Limbaugh Hits Back at Media Matters: Launches Site Section Dedicated to Refuting Its ‘Facts’

After years of verbally combating Media Matters’ ceaseless assaults, Rush Limbaugh has taken a more concrete step towards refuting the vocal leftist organization.

On his website, Limbaugh now has an entire section dedicated solely to setting the record straight on dubious Media Matters allegations.

Found at “mediamatters.rushlimbaugh.com,” the page begins with an introduction of the group:

After the Sandra Fluke controversy, tax-exempt Media Matters was instrumental in calls for boycotts against Rush Limbaugh’s program, particularly by advertisers.

(Related: Media Matters Operative Behind Rush Limbaugh ‘Advertiser Boycott’)

The Associated Press wrote at the time:

Media Matters is spending at least $100,000 for two advertisements that will run in eight cities

[...]

In one of the anti-Limbaugh ads, listeners are urged to call the local station that carries Limbaugh to say “we don’t talk to women like that” in our city.

Ad time was purchased in Boston; Chicago; Detroit; Seattle; Milwaukee; St. Louis; Macon, Ga.; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The cities were selected to support active local campaigns against Limbaugh or because of perceptions Limbaugh may be vulnerable in that market, said Angelo Carusone of Media Matters.

Rush Limbaugh Hits Back at Media Matters Launching Website Dedicated to Refuting its Facts

Limbaugh maintains he didn’t lose nearly as many advertisers as reports may claim– rather, his audience is bigger than ever– but he has begun to embrace social media more wholeheartedly after the controversy.

On top of the Media Matters page, Limbaugh also started a Twitter account, where he has tweeted out defenses against the activist organization, but you can only do so much with 140 characters.

Limbaugh representative Brian Glicklich explained to the Daily Caller: “The purpose of this page is to act as a point of reference for people looking for the facts about Media Matters — which is, of course, very different than the way they describe themselves.”

“It will be updated frequently.”

There is no “I am all for free speech, [but]…”. [emphasis added]

Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. Speech is either free or it is censored. And once you start censoring select portions of speech you start down a slippery slope where anything can be censored based on offensiveness to any one person or group of people.

Furthermore, your notion of leveling “stiff rules” against commentators on the left or right is crazy, wishful thinking. Who writes those rules I ask? You? Or maybe the FCC thugs?

Not to mention that you shouldn’t believe everything you read/hear/see in life. It is each person’s responsibility to “trust but verify” every bit of information that is fed to you on a day to day basis. For example, if I told you the sky was blue I would expect you to trust me but go off and research it on your own (verify).

What you are referring to is the ethical editorial policies that used to anchor all real news and legitimate talk shows that sought to actually inform people. When news outlets were taken over by corporations who carried more about ratings and advertizing revenue more that facts and the truth editorial honor was lost. The result is that Americans can get the news selected and reported in a manner that reinforces their ideology and beliefs regardless of how wrong they are. And that is on both sides of the spectrum. Nothing conveys the fraudulence of the current news and discussion outlets as Fox’s News “Fair and Balanced” slogan. Enough said.

And who is the judge of what is a “lie” and what is “truth”? I know that sounds like something a liberal would say, but the truth of the matter is that Media Matters and every Soros-funded outlet is quite adept at fudging reality. So if you are big on “free speech” (and if you have even a passing knowledge of the Constitution, you know that the only speech that is clearly protected is political speech) you have to accept that one person’s “truth” is another person’s “lie.” For example, if you listen to Obama, you know he considers outsourcing jobs overseas as “criminal,” but doesn’t think that forcing a low-ball appraisal on a prime piece of real estate so that a certain state senator would qualify for a loan to purchase the property is criminal. The state of Illinois disagreed with that opinion, and his buddy, Tony Rezko ended up in prison for just that act.

So what do you know about President Reagan? What did HE do during WWII?? It’s not much of a stretch to say what Reagan did- or did NOT do- during that war is pretty much what Romney did… or did not do. Did your dear Fuhrer Paul serve during a war? No? You don’t live in Texas, do you? Now, I know you won‘t find any of this on your Fuhrer’s websites (propaganda), but those of us who actually LIVE in Texas and follow Texas politics know that Paul’s Congressional District is pretty well-to-do (read 1%’ers) and he gets elected and elected and elected and elected because of one thing: PORK. He’s worked AGAINST his fellow Republicans more than some Liberal Democrats! But you don’t know that… it doesn’t register in your propaganda Paul websites. Oh, BTW… how is it Romney came up in all this? I thought it was about Rush Limbaugh and Media Matters? What NIMRODS you Ronulans are.

