‘Litter Bug’: Glenn’s 6-Year-Old Guest Reveals Another Indoctrination Song

“Boycott, petition, let the big business know / that if we mess it up here, there’s no where else we can go.”
Last week, we introduced you to an Earth Day song* that included those lyrics. And if the words aren’t enough to raise your eyebrows, who was singing them should do it. The performers were a group of elementary school children.
After we published the initial clip, Glenn played it on radio. That’s when a listener called in to say that she was the one who took the video and her daughter was one of the young children singing the song taught to them by teachers. That woman is Rachel from Tennessee, and her little daughter is 6-year-old Kyla.
Rachel and Kyla were Glenn’s guests on radio today to talk about the song, how it transpired, and the school’s refusal to remove it from the program. Rachel revealed that there were multiple parents upset by the song, and despite the administration’s claim that the lyrics were sent home ahead of time, she said that wasn’t the case.
In fact, Kyla even performed the anti-business, pro-global warming agenda song live. But the highlight of the segment was when Glenn asked if she’d been taught any other songs. Guess what, she had. It’s called “Litter Bug,” sung to the tune of Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go:”
*The original video clip has been removed by YouTube. We are working to replace it with a new version.

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 5:35pmLet’s try an experiment, strictly for posterity okay. Everyone on earth keep a diary of every days weather that THEY themselves are living with for the rest of their lives from now on. In the future let all that data be compiled and come up with a figure that TRULY reflects the actual percentage of normalcy to abnormal occurrences or trends. Include all events. Hurricanes, tornados, volcanoes, sand storms, earthquakes, tsunamis’, floods, draughts, any and all, include normal daily ho-hum stuff. No perceived or emotional entries, only actual facts as they have affected that individual’s personal daily life. Unfortunately the, “I want recognition and grant money for saving the earth in my own lifetime crowd that wants it both ways now would never go for it.

Unless they’re nuts, their ceaseless cries of ‘racist!” despite wide support for Congressman West can be the only explanation. The trolls throw that word at every chance, and have been for months despite all evidence to the contrary. Every one of us Conservatives can tell a troll we back West, and the next day that same lib will be here calling us racists again.
So–paid; or nuts; or just nasty little people mad at the world? You know, if they tried needling at HuffPo like they do here, HuffPo would ban them after their first post.
Many of us are starting to work together to not answer a troll directly or using its name. How about joining us? If we want to counter a troll, we do it by posting to and for each other. That way, we stay informed and the troll is basically frozen out of the conversation. When they find no validation here among us, they’ll go back under the bridge where they belong.

People on this site tend to use that word for anybody who has an opinion that disagrees with the majority even if they show as much civility as the people they are arguing with . That seems silly to me. What’s the point of having comments if they all say the same thing? A real troll now that’s something else. He would be more likely to pose as someone who agrees with your politics but is obviously a bad person who says nasty things and uses genuinely violent or racist language. He would do this to trick some of the others of you into agreeing with him so then he can point at what you wrote and say “see that’s what those people are like.” I see a lot of those types here. I’m sure some of them are trolls, I hope you are smart enough not to fall into their traps.

