‘Like an Infant’: Two Missouri Women Charged With Starving 3-Year-Old Down to 12 Pounds

Only July 1, a 3-year-old girl from Joplin, Mo., was brought to the hospital unconscious and so malnourished she weighed only 12 pounds 9 ounces — only a little more than some newborns. The two women responsible for her care were issued a felony charge of child endangerment this week.

The Joplin Globe reports that police responded to a call from 26-year-old Beth Williams’ home and took the child to the hospital where she was found to have “a blood sugar level of zero,“ a body temperature ”too low to register” and a faint pulse that led physicians to perform CPR, according to the probable-cause affidavit. The Globe notes a doctor telling the police her condition was “life-threatening,” given she was suffering from “dehydration, sepsis, circulatory failure, shock and respiratory failure.”
According to LiveStrong, the average weight of a 3-year-old should range between 25 and 38 pounds.
The girl was hospitalized and within four days gained three pounds. She was placed into foster care and gained two more pounds within a week there.
The mother’s account to investigators was that the girl was fine when she checked on her the evening of June 30 after returning home from work. By morning, she was unresponsive.
In a separate article, the Globe reports neighbors thoughts on the situation:
Angel Haynes said her family thought the girl was just a baby when her mother, Beth Williams, and her roommate, Christina Haidle, moved into the house at 1407 S. Pennsylvania Ave. about a year ago. Haynes said Williams was always carrying her daughter whenever she saw them leaving their house or returning.
“She looked like an infant to me,” Haynes said. “When I found out she was almost 4, I said: ‘No way.’”

The girl’s grandfather though, speaking to the Associated Press remarked that his granddaughter had “always been small” and wasn’t being starved.
“I know my daughter loves that baby with all her heart, and I know she wouldn’t do anything to hurt her,” Williams said.
He said the last time he got together with his daughter and granddaughter was Thanksgiving, when his daughter fixed a typical holiday meal. The girl appeared healthy and well-fed at that time, and showed a big appetite, he said.
Williams’ 27-year-old roommate, Christina Haidle, who has secondary provider care of the girl, was also served with the same charges and a bond of $500,000. The Globe also notes Haidle was convicted of a misdemeanor for child endangerment in 2004.
The women were scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

They are hopelessly handicapped, malnutrition and lack of contact led to severe mental retardation. They are loved and well fed now, but still and forever will carry physical and mental scars. Those two bi##ches ought to be locked up in a room with no food and enough water to keep them alive until they reach the same percentage body weight as their “daughter”.

If a person is birth with sickle cell anemia or Tay Sachs we treat the disease & try to cure it. It is a birth defect. You might have heard of those.
If a person is born a hermaprodite there are people who decide which way they will go based on the best available science. It was in Discover magazine. For our species a hermaphrodite would be considered a birth defect. ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE SET of ****** or THE OTHER is not PROPERLY DEVELOPED. Perhaps you read science articles that are not heavily censored by gay theologists.

Posted on July 26, 2012 at 5:05pmMy son didn’t weigh 15 pounds until he was 15 months old…but he had a heart condition. He didn’t gain weight from age 6-8, weighing only 35 pounds at age 8. They almost diagnosed him failure to thrive, when they discovered he had celiac disease. I would hate to see these women prosecuted if this is the case, but that’s a really big if. If her blood sugar level was 0, and was dehydrated and had sepsis, there’s something these women did, or didn’t do.

How about we take you or them and do the same thing to you as they did to this Child! I bet you figure it our realy fast! If we put them into the Prison system they get out and they re-affend. Did they learn anything? Look at gangs and gang shootings! Do you think these gangs would keep killing if we had an old Fashioned Hanging in the Park? Or do you think they’d get the point? I bet they get it and I bet they learn from it! But No, we put them in prison, “if we can bring them to justice” and even then they get a slap on the wrist. Report Post »If you really want a peaceful world, the first step is to call out evil and ensure there are consequences for bad behavior. “Abuse” is too mild a word for what this child went through – torture is more accurate. Monkey’s solution may not be ideal, but this idea that the women need “therapy” or “parenting classes” is so out to lunch it’s not even worth examining. These women should be locked up permanently so they never have access to another child.

There is a reason why our justice system is being made out to be corrupt and has become corrupt over the past few decades. There is a reason why God was taken out of our schools and institutions. Without a moral compass to guide us and with a failing judicial system, anyone like Hitler could appear tomorrow and be everyone’s hero because they would provide the “swift” justice everyone is looking for. Tell me you wouldn’t like to see these people suffer a very painful death for what they did to this child. Tell me you wouldn’t like to see Jim Holmes put down right away. The examples go on and on. Be aware of the person that appears on the scene and promises you all this. Someone is orchestrating a crisis… I can smell it.
