Limbaugh on Gingrich SC Victory: ‘The Republican Establishment Is in Full-Blown Panic’

“Folks, the Republican establishment is in a full-blown panic,” conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said on Monday.

Limbaugh took the time to point out that the reaction from “Republican consultants” and “establishment people” was almost exactly what he had predicted back in November, 2011. Limbaugh had said that a Gingrich-Romney upset would cause a violent reaction from the “establishment” types. So far, he’s been proven correct.

“They’re in an [up]roar, a panic, they are secretly trying to get Mitch Daniels [R-IN] to get back in the race. There are entreaties being made to Bobby Jindal [R-LA] to get back in the race. They are panicked! They are scared to death they are going to lose the house and not win the senate…that’s their primary concern. It’s about the senate!”

Why would the establishment put such a large emphasis on keeping the senate?

“It’s about being in charge of the money. It’s not about cutting spending, the republican establishment has not signed on to the cutting spending business,” Limbaugh said.

“’What do you mean, who are the Republican establishment?,’” Limbaugh asked. “The Republican establishment is two things: they don’t like conservatives and they’re not really all that concerned about spending. They want to be in charge of it. That‘s who they are. And they are not going to be in charge of it if they don’t hold the House and if they don’t pick up the Senate – and that’s really what they want.”

If holding the Senate and the House is at the forefront of “the establishment’s” mind, what did a loss for Romney in South Carolina mean?

Listen to Limbaugh explain how Newt Gingrich pulled off a South Carolina victory via Daily Rushbo:

“Newt has thrown this thing into a tizzy! They don’t know what to do. They wanted this wrapped up. They don’t understand why it happened. They are blaming all the wrong people. They are blaming their own voters. They’re blaming the media. They’re blaming stupidity on the part of the voters. They haven’t the slightest idea why this happened in South Carolina. It’s not too much democracy going on in their minds; they just don’t understand it,” Limbaugh said.

“They don’t understand the base of their own party. They resent the base of their own party. They don’t understand the passion. I was telling Snerdley this morning, ’cause he came in here, gave me his theory, which I promptly shot down,” Limbaugh continued. “His theory is that we all owe ABC this, ’cause if it weren’t for ABC and John King asking the questions, Newt woulda never been — and to a certain extent, that’s true. But why?”

Limbaugh went on to explain his theory for why South Carolina voters flocked to the former Speaker of the House on Saturday via rushlimbaugh.com:

…the American conservative middle class are the ones playing by the rules. They are the ones that obey the law to the best of their ability. They raise their kids. They try to shield their kids from cultural rot and depravity. They try to keep them off drugs. They try to get them into college. They follow as best they can all the rules and they’re laughed at and made fun of and they are impugned everywhere they look. They go to the movies, they’re mocked and made fun of. They turn on the radio, listen to music, they’re laughed at, mocked, and made fun of. They turn on television, watch an average television show, they are laughed at, mocked and made fun of. They open the newspaper, same thing. They’ve had it. They’ve been dealing with this for over 20 years, and nobody‘s fought back for ’em. Not one person ever has fought back for ‘em.

The last time somebody actually spoke up in this large a forum, a presidential forum, would have to be Reagan; and Reagan did it not so much by what he said (although he had his moments). He did it by winning. He did it by skunking these people! Since then, the Republican leadership has not seemed focused so much on winning and they sit there and they take it. Whenever their own voters are insulted — when their own voters are laughed at and impugned and called racists, sexist, bigot homophobes — the Republicans don‘t defend them nor themselves because they’re scared to death the independents are gonna be upset, or the media is gonna be upset.

So the base of the Republican Party, the voters, have been bottling up for 25 years, a resentment — an anger, if you will — that their own party won’t fight for them, won’t fight for itself, won‘t fight for what’s right. So when Newt gets teed up with these questions from Juan Williams and John King and whoever else and simply says what they’ve been thinking for 25 years, they say, “Finally!” What they want right now is fight-back, what they want is push-back, what they want is kick-back, what they want is smack-down! What they want is for these people who have been laughing at them and mocking them and impugning them, put in their place.

They’re tired of the cultural rot taking place in the country. They’re tired of the incessant growth of government and spending. They’re tired of it, and they‘re frustrated as they can be that members of their own party who get elected can’t seem to articulate their own passions. Politics is about passion, and the Republican Party doesn’t seem to have it! There’s always fear of somebody. Fear of the media, fear of Democrats. Well, Newt doesn‘t act like he’s got any fear. So how many wives does he got? “I don’t care!” What did he do for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac? “I don’t care.” What are his national disapproval ratings?

