Lifetime‘s ’Dance Moms’ Reaches New Depths: Girls as Young as 8 Dance Burlesque in Nude Bikinis

Abby Lee Miller Tells Lifetimes Dance Moms Contestants to Dance Burlesque

Lifetime network’s Dance Moms – a show similar to TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras — will be sure to raise pulses after reaching what many will consider new depths of child exploitation. In one of its recent episodes, the show’s resident dance instructor asked her child-contestants — some as young as eight-years-old — to dress in nude-colored bikinis and perform a burlesque routine on stage.

Burlesque, of course, is longtime dance form in which its moves are purposefully sexually suggestive. Most burlesque dancers eventually strip down to full nudity, or merely don apliques in lieu of clothing.

Yet somehow, the folks at Lifetime, along with these young girls’ mothers, think the routine permissible.

Even more shockingly, a clip from this week’s show features dance teacher Abby Lee Miller dressing the children in neutral colored bikinis to give the impression of nudity, before asking them to act as if a man “can’t afford” them.

After Miller announced that the young contestants must “act like showgirls” and dance as if they were “completely topless,” she showed not a glimpse of remorse as she brushed off parent’s concerns by reciting a tough: “this is showbiz and you have to get used to it” mantra in front of the camera.

Below is a clip from Lifetime’s featuring the episode. It’s difficult to imagine this was not a put-on for ratings but in today’s day and age, it may be real:

Below is a trailer for the show:

For reference, below are some of the most famous burlesque figures of our time. Are these the sultry women Dance Moms is suggesting these little girls portray?

Instead of condeming them, please for the sake if the children, fast and pray for the conversion of all those involved.
“Mother of Salvation, I ask You to pray for the mercy of young souls, who are in terrible darkness, so that they recognize Your Beloved Son when He comes to redeem the whole of mankind. Let not one soul fall by the wayside. Let not one soul reject His Great Mercy. I pray, Mother, that all are saved, and ask You to cover these souls with Your Holy Mantle to provide them the protection they need from the deceiver.”
“O My Jesus, help me to help You salvage the remnants of Your children on earth. I pray that You will, through Your mercy, salvage souls from the spirit of darkness. Accept my trials, sufferings and sorrows in this life to save souls from the fires of hell. Fill me with the graces to offer you these sufferings with love and joy in my heart so that we will all unite, as one in love for the Blessed Trinity and live with you, as one holy family, in Paradise. Amen.”

The sexual revolution was a masterfully played huge hoax on the world. It was really designed to take away legal protections for women and children. Educate yourself by studying the work of Judith Reisman (available on-line). Isn’t it interesting how legalizing the sexuality of children coincides with Muslim beliefs? America has previously always stood firm in it’s dedication to preserve the innocence of children. It is past time to put the brakes on the over-sexualizing of the culture. If you have fallen for the sexual revolution, educate yourself and get out of it. The world becomes a much more dangerous place for all when children have no right to say “NO”.

I have always been a small Gov’t kind of guy. But stuff like this makes me tend to learn towards people having to undergo a psychological evaluation to see if they are fit to be parents before being allowed to procreate. Not only should the woman conducting the classes be jailed, but the “parents” (term used rather loosely there) should be too. ANY Father who is allowing his wife (or exwife as the case may be) to put his baby girl through this kind of stuff needs to have his man card revoked.

      Absolutely, 100% agree.

Can you imagine, and I point out with great interest, if these mothers were replaced by their fathers?

Why are there are no men in this show? (The fathers are probably cowering at home in pray and embarrassment, too weak to stand up to these harpies.)

Where are the fathers? (I have briefly watched the show with fascinating horror at what these parents, mothers, put their children through. It’s revolting.)

Where are the women’s groups, outraged at the sexualization of 8 year old little girls?

      Children.

If men were involved with this, it would be shut down immediately and they would be charged with pedophilia.

I have 5 daughters, and I would have never allowed anything like this. Why would I ever want to train my little girl to be a showgirl? Why would a little girl even really know what a “show girl” is? To me this is abuse. These girls are being abused and being taught that it’s okay to be sexual. If these girls are taught this now, what will they be like when they are older? Why would any mother want this for their daughter?

This makes me furious. Any mother who allows their child to behave in this way and doesn’t take their child out right away, are not mothers or parents. Any adult who thinks this behavior is okay for a young girl, needs their head examined.

