Limbaugh Offers Theory on Obama Releasing Cert: ‘It’s All About the Polling Data’

Only Rush Limbaugh could infuse talk of a “snore fest,” unions, and his own appearance on reality TV while talking about the hot news of the day: Obama releasing his long-form birth certificate. Limbaugh tackled the issue in typical Limbaugh manner on radio today, laughing about the whole thing while also making some serious points.

In a 10-minute monologue at the opening of his radio program, Limbaugh offered his thoughts on why Obama chose to all of a sudden release the document.

For starters, why did Obama wait to reveal his long-form birth certificate? According to Rush Limbaugh, the answer is simple: “It’s all about the polling data.”

“I think up until now the polling data showed it was a winning issue for Obama; the birthers were considered crackpots, [and] the polling data showed that as long as it continued that way there was hay to be made by Obma not releasing the birth certificate and stoking these people,” he said.

“Then trump comes along,” he explained, “and I really believe that the internal polling data that the White House runs shows that the issue was starting to take place.”

Then Trump moved on to some comedy, characterizing the release as a “reality star,” Trump, forcing the president‘s hand before calling Trump’s press conference “absolutely hilarious” compared to Obama’s “snore fest.” And just to rub it in, he wondered if NBC reality star TV trainer Jillian Michaels (from “The Biggest Loser”) might force Obama to produce a budget.

      plus to delay providing what appears to be a birth certificate and two years, hmmmmmm.

      Then there is that pesky 14th amendment,I believe Thomas Jefferson had influence in its’ writing, concerning requirements (natural born parents) for the office of the US President. Last time I checked Kenya was not a state in the U S.

    Here is the importance of a birth certificate. When my daughter was born, the BC had a different last name from mine, because her mother and I weren’t married. I fought to have an official BC listing her last name as mine. That being said, this is an issue best left where it lies. Nothing in obamas COLB, tells me what I want to know. Focus on his policies, his beliefs, and his outright destruction to what was, is, and always be my COUNTRY. All who want to see him gone, have a legitimate reason, let us focus on ways to get him gone. Shine a BRIGHT LIGHT on his record, on his actions since he took office. My Sergeant used to say, “in 5 minutes, this will be a memory.” Let obama become that memory by focusing on the issues.

    You are right, Rush. One of the headlines in the last few days said that only 38% believe that Obama was born in Hawaii. OMG, I thought that this was horrific that so few believed. Obama HAD to put it to rest sooner than later because Trump convinced many that there was a question about it. If the polls were higher Obama would have let Trump continue with the charade; but, it blew up in his face.

      Rush is right its all about capturing a segment of voters: those on the fence on this BC issue who werent birthers but leaned that way over “why doesnt he just release it” Well BHO did release it and its a big told you so to Trunmp and birthers which will have an uptick effect along with some new followers… I mean zombies. Is his legal name Barry Soetoro or BHO? If it was never legally changed back to BHO after his mothers marriage to Soetoro failed and Barry returned to Hawaii then every single time he has signed his name Barack H Obama II he is committing identity fraud.

      This is what people should be focusing their energy on not a birth certificate which many of us have warned is a dead end hunt!

      B.O. overplayed his hand. A number of states are requiring a birth certificate for any candidate who is on the primary ballot. Since B.O. wants to run for a second term, he needed to produce this certificate. HOWEVER, by waiting so long, even if the certificate is real, half of us aren‘t going to believe it because we’ve heard so many stories: it never existed, it was lost, it was misplaced, it will not be released, etc. And there are so many, many more questions, such as his supposed adoption by his stepfather, how he registered at college and whether it was as an American student or as a foreign student, and the lovely Connecticut social security number.

      Birth certificate speculation, isolated from other known disqualifications, has been a diversion from the fact that Obama’s Kenyan father precluded his being a “natural born citizen” meaning born on U.S. soil of U.S. citizen parents.

      In 1866 John Bingham, author of the 14th Amendment, stated on the House floor:
      “Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.”[1]

      This definition was unchallenged during the heated debates ongoing at the time. The House floor is certainly the proper place for such debates but no objection was raised among the members, the consensus being that each agreed with the definition.

      The U.S. Supreme Court soon confirmed this definition!
      Minor v. Happersett (1874): ‘At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country, of parents who were its citizens, became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further, and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction, without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case, it is not necessary to solve these doubts. It is sufficient, for everything we have now to consider, that all children, born of citizen parents within the jurisdiction, are themselves citizens.’

      Clearly two distinct components constitute a natural born citizen, “all children born in a country” and “of parents who were its citizens”. Being born a citizen is only one part of being a natural born citizen, they are not equivalent.

      The House definition of a natural born citizen, confirmed by Minor v. Happersett, was reaffirmed in 2008 by Senate Resolution 511:
      “Whereas John Sidney McCain, III, was born to American citizens on an American military base in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That John Sidney McCain, III, is a `natural born Citizen’ under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States.”[2]

      It is clearly stated and well understood that a natural born citizen is one born on U.S. soil of parents who are each a U.S. citizen!

      Obama is further ineligible by dual citizenship for being born a British citizen pursuant to the British Nationality Act of 1948, as his father was a British citizen of colonial Kenya.[3]

      This is interesting, my wife was born in Hawaii, when it was a territory, we had to get her long form for a overseas Visa in the 90′s, and it doesn’t look anything like that one. It has more detail, the official seal, and much more information. That looks more like the short form we were given when our kids were born. I am not saying Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii, I think he was, but don‘t tell me that’s the long form.

      So you know that the Court was careful to point out that the definition of natural born citizen was never a settled issue, people were still arguing about it, and that they weren’t ruling on the issue because it had nothing to do with the case at hand. And of course you know that they finally did rule on it 24 years later.

      “It thus clearly appears that by the law of England for the last three centuries, beginning before the settlement of this country, and continuing to the present day, aliens, while residing in the dominions possessed by the crown of England, were within the allegiance, the obedience, the faith or loyalty, the protection, the power, and the jurisdiction of the English sovereign; and therefore every child born in England of alien parents was a natural-born subject, unless the child of an ambassador or other diplomatic agent of a foreign state, or of an alien enemy in hostile occupation of the place where the child was born. III. The same rule was in force in all the English colonies upon this continent down to the time of the Declaration of Independence, and in the United States afterwards, and continued to prevail under the constitution as originally established.”

      You know that it doesn’t matter what anyone said back in 1866 because that was before the Supreme Court ruled.

      Being born a citizen is equivalent to being a natural born citizen, you don’t need to be a lawyer to know that, you just need a good dictionary.

      You know that the resolution on John McCain’s situation is just that – a resolution on John McCain’s situation. It has nothing to do with citizens whose eligibility had never been questioned. And you know, but fail to mention that Obama was a cosponsor of the resolution.

      it’s clearly laid out in the constitution. they made an exception for the people that founded because they were from other countries… so they could be president. their children could if they bred with another citizen, it’s considered natural born. meaning you are automatically a citizen of your parents nation.

      people could come here for a funeral, to the US from Canada, have their child in the US, because of bad timing with travel. does that mean the US is going to keep their baby? no. IF the family wants them to be a US citizen, we will recognize it as a US citizen, and they can pay taxes. IF they choose that they are natural born canadian citizen, Canada would recognize that and we would not grant them citizenship.

      * natural born means both your parents hold the same nationality. meaning you are automatically that nationality.

      FACT: Arnold Swartzenager, is a US Citizen and can’t be president. so they CLEARLY are not the same thing.