“I don’t care! Finally somebody’s telling the bad guys who they are, what to do and that we’re not gonna take it anymore — or that we don’t want to take it anymore.” Now, you can sit there and you can say that that’s cockeyed, that elections aren’t won that way. Uhhhh, they aren’t? Who just won? Who’s already leading in the polls in Florida? George Will had a fascinating statistic over the weekend. Mitt Romney — Mr. Electability, according to the Republican establishment; Mr. The Only Guy That Can Give Us the Senate — is 9-and-16 in his election career. He’s won nine and lost 16. He’s nine out of 25. That, they tell us, is Mr. Electability — and they’re sitting around, the base is, and they’re saying, “We don‘t care about this traditional stuff that you care about that’s kept you in second place all these years.”

To consider Newt as a conservative is an oxymoron. His political track record clearly shows that he has been a liberal leaning big government progressive.

Some get invited to the party some have to crash it. I believe Newt has decided he would crash the party. He’s not the chosen one for the Establishment non conservative Republicans. Romney is their man, he wants to run us into financial debt and chaos, so the elite can control corporate power in the midst of the progressive socialist attempting to control our government and pretend to fend for the masses.

There are democrats who are the progressive socialist who wish to enslave us all and then there are the corporate fascist who want to make their money by illegally causing prices to rise for their own benefit. They lie in waiting manipulating would be candidates that will pass stupid laws so they can benefit illegally. Seat belt laws, that only save insurance companies money by lessening the payout for injuries. No helmet laws for those who ride, because they may live and that cost more than a funeral. They make us all pay for car insurance, soon we will all be paying for health insurance. I’m sure before it is over we will all have to by life insurance. The can’t make us buy their products or can they?

Either way they are both attempting to take our wealth as fast as they can.

I’ll vote for anyone but Obama. If we can slow it down long enough to get our heads out of our @$$#$ and vote these lunatics out of office I would vote for Mickey Mouse.

1998 was the last year that Gingrich, Paul and Santorum were all in Congress. Gingrich’s annual and lifetime American Conservative Union ratings were far better than both of the others:

100% – Gingrich: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (90% Lifetime Rating as of 1998)

88% – Paul: Annual 1998 ACU Rating (88% Lifetime Rating as of 1998)

Glenn has become a disappointment to me. I remember when he said he doesn’t do politics… he leaves that to Rush and company. I was psyched over that. Well, he should have taken his own advice. It is obvious to me that Glenn violated that and is painting with a very broad brush. He seems to want to show how much he has learned about history that he indiscriminately throws candidates into buckets… this guys is just like Teddy Roosevelt, Jackson, FDR, Wilson, etc. just because the person relates to something about the individual. Of course in Glenn’s mind he assigns the worst case. Well, when those same people or other politicians compare themselves to Lincoln, Reagan or Bush does he make disparaging remarks? No! Well, Lincoln, Reagan or Bush have had equally bad policies to Teddy Roosevelt, Jackson, FDR, Wilson, etc. I’m getting sick of Glenn, and I have been a huge Glenn supporter. I just think he is judging things with a bias. Why, Glenn, why?

@VTsickfreak, Dittos on everything you said. I too remember Glenn saying “I don’t do politics”. I guess this proves Glenn is a liar? By his broad brush standards, he is.

And for the record, Andrew Jackson was a great man and an Awesome president! Yeah he killed a few Indians, while taking Florida from the Spanish, oops… He once killed an “enemy” in a duel after the man besmirched his wife. He was supportive of states’ rights. He was strongly against the national bank, he vetoed the renewal of its charter and ensured its collapse. But to Glenn Beck, simply complimenting Jackson in a speech, makes Newt a progressive. What a simpleton. If you want political analysis and history, Rush Limbaugh. If you want Michael Jackson impersonations and End Times updates, Glenn is your man.

I think Glenn may be back on the bottle, seriously! What? No seriously, let’s start a rumor, how Christian.

He also said it himself, saying he’s a “conservative in the mold of Hamilton and Teddy Roosevelt”. Hamilton was the one who originally proposed an imperial presidency for the Constitution: president for life, and a congress with power to pass laws on “any subject whatsoever”. And Roosevelt, of course, was the one who started the long list of imperial presidents of the 20th and 21st centuries.