Our society has lost morality and those of us who try to teach our children morality are made to look like the crazies. It‘s time that we stand up for what we believe in and don’t let issues like this rest.

This is yet one more example of parents so caught up in forcing their own dreams on the kids, they crush the youths under so called ‘good intentions.’ These shows are nothing more than exploitation of children, and the true degredation of our society; nowadays instead of claiming moral high ground to achieve our ambitions via hard work, perspeation, determination and ambition, we now dive to the depths of darkness to become the best of the worse.

How long until they have such shows as the old Roman Gladiator games; people fighting to the death for fame and glory? How long until they start allowing shows in which rapists perform their deeds live for the world to see?

It’s funny you should mention the gladiator games. Just this morning I proof-read an essay my little brother wrote on the subject. I was shocked at the actual magnitude of the slaughter and barbarity. I hadn’t realized that they actually staged entire sea battles in the Colosseum. Absolutely disgusting. Kind of like the subject matter of this article. Dance as if they were completely topless? Get used to the show biz? As much as I hate to say it, there is some truth to what the instructor is saying. Sex sells. To be “successful” in show biz is to show more than what everyone else is. The problem is when these “moms” consented to the costumes, they immediately failed to teach their girls the distinction between monetary and moral achievement. These little girls are learning at an early age that when it comes to one or the other, it is okay to sacrifice moral achievement for monetary achievement. I was raised the exact opposite. I was raised not to sacrifice my moral upbringing for anything, not even my life. Amazing, what a contrast in teachings from one American family to another. It’s sad that something like this may be popularized through television (oh, did I mention that my brothers and I also did not have television most of our time growing up? Wow, I have amazing parents). Television is garbage and everyone in the US would be better off without it. If there’s a cool show that you like, wait for it to come out on DVD and watch it that way.

Unfortunately there are individuals who truly believe they can capture lost childhood by using their own children to enact what they never experienced in youth.

Take it from one who went through ballet, tap, dance, acting, and was forced to sit at a keyboard of a piano for four years during the formidable years before the parents realized the drawings on the walls in the bedroom were drawings of architecture and perfect examples of juxtaposition, scale and perspective.

There are no manuals for raising children, but there is God.

The show is called Dance Moms, this is all about the MOM, who obviously are selfish to put their kids in this situation. Same with Toddlers and Tiaras, it is always about the Mothers. If these kids were just in a class is one thing, it is a Reality Show on TV, that to me is exploitation. Do you support parents that list their kids on Craigslist for sex? Is that in the kids best interest? You would most definately not have the same opinion.

Seriously? What a minute, I am just saying that it is their right to decide what is best for there own kid? And do you really think this is the same thing as listing your kids for sale on Craigs List? Really???? These outfits were no worse then some bathing suits. Do you allow your children to wear swimsuits to the pool and swim with boys? Bet you do. Enough with the judging. You are correct they pushed it to the max, but it is not up to you. They are not your children. Their biggiest mistake is putting in on National Television for the entire world to see. But this is not the first time little girls have worn and dance like this at these events. And no I am not a pagent mom, cheer mom or dance mom. Mine play softball! But it is my choice!

They are already trying to tell parents what they can and can’t feed their kids, even if you disagree – be careful! You can only be responsible for your own.

Mamma, you clearly proved my point about it being about the Mom, your last words are that it is YOUR choice! My daughter is a softball player and does Karate, it is HER choice, not mine. And if she decided that she wanted to be in dance, I would support that too. If this were the type of dance that she wanted to do, well then I would have to question my parenting and where on earth she got the desire to want to do that and there would not be a choice, it would not happen.

Time does not allow to address the poor reasoning here, but let’s consider this nugget of wisdom: “It is up to the parents to decide what is okay for their own child.” It is true that parents have the right to raise their children free from unlawful, unreasonable, and ungodly influences or force. Let us remember, there are parents, yes, even in this country, who pimp out their daughters. How does that square with your nugget of wisdom? Unless you have a foundation for your ethics, you would do best to stay out of the conversation.

The thing is specifically about this routine, is that it does not matter if they were covered from head to toe. It is the tone of the dance. The way the instructor is telling them how to do the moves “A man cant afford you.” Any ay, we all parent differently, some better than others.

I watched the show and although I thought it was risky for the Abby Lee Dance Company. They DID NOT take 1st place with the overall trophy as someone indicated. The feather fans covered the girls 98% of the time and the top was skin color material with rhinestones added to make it sparkle. The bottoms were silver hot pants. The illusion was to make the girls look like show girls.

