Limbaugh Defends Chinese Imitation as Stephen Colbert Mocks it

When translation problems during President Obama‘s and Chinese President Hu Jintao’s joint news conference on Wednesday led to long periods of only Chinese dialogue, Rush Limbaugh decided to impersonate it on his radio show. But that didn’t sit well with some, and by Thursday he was the butt of jokes and defending his actions — in his own Rush Limbaugh way.
The gist of Limbaugh’s comments, and language portrayal, is that the audience was left for minutes not knowing what was being said. So, he thought he would recite what he thought he heard and try to interpret it:
That led to widespread ridicule. For example, on Thursday Stephen Colbert devoted an entire segment to making fun of Rush making fun of the presser:

On the same day, Limbaugh defended his imitation by joking some more that he was doing the country a “service”:
And then played a clip of comedian Sid Caesar doing his own Chinese language interpretation:
I think it‘s fair to say Rush really doesn’t care about the criticism.
UPDATE:
On Thursday, Limbaugh found an unlikely defender: Rosie O’Donnell. O’Donnell infamously did a similar imitation in 2006 while describing that her interview of a drunk Danny DeVito while with “The View” was so bit it was grabbing headlines in China. She came under fire for that, and on Thursday used her radio show to ask why Chinese accents can’t be imitated.

Michael J. Fox eventually admitted he went off his Meds to make the Parkinson’s appear worse during his House testimony. Rush was making this point as well.

Sure from their ratings, no one else cares, and the only press they get is on the web sites that put them on, thus sparking others to watch them. Rush is an entertainer, and I find him to be entertaining. Pretty funny imitation for sure.

You have to keep in mind that Progressives consider people stupid cows with themselves as the ranchers. Wouldn’t a rancher laugh at the very idea of taking seriously anything the cows said if they could talk?
Progressives have no desire whatsoever to pay any heed to what the people want. They don’t think people are smart enough to govern themselves. They are “Homer Simpsons”. It is one of the basic pillars of the whole Progressive/Liberal ideology. Lead the people around with entitlement carrots, and use the stick of government on the troublemakers that disagree and attract too much attention to these facts and cause trouble in the “herd”. Or am I expected to sit here like a good little abused stepchild and be called “Nazi, barbarian, religious psycho, murderer, racist, etc.” all the while they denounce what I believe, insult the god I worship, generalize me and people I work with as brainless oaf’s and on top of all of it, call me dangerous because I don’t follow their line of thought. This isn’t rhetoric, we call that abuse, and I am sick and tired of being told to be more civil, and that I shouldn’t offend people when people I disagree with take every opportunity to go out of their way and offend people like me. So until people like Maher, Cohen, and every other nameless brown nosed lefty pinko commie stops mocking me, I say let Rush mock who he wants. If it offends you, well, maybe next time you can remind your side that when they dish it out they should be prepared to have it given back in full.

If you only listen to people you agree with, I can promise you that you won’t be getting the entire story and frankly no one is right 100% of the time.

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 9:55amRush shows America a great point, we have gotten to the point in this country we the people, in the eyes of the extreme left and the progressives, have to always fear who we will insult or offend due to anything we say, do, look at, move in a certain manner, or not do, say, look at, etc. In short the idea of not offending anyone in any way, any mean, any manner at any time has gone to the depths of the oceanic abyssal plane of the marianas trench.
By attempting to avoid offense to all, we offend all, especially what it means to have – for now – the freedom to express who we are as individuals in addition to being Americans; we are one of a large nation of individuals; not a single part of a collective whole.
Go onward Rush.

i didn’t see anyone demanding an appology here, in fact stephen showed himself doing the same thing, and i would imagine he loves it when rush does this stuff – quit it with the self victimization, its something i still can’t understand on this comment board (i.e. – no one watches msnbc, but its ruining the country!)
i don’t think anyone is worrying about censoring themselves either – no one had heard of that guy who called palin snookie until he did (thanks to certain news outlets) and rush and beck get the same bounce when they say offensive stuff – if there is a fear out there, the commentators seem to be ignoring it

This is what gives Chinese its “singsongy” quality, which makes it easy to mock, whether by Rush Limbaugh or by Rosie O’Donnell, who as I recall was roasted for her “ching chong” bit.
