Limbaugh: Americans Gave Obama the ‘Middle Finger Scratch’

Barack Obama has been known to use his middle finger to scratch various parts of his face while he is speaking. Often this seems to happen just as he mentions the name of someone he has tangled with in some way or another. Now Rush Limbaugh has modified the gesture metaphorically:

Even fellow Democrats can be targets, like Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Mayor John Callahan who had once backed Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid:

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 1:36pmRush, I understand your point. However, I believe that we ought to be more polite in our disagreements than they are. The fight needs to be more fair. We have the truth, after all, and that gives us an unfair advantage. They get to be rude. That’s all they have. We need to not be rude. The truth seems so small and fragile sometimes. But in the end, a little, sweet, awkward love will win out over all of the big, loud, bold wickedness. My son says that the best comedy uses the truth in a new light. We don’t need to use swear words, or joking death wishes, or anything else weird. I cringe at even thinking of using Obama’s rude gesture back at him. May we please not copy them in their rudeness? I know it’s tempting, I understand that very well. But let’s stay nice.

Trying to be nice to them is like trying to be nice to the president of Iran.