For the record the moms did object to the costume in the beginning, but relented in the end once the suits the girls were wearing looked like bathing suits rather than nude wear. You may not like the dance theme, but these girls are training to become professional dancers. She has produced numerous winners throughout her career. The picture you see above is before all the rhinestones was added, that is why they look more “nude” than wearing a skin color top.

Those of you who are making lewd remarks about these parents need to get a clue. I watch this show and at least I can say these women are at every dance tournament and involved in their child’s life. These kids are most likely A students, they don’t do drugs and they have parents who care. You might not like every dance themes, but this girls are winners.

Mamma Bear, as a parent of young girls, your comment is ridiculous. We want choice, yes, but my 5 year old daughter does not have the capacity to make this kind of choice! Nor, do I believe, will she at 8, 10 or probably even 15. Girls now are taught younger and younger to act older and older, and of course they want to! They see the sexualization of their peers all over the place. This isn’t about the freedom of young girls wanting to dance or not, it’s about parents turning their very young girls into Burlesque-style strippers! How can you not see the difference?

Cofemale…so when did being an “A-student“ and ”winners” become more important than keeping an innocent childhood and being brought up with ethics. Yeah, maybe a few of them become professional dancers, but how many of them grow up with a completely messed-up image of what a “woman” should be and act like? I want my daughters to grow up understanding that they are much, much more special to me than simply a “winner” at-all cost. Being successful and being modest/age appropriate are not mutually exclusive.

Little girls are innocent children who will do anything “mom” says to do …What we are seeing is here is beyond creepy, it is emotional molestation and disgraceful. The mothers who allow little girls to act like topless showgirls are warped and vile, and are so lost in their own self-absorbtion they fail to understand how far they’ve fallen. How can any loving mother, who wants an emotionally healthy daughter, allow her little girl to become a sex object? It is sick. It is sin, and it is shameful.

“this is showbiz and you have to get used to it” This is the comment from their dance instructor/teacher. To be honest show business or the celebrity lifestyle is not made out what is to be from the media. People becoming overnight gods or goddess to people who worship every word or buy anything with their face printed on. As many Americans throughout the years I was like many, many, many people who believed everything that happened in Hollywood. Waking up I saw the ugliness to Hollywood and how they influence us to become mind slaves. Hopefully you do not see me as a conspiracy theorist for speaking out like this. I just cannot stand being a slave and believing every lie Hollywood comes out with.

I am less concerned with some idiotic liberal’s definition of art than I am with what kind of parent would allow their daughter to be bullied by this fat, obnoxious, pig of a human. I am a guy and admit I know nothing of dance and have never seen the show except in preview commercials. But what I have seen of this woman is enough for me. I would not let my sons be treated that way by any sports coach either. It is one thing to instill a sense of competition and to work them hard for results, but I am surprised this fat pig has not been beat up by some of these mothers…

The Norwegian countries are pretty ‘lax’ on their stance of ‘Victorianism’ as well — HOWEVER there’s a vast difference between sexualization/exploitation of MINORS in a public forum for ‘fame and fortune’ and the Vatican ;-) Axe da theocrats in the current field of ‘rodeo clowns.’ “Distracted from REAL ISSUES yet? Just because it‘s ’legal‘ don’t make it RIGHT – and vice-versa — Pat Robertson recently said we SHOULD legalize pot, and allow the gubmint to ‘control’ it just like alcohol, tobacco and firearms. To the greater number of people putting children on the meat market for a dollar (entertainment industry) does NOTHING to enhance that child’s yet undeveloped sense of self. I submit that the Mr Roger‘s and Dr Spocks of the 60’s are the ROOT CAUSE of the ‘progressive decay’ of society as a whole – “Who’s right, if everybody’s wrong — stop children what‘s that sound everybody look what’s goin’ down……..”

HAHAHA That‘s a funny question to ask of a lady you don’t even know. I am very conservative, actually. I’m just saying that compared to SOME of the things I have seen on TV, this was mild. I think this is more about the DANCE itself and than the COSTUME! I thought the costume was fine after they had sewn on all the sequins and stuff so they did not look ANYTHING like “naked.” I’ve seen worse at the beach, trust me. What I did not like were a few of the dance moves. Otherwise, it was well done….IMO
