldn’t go because of it. Sounds like he might be getting cold feet.

He is feeling pressure from the democrats and many of the republicans, including the republican leadership. He should be ashamed. They all should be ashamed.

No illness…or family commitment for that matter. The buzz is in the air regarding the enemies of Israel looking to take advantage of this event. They’re in fear for their lives…and somewhat in their favor is the belief that an attack might be called off if the “big names” are not there.