Far be it from me to tell you how to spend your time, but it is precisely liberal sites that need your input most!
Be unfailingly polite, present your evidence and arguments as succinctly and clearly as possible, ignore those who just want to name-call, and engage with those who seem open to real debate. Posted on April 29, 2011 at 5:20pmAs a former teacher, I am appalled at what “good teaching” looks like. Teachers who indoctrinate their students into the progressive mind set are praised, while teachers who teach their children to think and question the world around them are not. Look at the standards that your state and soon nation are going to use. Look what is not included in them. I know that in Georgia where I taught, I was only able to teach about the people in the standards, as that is what the children would be tested on. Our books left out great pieces of history and never told the entire story. We teach our children that they are able to go poor work and still pass, as I was not able to fail a child and had to give each child many opportunities to redo or turn in work before I could ask for permission to give the child a grade lower than a 70 or a D. We are not teaching our children to mastery. How many of your children truly know their basic math facts without using their fingers? I had gifted students who couldn’t do this simple memorization and had to add 2 plus 3 on their fingers.
Then there are the poor teachers who are extremely difficult to get out of the classroom. Even teachers who come to school drunk are difficult to remove because of the unions. I could opt out of being in the union, but still had to pay the union due fee to the unions for their efforts in negotiating my contract.
Too many teachers are afraid and won’t speak up. Those that do are labeled trouble makers. I know as I was and am. I have teacher friends who are all gung ho about unions and think that they are going to protect them, and don’t realize that the unions will hurt them and their pensions if they keep this up. The unions have brain washed teachers into believing that they need the unions for jobs, high pay checks, and protection.
Parents need to wise up and look at all of the responsibilities that schools have taken away from them. Schools feed children breakfast and lunch. Schools will help you get your child eyeglasses and medical exams. Schools have become the child’s second home, as many kids are in school longer than they are at home because of before and after school programs. Parents need to focus on educating their children and not on providing their children with stuff. Spending time with your child is free and will help you to better understand what is truly happening in our schools.
Glenn, I am an ex-teacher who would love to get involved in this. It’s a huge problem. I know of first graders who cannot read, but have straight A’s. Can’t figure that one out. I also know of children in fourth and fifth grade who can’t read. It’s not that these children have a learning disability, it’s that they were poorly or never taught how. It makes my blood boil. This must stop if America is going to continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 4:36pmThe indoctrination center, err, unionized public school, my kids have gone to have the 1st graders do a play based on “The Great Kapoc Tree” book which, if I could summarize, basically says man is destroying the rain forests and that animals are more important than man (which is weird because they’ve been doing the play for 19 years and the rain forests have grown in size since, but I digress) and cutting down a single tree is bad, etc… Ironically or should I say hypocritically, at the door they handed every audience member a 4-page program (which last I checked paper came from trees, but I digress further) which contained tips for being green– my personal favorite: “have a garage sale and donate the money to an environmental group” but also “tell your parents to buy a green car”. You‘d think I’d need some of the money from the garage sale to put towards the green car, but I digress yet again.
The teacher hosting it was handing out those bacteria laden bags from China because plastic bags are evil and “will soon be gone” (of course, digressing even further, she missed the fact that bill to banish plastic bags got rejected in CA since it would eliminate a 1000 jobs).

I wish I could give you an answer to your concerns, but solid parenting is about the only chance available. My children are grown and I’m a grandfather, so I’m no longer at risk. Even solid parenting might not help, because the schools teach the kids how to get around parental instruction and ‘interference’.
Children are taught in schools how to get abortions without mom and dad knowing, with help from the staff. They are taught how to petition a judge to get one, even if underage.
Spank your child and a teacher finds out, expect a visit by Child Services in two hours. Then, a long investigation even if the kid has no bruises. That teaches little brats that, if spanked, they can call police.
Teacher unions also offer summer workshops for teachers and administrators on how to defeat parental ‘interference’ in how things are done. Note, too, the ambiguity with which school handbooks are written. Any passage can be interpreted to mean anything the school wants, subject to change as needed.
It used to be “don‘t litter’. Now, it‘s ’big oil is greedy’.
While little kids singing songs like this is cute for mom and dad to watch, how much time was used to memorize it when the children could have been learning to spell new words instead?

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 11:23pm@ Tierrah Because if you work in a state without a union, the principal can still let you go, even with tenure. Not all states have unions, although even in states where teachers are not able to unionize, the NEA has things called “professional organizations,” which are very similar to unions, but teachers can’t strike.
Teachers have to teach to the tests, as that it what the districts want. The districts are too stupid to realize that if you get a child a solid education and teach them how to think that they will pass the test without a worry. Districts only want teachers to touch on what the standards say the children need to know, anything more and you’re in a heap of trouble.
As a teacher, I closed the door and did what I would want my own children to receive in the form of an education, but I was not the norm. Many teachers are too scared to do what is right and go along with the flow. One must remember that bright teachers leave teaching by the dozens when they realize that they aren‘t able to use their brain and do what they’d want for their children.

The big difference between littering and an abortion is the one is legal and one is not.
Furthermore, abortion is not legal because of, as you believe, “liberal, Marxist, communist, anarchists,” in the White House. No, it is legal because of the Supreme Court decision in 1973. Thus, it would not matter whether both liberals and conservatives wanted abortion outlawed, it would still be legal. The only what to change that would be to pass an amendment.

The truth is that polluting is bad for the planet and humans. It doesn’t matter who is the worst. Apparently you think that because other countries pollute worse than the U.S. we shouldn’t teach our kids that polluting is bad.
Whether or not you believe global warming exists, there are adverse health effects from pollution. That you cannot dispute, although you will probably try. Acid rain is good for us, right? Polluted drinking water is good for us, right? Having trash piles the size of Texas floating in the ocean is good for the earth, right?
According to you, because other countries pollute worse than us, there is no need for us to try and make the earth a cleaner place. That‘s like saying that because we aren’t the worst human rights violators we might as well not do anything to fix our problems since someone else is worse.