I‘m not attacking Romney’s Religion or Faith, I’m attacking his Honor and Courage.
Romney was PRO-Vietnam War until he was drafted then he dropped the PRO-War thing and ran like a scared little girl.
Romney could have joined after he did his “missionary work” as a Chaplain and served both God and Country and helped by giving religious comfort to his fellow American in battle, but he was too scared to even do that.
Romney was only looking out for Romney. He PUNKED OUT!
Now Romney wants to Command our Troops (who serve voluntarily) and send them off into War in other countries when he was too scared to do it himself! What a JOKE that is!

Dr. Paul was drafted (with a wife and 2 kids) and still served and didn’t seek a way out of it. Dr. Paul knew he could have went into combat at the drop of a dime, all people that serve know this.

This just goes to show the difference in character, honor, duty, responsibility, leadership and devotion to Country.

If I had to go back into combat I would want Dr. Paul giving me my orders and not some coward like Romney.

      Romney Military Service

Mitt Romney has never served in the military.

      • Before joining college, Romney had received a deferment from the draft as a Mormon ‘minister of religion’ for the duration of his missionary work in France, which lasted two and a half years. At the time, there was an agreement of sorts between the church and the Selective Service allowing exemptions from the draft for missionaries. Before and after his missionary deferment, Romney also received nearly three years of deferments for his academic studies.

      • In April 1965, Romney registered with the Selective Service but was not considered readily available for military service until December 1970. When he became eligible for military service in 1970, he drew a high number in the annual draft lottery and at that time no one drawing higher than 195 was drafted. I drew a No. 18, the only lotto I ever won….

This step by Rush is long overdue IMHO. The left have been using lies and half truths to attack anyone that wont toe their line, for years. Each year they get a little more offensive and less truthful. But that’s what happens when people are allowed to avoid punishment for bad behavior. They just push the envelope until we now have the POTUS playing King of the liars.

Our hapless elected Republicans are to inept at speaking and countering these Soros funded (& tax payer funded) ‘media’ groups, spreading their hate over the airways with impunity.

Conservatives have controlled the ‘talk’ air waves for years, but never have stepped up to join in the fight to save our nation from progressives, as a campaign tactic. It’s time they joined the fray!

Fight fire with fire, the left uses lies, but lies are very hard to defend. If someone with equal exposure counters with the truth. Rush, Mark, Sean, Glenn etc should join as a force to counteract the lies of the left this election cycle.

The left run their outlets tax free, because progressives run our government. It’s time to take it back, a “fair share” step in the right direction.

You need to get your facts straight.
Ron Paul earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University‘s School of Medicine. Relocating with his wife to Michigan, Dr. Paul completed his medical internship at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He then served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force and in the United States Air National Guard, making him the only Veteran running for President. After serving his country, he became an OB/GYN and began his own private practice delivering over 4000 babies. He did not become a OB/GYN until after his service in the U.S. Air Force. If your going to make comments please try to be a honest as possible.

They support characters such as Rick Santorum who is no fan of limited government and Michelle Bachman – another neo-con zero.

Which leads me to this point – Beck acts as if he is a voice of the Tea Party and cries out for limited govt but yet he supports candidates that vote for big govt laws?? What gives?

This is just proof that the Media Matters exposure of Mr. Limbaugh for what he is really hit a nerve.

This amateurish web page looks like it was cobbled together by a 5 year old – simply linking to previous stories by the right wing drive by media.

    M. Limbaugh doesn’t actually dissect or challenge specifically what MM has reported on his Sandra Fluke attacks. The factually challenged Mr. Limbaugh realizes that he doesn’t have a leg to stand on and attacks MM in general terms ala Mr. O’Reilly.

      What lies?

I am just offering my take on this story?

Let’s see MM hit an nerve with Mr. Limbaugh – It’s obvious since Mr. Limbaugh has never in the past responded to any of his critics with a dedicated a section of his website.

Mr. Limbaugh’s MM web page doesn’t really offer anything new or present any real analysis of MM Sandra Fluke stories – this is self-evident.
      http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/pages/static/media_matters_facts.

Mr. Limbaugh is factually challenged – the evidence for this to far too voluminous to post. Every day Mr. Limbaugh presents analysis which is often in exact opposition to the facts.

PS. If you actually believe liberals are in power you are even more out of touch with reality than Mr. Limbaugh.

The sad thing is, Goose really believes the lie. This person is lost and should be the recipient of our pity, not our scorn. When you are guilty of the very thing you are accusing others of, you are indeed lost and up is down, black is white, and sadly, wrong becomes right. Lies circle the globe in minutes, but the truth follows and with it, justice. The lies of Media Matters will retreat away from the shining beacon of truth lighting the way for all to see.

