Like a Vampire: Dramatic Obama Campaign Ad Blasts Romneys Record at Bain

Following the push for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) vote last week, the Obama campaign has just released a video lambasting Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital.  Due to air in major swing states, the ad focuses on select workers from GST Steel and their various criticisms of Mitt Romney. But guess what: it fails to mention one little, yet important, fact.

“We view Mitt Romney as a job destroyer,” they said, “[he] destroyed thousands of people’s careers, lifetimes…”

One man, who was perhaps a little too influenced by his daughter’s science-fiction novels, compared the presidential candidate to a “vampire.”

“They came in and sucked the life out of us,” he explained. “It was like watching an old friend bleed to death,” elaborated the companion.

The only problem?  Though Bain acquired the company in 1993, the bankruptcy and major layoffs didn’t happen until 2001 — two years after Mitt Romney left the company.

Even more hypocritical, for many, is the fact that one of Obama’s top bundlers was reportedly a managing director at Bain in 2001, when the much-criticized bankruptcy and layoffs occurred.

National Review explains:

Left unmentioned (and blameless) is Jonathan Lavine. Lavine, according to the Los Angeles Times, is a top Obama bundler and a managing director at Bain Capital.  Lavine, who has raised over $100,000 for the president, was at the firm when GST Steel declared bankruptcy. So according to the Obama team’s logic, Romney, who had left Bain, is responsible for GST Steel’s demise, but Lavine, who was there, is not?

In addition to the ad, the Obama campaign has also unveiled RomneyEconomics.com, a website that features the alleged “profit at any cost” attitude of Mitt Romney, with a run-down building in the background.

Even a former Obama adviser, Steven Rattner, has criticized the attack on Romney as being “unfair.”

Also known as the “car czar,” Rattner explained: “I do think to pick out an example of somebody who lost their job, unfortunately, this is part of capitalism, this is part of life. And I don’t think there’s anything Bain Capital did that they need to be embarrassed about.”

Mitt Romney’s spokesman Andrea Saul responded to the Obama camp: “[We] welcome the Obama campaign’s attempt to pivot back to jobs and a discussion of their failed record. Mitt Romney helped create more jobs in his private sector experience and more jobs as Governor of Massachusetts than President Obama has for the entire nation.”

    An Inconvenient Truth: OBOZO has gotten TWICE AS MUCH CAMPAIGN MONEY FROM BAIN as has Romney. The love between Bain and OBOZO is solidly “green”.

      Getting back to the topic….the Romney Campaign would be fools not to exploit this blunder by Obama’s Chicago machine. Romney out of the company a full two years while an Obama bundler was actually a managing director of Bain while the very firings were taking place.

      Just follows the logic of this President, “the most ‘intelligent’ man to serve as President” can’t be blamed for A.C.O.R.N.’s extortion of Chicago banks to force them to accept mortgagees that had no way of paying back any form of home loan. He stormed board rooms like an Nazi Brown shirt in Vienna during the 1930′s (they followed Progressivism back then also).

      Wasn’t this the ad that Gingrich ran against Romney in the South Carolina Primary? So it looks like they have run out of ideas in the brain room of the Obama campaign so they have to go back to the Republican primary battles for fodder for their scorched earth political campaign.

    So, Romney is blamed for Bain’s closing of a company two years after he left Bain…

    …yet we hear nothing of the 2000 car-dealerships that Obama forced GM and Chrysler to shutter, hear nothing to the thousands of people that were laid off as a result of that.

      OF COURSE it‘s Romney’s fault… if he hadn’t been SO SELFISH and left the company when he did, GST Steel might not have gone bankrupt. There’s ALWAYS a way to twist the truth – it’s the Chicago way; NEVER let little things like FACTS get in your way.

      @SageInWaiting Yeah. Like that whole SLC Olympics are $500 million in debt, plagued in scandal, and potentially not going to happen, is something important to get bothered about and fixed.

      Who knows. Would Romney have been able to save GST Steel? Perhaps, perhaps not. The entire steel industry in the US got wrecked in that time period.

      What we do know is that Romney had done his work and was asked to perform a civic duty – save the Olympics. And he did. For a total sum of $-1,000,000 – which he donated to the games. He took no pay. And he made the games a success and gave the credit to everyone else’s hard work.

      I can only partially agree with you. 40% (give or take a few) are unreachable. If President Obama whipped out a gun and started shooting Republicans on national TV, these guys would still vote for him. Another 40% are inalterably opposed to him, so no matter what position he takes, they are going to vote against him – holding their nose more or less firmly depending on their antipathy to, or disgust with, Mitt. Romney. There are a few in the middle who will decide the election, the election will turn on whether it is possible to make them see all of the lies – the utter hypocrisy of the entire Obama administraton and the fairy tale that passes for President Obama’s life story. If that gets through to the middle, Romney wins by a landslide. More likely, the issue will hang on the economy and even the most uninvolved see $3.75 a gallon at least once a week. Maybe that’s enough.

      That’s what I was thinking…First off, if Bain Capitol was involved, it means the company was in trouble.. Most of those troubles come from poor performance, which in turn means those at fault normally lose their jobs… What a surprise… I guess they should have worked for Solyndra, where failed executives got huge bonuses. And as for ruining their lives, and sucking the life out of them.. Same blame game, Not my fault, Never my fault, Always Bush’s fault..

    The presidents facts is like the running down of America. He does not get the right facts and lies to the young voters because that he think he can feed such hogwash. He probably did not tell the young that they will be paying the debt that the President has added to their bills. He made bad investments. His healthcare will be a disaster. Our employment is terrible do to lack of jobs. He doesn’t want us to drill for oil but pays other countries to do so. He makes poor choices in the people around him that affects our lives. He is playing class welfare such as this ad portrays (rich against the poor).

    Let’s see, Obama put $450 million dollars (our money) into Solyndra and it went bankrupt. Fifteen hundred jobs were lost and there are many more company’s Bama has invested in (with our money) that have crashed. Guess this makes Obama a terrible businessman.

    The most two-faced political panderer of our time. Obama rakes Romney over the coals for Bain, but hires the top Bain executives to be on his own cabinet and beurocracy. I have no love for Romney, but I can’t abide a liar. Especially one that is serving in the highest office of our land. Time to vote out the worst divider of all time and at least get someone in who understands how an economy is SUPPOSED to work.
