Life in Prison: Terrorist Gets Max Sentence for Attempted Times Square Bombing

A Manhattan judge sentenced Muslim extremist Faisal Shahzad to life in prison Tuesday for his botched attempt to detonate a car bomb in New York’s Times Square earlier this year.  In response, the 31-year-old Pakistani-American warned America, “brace yourself, the war with Muslims has just begun.”

U.S. District Judge Miriam Cedarbaum sentenced Shahzad to the mandatory sentence of life in prison after noting how the defendant failed to show any sign of remorse for his action.  ”The defeat of the U.S. is imminent, inshallah (God willing),” Shahzad reportedly said during sentencing.

According to reports from the 14th-floor Manhattan courtroom, Shahzad implored witnesses in the courtroom to embrace Islam and claimed Muslims were defending their people and their lands.  If that makes them terrorists, he said, “then we will terrorize you.”

When Judge Cedarbaum reminded Shahzad he had sworn to defend Americans when he became a naturalized citizen, he defiantly replied, “I swore, but I didn’t mean it.”

In a statement from the White House, spokesman Nick Shapiro said the administration was “pleased” with the news of Shahzad’s sentence.  ”His trial served no propaganda purpose for al Qaeda, and only underscored the strength of our justice system. The case shows once again how our values and the rule of law can keep us safe against those determined to do us harm on behalf of terrorist organizations overseas.”

Well what do you expect when he clearly doesn’t care about life. But as for punishment, I would take him and his vehicle out into the desert. Put him behind the wheel sitting on a deadman’s switch. Let him blow himself up. This way he gets his wish, except he won’t be able to hurt anyone but himself. I don’t know what happens to them that fail to kill the infidels when they explode prematurely. Do they forfeit their virgins or something. There would be no coverage of the explosion just him and his vehicle out in the desert.

This man was an American Citizen. As such he should have been charged with Treason during a time of war and exicuted by fireing-squad.

“The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.”

This is the perfect example of why the death penalty should’ve been applied. No remorse, would do it again and again, he will infect people in prison with his hatred. There should be no remorse in ridding society of someone as poisonous as this man is.

The only thing that bothers me is thinking about the money we will have to spend on this terrorist feeding and housing him for the rest of his life.

And let’s not forget that we will also be paying his medical bills, as well as any legal bills he may run up at any time during his incarceration.

I just hope he gets general population so his time will be shortened.

There won’t be much done to protect this guy. He’s going to have a huge target on him when he enters the penal system. He’s also not demagraphically the type of person that is going to do well in prison. COs will be slow to come to his help, and even if they put him in isolation, if another prisoner or 6 want to get to him, they will find a way. Just ask that priest that was killed in jail that had been molesting children. he was in a PCU also if I remember right, and it certainly did not save him.
To me, refusing him PCU, putting him in general population, would be the best way to deal with him. Make it so he lives or dies on his own merits in prison. He deserves no protections from We the People, as he has already stated he lied when he gave his Oath of Citizenship to us. What happens to him in prison is no longer my concern, nor the concern of others. He will live the rest of his life out with his Karma. He’s lucky, if I had access to him in prison, I would sit on his chest, and force pork, preferrably raw.

i think public beheadings of islamic terrorists would send such a better message than life in prison.—sure, it would be a departure from our normal procedings (civilian court/rule of law etc) but as long as we’re worried about “perception in the middle east”–let’s, at least, start talking in their language and using their same actions. how else can we “dialogue”———oh, and while we’re at it, lets make clear our intent to NUKE mecca upon any nuclear attack against us. that will put some ice in their pants.——– just an idea. planting a seed. grow….

HOW TO STOP ISLAMIC TERRORISTS . . . it worked once in our History . . .

Once in US history an episode of Islamic terrorism was very quickly stopped. It happened in the Philippines about 1911, when Gen. John J. Pershing was in command of the garrison. There had been numerous Islamic terrorist attacks, so “Black Jack” told his boys to catch the perps and teach them a lesson.

Forced to dig their own graves, the terrorists were all tied to posts, execution style. The US soldiers then brought in pigs and slaughtered them, rubbing their bullets in the blood and fat. Thus, the terrorists were terrorized; they saw that they would be contaminated with hogs’ blood. This would mean that they could not enter Heaven, even if they died as terrorist martyrs.

All but one was shot, their bodies dumped into the grave, and the hog guts dumped atop the bodies. The lone survivor was allowed to escape back to the terrorist camp and tell his brethren what happened to the others. This brought a stop to terrorism in the Philippines for the next 50 years.

Pointing a gun into the face of Islamic terrorists won’t make them flinch. They welcome the chance to die for Allah. Like Gen. Pershing, we must show them that they won’t get to Muslim heaven (which they believe has an endless supply of virgins) but instead will die with the hated pigs of the devil.

Do you know what coherent means? Or was it the word resilience that confused you? The statement was pretty clear if you speak English and given that this is America its probably a good idea that you do. I said Republicans were silent on praising the American justice system today for putting this terrorist behind bars where he belongs… and I simply wondered why…. hmmm. You don’t think it has anything to do with their objections to the Constitution, do you? Only reason I ask is because I remember hearing a lot of commotion from them last year over putting terrorists in court.

PICKUP, Nope, you still aren’t “coherent”, sorry. No doubt, you are making implication to the Jose Padilla case, which, probably to your surprise, ended in the lawful conviction of Mr. Padilla in August, 2007 on harges as an “Enemy Combatant”. Keep on searching for that proof you so desperately desire on behalf of our enemies, though. In both cases, justice, by due process, was done. One on “Republican’s“ watch and one one ”Yours”.