I remember raising Canadian Geese when I was growing up. They were a lot of fun, but somehow, when faced with a properly motivated Fox, they became little more than two little piles on the ground; one of feathers, one of Fox crap. Ya see, the only thing a Canadian Goose has to fight with is a lot of squawking and (left wing) flapping.

You’re just not making any sense. How can your claim have any validity when you examine the 2010 mid-term results?

You are ignoring factual history, and stating something that exists only in your mind, with the hope that repeating it often enough will make it come true.

But I understand, it is a common, but flawed emotional response that is shared by most all liberals.

There is help for that if you would like to do some self examination.

      @billy

I think my reasoning is pretty clear. During the 2010 elections the house went to the GOP – this would have happened regardless of Mr. Limbaugh show. This was blowback against the great recession and any party in power would have felt it.

The reason I am referencing the 2006 election rather than 2010 is because the control of the Senate actually switched to the Democrats. The House was pretty much assumed to be lost for Republicans, however in order for the Democrats to win the Senate they had to win seats in Missouri, Montana, and Virginia which were all red states and long shots to elect Democratic senators.

Thanks to Mr. Limbaugh and his attacks on Michael J. Fox and Jim Webb Democrats actually did the unthinkable and took control of the Senate.

In 2010, despite the Tea Party wave the Senate did not change hands, partly due to the 2006 and 2008 Democratic gains and the GOP will be hard pressed to take control in 2012.

So thanks to Mr. Limbaugh you had a swing of 4 seats -2 GOP +2 Dems for 6 years – both voted for Obamacare, Frank Dodd, Lilly Ledbetter and all the bills the right hates.

As far you war analogy I was actually referring to the battle of ideas.

You’ve got Mr. Limbaugh, Mr. Hannity, Mr. Beck, Mr. Levin, & Ms. Ingraham, Mr. Savage on 500 radio stations every day from 9 to 6 all basically screaming about the same thing and defending each other’s ideas. And you still think Mr. Limbaugh is a being victimized or “under ceaseless assault” as Ms. Ritz so eloquently puts it, by some website which no one other than media and politics junkies actually know anything about.

You’ve got FNC from 8 to 11 (prime time TV) essentially parroting all that has been said that day on the radio with Mr. Hannity with his own show and Ms. Van Susteren airing daily sound bites from Mr. Limbaugh and carrying water for him during the Sandra Fluke fiasco.

You’ve got a SCOTUS justice who thinks he’s an AM radio talk show host throwing out GOP talking points during SCOTUS hearings.

You have a Republican Fed chair.
You had a Republican Sec of Defense for 2 years.
      You have the House.
You have a 62 member Tea Party Caucus headed by a former GOP presidential candidate.
You have the filibuster in the Senate.
You’ve got conservatives dominating the Sunday shows which is when the majority of Americans get their politics fix.
      http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/04/fair-study-republicans-sunday-shows.php

So you are all upset about one cable news channel, and some radio shows?

When you have ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, NPR, all cheerleading for you on their news based, and entertainment shows. Then add to that most major papers and magazines to boot.

And you are complaining? Why? Because most intelligent people watch FOX, and listen to Conservative radio?

Why can’t liberals manage to hold an audience large enough to compete with FOX and all those radio hosts?

Because you are like 20% of the population, and a good portion of that 20% are owsers, that’s why.

You actually think the networks and NPR are cheerleading for Obama during their half hour (1 hour on NPR) nightly newscasts. And this counters the 18 to 20 hours of AM hate radio. Just listen to the hate talkers themselves the 5% of the time when they’re not bashing Democrats and the POTUS their bragging about how many listeners they have. Mr. Limbaugh in particular often brags how he has more listeners than all networks newscast combined.

You should also read the Howard Kurtz piece on the coverage Mr. Obama got during the GOP primary. A study actually showed that of all the clowns in the GOP primary freak show and Mr. Obama, the POTUS actually received the most negative coverage.

      http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/04/23/media-favored-romney-over-obama-during-gop-primaries-study.html

Oh yes there are also the network morning shows the biggest of which recently gave Ms. Palin the platform to call Mr. Obama a socialist for a week.

And the newspapers like the NY Times and the Washington Post. Give me break – recall the run up to the Iraq war, Judith Miller, The Post editorial page and Valerie Plame.

And you’re actually conceding that liberala are really not in power at all since all they can’t even support a single talk show.

Come on Goose, the Daily Beast? Newsweek? Tina Brown? Ring any bells?