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 7:56pmThe truth is liberals only care about these type of issues because they can use them to indoctrinate children against capitalism and in favor of big government, and because they make great weapons for attacking enemies.
Take littering for instance: liberals get together to hold massively uncivil, unhinged protests, completely trashing every place they go and leaving behind a mess for others to clean up. And they lecture us on taking care of our environment?
Most conservatives I know on the other hand chooses to teach their children by example. When they go out into nature or hold a Tea Party rally they work hard to leave the area looking better than it was before they got there. They don’t need big government to teach their children how to not litter and be responsible stewards of the earth because they live it every day.
And yes there are idiots who call themselves conservative that are not responsible. But then, they aren’t truly conservative. If you really want the type of small government our founding fathers desired then you MUST believe in and practice personal responsibility; we the people must step in where government pulls back to provide charity and self-regulation in the free market (thats where we use our pocketbooks to force businesses to behave responsibly)

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 11:18pmWe can’t all home school our children, but we most definitely can be diligent in monitoring what they are learning. If enough parents complain to school boards, the progressive indoctrination will be halted. School boards will eventually bow to pressure because they don’t want bad publicity in their districts. I speak from experience as I am married to a high school teacher.
Open daily dialogues with your kids and you will be surprised at what happens in school (some of it not so good). Encouraging them to talk about their school day is good for their self-esteem as well. They will realize that you care enough about them to ask questions and compliment their achievements. And you just might save your child’s 3rd grade class from becoming used as a tool for progressivism.

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 11:28pmYoung Americans may not understand the improved quality of life we all have because of the rejection of unrestrained business practices. The sun was often obscured in several cities (LA, Denver) because of a “smog.” a word that has almost left the vocabulary in the United States. Go to the industrialized areas of China though and you’ll see what that means. The sun is a rare sight because of the smog and they say living in those areas is like smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Thanks EPA.
Rivers in US caught fire because of the solvents dumped into them. Carcinogens and other toxins were found in drinking water because chemical plant discharges were unregulated. Now, thanks to the EPA, that’s almost unheard of.
Thanks to OSHA – sorry big business – workplace safety has shifted from blaming the employee for whatever killed, maimed or gave him cancer or blacklung to businesses being required to provide a safe workplace.
That is only two examples. Every American is safer and has a better quality of life because of government regulations. Now everybody says that “the government” is overregulating, but the fact is that the government has regulated those things only because “We the People” demanded a better life. We the People said we want a safe place to work, clean water to drink, air safe to breath. That’s why those regulations exist.
That’s a perspective you should research before you rail against “government regulation.”

Posted on April 30, 2011 at 2:39pmSo if I am to Encinom’s logic, than it is perfectly fine to make our children into compassionate little puppets than to teach them to think for themselves? As long as it is for the sake of making them “compassionate” than the ends justify the means don’t they?
I understand all too well where this leads. Somehow progressives think they can control what they are doing, but they have no idea what they have created. The same curse that has held humanity since the beginning of letting someone else decide for you because “he can save you, all you need to do is give up your ability to think.”
Be careful starring into the abyss, you might not like what you find.

Posted on April 30, 2011 at 3:36pmI think you need to get more involved in a spelling book.
If I teach my kids to think for themselves, how am I supposed to indoctrinate them into christianity and teach them not to question it?

you’re ridiculous. Unions are what keep abuses at bay. They are needed for the continuation of humane practices. Surely you remember what industry did to workers before unions? Or did you miss that lesson in history class.
I am sick of people disrespecting teachers, blaming them for everything. They’re teaching our kids for Christ sake, and the large, large majority trying to do their best. I had great teachers in elementary school, middle school, and high school, and it sickens me to hear people like you belittle them and say they don’t deserve the RIGHT of unions.
Also, these “songs” that the children and singing are completely legitimate. Petitioning is a right in the CONSTITUTION, and that of course includes the right to do it because of corporations.
As for the litter song, really? Complaining about a song about trying to keep our earth beautiful? I WANT the children to learn about actions like that, so maybe they can help reverse the complete carelessness of the previous generations. Even the Bible commands us to respect the earth. People seem to like to cherry pick.

Posted on May 1, 2011 at 9:21amToo bad none of the kids actually know what they are singing, and that the song that they are singing from came from Wham. I wonder if they paid royalties for it?