He might as well call himself a “conservative in the mold of FDR, Johnson, and Obama”.

You’re mistaken SLVRSRFR . . . spend a bit bit more time learning before spouting off.

That Gingrich feels the need to back the federal government out of its prolific entanglements gradually is a sign of responsible realism. He definitely views the states as far more appropriate holders of most powers to make and enforce law than the federal government, but also understands that such a transfer of power cannot be completed in just a few years time. The federal power grab took over a hundred years, and anyone who thinks it can be successfully reversed in several years knows too little about actually getting things done.

Mr. Gingrich is intelligent and pragmatic enough to work backward from the current federal structure, systematically diluting it and ultimately returning its power to the states in appropriate areas, and in the proper sequence, so as not to lead this nation into a chaotic failure . . . we cannot afford failure, as the liberals would cite it to support their position that all power should be concentrated at the federal level.

Open your eyes, read what he has written, and digest it before believing that he desires to continue growing our bugeoning government.

What happens after the election, when he proves to be who he’s said he is all along? I am no backer of Romney but this is disturbing in the extreme.

Of the remaining choices I would much rather have Santorum, but his message is lost in the media frenzy so the lost lemming voters are ignoring him. My diagreements with Romney are purely about policy and his continuous changing course and beliefs. I do not believe the Book of Mormon, but, that doesn’t mean I dislike Mormons. Every one I have met has been a trustworthy, honest, and friendly person which is more than I can say about Ron Paul supporters.

It is human nature for people to vote for one with a common upbringing. Mormons feel comfortable with Romney. The reply you received reinforces that view. To the Mormon what happened to your view of not judging others. That is one of your religious values. The important thing is who can get the job done. Who will best understand leaders of other nations, as well as how the government works. Who can work across party lines. Who is the best qualified and who will say what they mean and mean what they say? Some things Gingrich has said some oppose but he always has an explanation and facts to back up what he says. He is a walking encyclopedia. When Romney attacked him on prescription coverage for seniors Gingrich stood strong for his positon and he is right. Just imagine having to pay full retail for medication your doctor says you need. For everyone who pays a copay that is a very small figure compared to the real cost of the drug. Romney is a multimillionare so that would not present a problem for him but most of the population is not in that financial position.

DIAMONDDOG, I agree, Rush is correct. The Republican party and the Democrats should both be sweating it. “We the People” are tired of the greed and corruption in politics. I see a third party forming after this election. A Conservative Party. For those of you who believe that the Tea Party has died you are so mistaken. We may be forced to support a nomination that we are not particularly fond of in this election but that does not mean that whoever gets in office will get a pass. Right now we have one purpose and that is to get the progressives out of the White House. Look up your local Tea Party and see for yourselves. This is the begining of a true movement that will not be silenced. Our numbers are still growing inspite of all the hear-say. Look to see a more organized, refined, and prepared group of concerned Americans unafraid to speak out for the freedoms and constitutional rights for ALL. A third party will be necessary to weed out the weak politicians that have caved in to the coruption and temptations of Washington. Those who forget that they represent the people and they will be held accountable for their actions and their records while holding office.

Newt is the establishment…he has been a Washington insider for 40 plus years selling influence for millions.

The establishment is upset because they know the real Gingrich, because they worked with him and they know how corrupt and unstable he is; and they know that he would stand no chance of winning in the general election.

Newt’s favorability is only 28% amongst the General electorate and Obama’s is 51%. Consider that Obama owns the media,Newty will be lucky to win 5 states in the General.

This is concerning because it could very well affect congressional races and also if Republicans know Gingrich is going to lose they are not going to be donating money to the GOP. I know I won’t be writing a check if Gingrich is the nominee.

They dont care left from right, and neither does Obama. It is a game, they use each other to play us. It is about power. Your choice is progressive left or progressive right. Of course you can stomp your feet, bitch about liberty and the constitution, and refuse to play. That is cool, I applaud you. Unfortunately, the other 85% of the country will play and nothing will ever change.

Load your guns and dig in.

tea party…fat lot of good they did this election.

I hope we can regroup and figure out how to beat this game. This election was a fiasco though. Newt or Romney…Both hold such great tea party ideals…blah…
