Live on Lebanese TV: Politicians Nearly Brawl Over Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

Dr. Mustafa Alush and Dr. Faez Shakor Brawl Over Syrian President Assad on Lebanese TV

A contentious exchange escalated into a near-brawl as two politicians argued over Syrian president Bashar al-Assad on a live Lebanese television program. The scene erupted when former Lebanese parliament member, Dr. Mustafa Alush, called Assad a liar — a slur Dr. Faez Shakor of the Ba‘ath party didn’t take lying down.

According to Ynet’s translation of the Arabic-language exchange, Alush said, “I don’t believe him, Bashar Assad. I just don’t believe him,” to which Shakor responded, “Who are you to not believe President Assad?

Alush then accused Shakor of “collaborating with (Syrian) intelligence.”

At this stage, Shakor attacked Alush and threw a glass of water at him. The unfortunate presenter tried to separate the two and asked them to calm down, but at this point Alush had already picked up his chair with the intention of throwing it.

One of the stage workers then came into play, the broadcast was halted and the show took a commercial break.

Somehow, the two political rivals eventually calmed down long enough to finish the show.

I agree. And this is why the old saying: “Let cooler heads prevail” won’t be a consideration anytime soon. There are no ‘cool’ heads in the middle east. It is a toilet waiting to be flushed.

I wish our politicians believed in something other than rhetoric, and padding their pockets. At least you know where these two stand…… just wolves, not wolves in sheep clothing. I can respect the man that is truthful where he stands.
I am not saying that I agree with their beliefs mind you.

More proof Islam is a religion of peace. Well actually there is not much mention of peace or love in the koran just lots of hate and revenge stuff. If God wrote the Bible, then Satan wrote the koran.

Your thinking is archaic and cave like……..there are millions of Christian Arabs and Jews. Read your history, learn about Lebanon…….up until the 1970 civil war the President was always Christian and the Prime Minister Islamic. They speak French and Arabic and contrary to your vast intellectual knowledge the Lebanese are some of the most prosperous and forward thinking people in the Middle East. I think you left your white robe and hood in your cave.

Seems that your are angry….sail away. lol….Ever been to Lebanon???? I have. They are NOT the educated , west leaning, wunderkind you describe. Some are..most are not. What is left there is a lot of wild-eyed muslim fanatics. The Christians are either gone or hiding somewhere. Some are prosperous..most are not. Lebanese Americans are great people. The best of Lebanon has long left the area or they have succombed to Islamic fanaticism.
AND…I don’t have a white robe and hood….If I did ..I would certainly tell you for you are nothing to me and nothing that I should lie to.

I would like to point out that Lebanon is the only Arab country in the Middle East with religious freedom. They are light years ahead of their theocratic neighbors.

The one on the right was angry because the one on the left ugly camal inpregnated his prized camal without permission and so they could not agree on compensation . A few goats and a wife that were offered was a insult since he already had some of both he wanted more from the one on the left so they finally agreed on a pile of camal dung, plus one wife, 2 goats, 3 palistinian slaves and both agreed to not speek of this unfortunate time so long as the one on the left took the offspring of the one on the rights prized camal because both agreed that it to would be ugly and worth very little. As for the wife that was given away she to is ugly but the one on the right doesn’t know it yet.

Syria until recently was “overseer” of Lebanon. Syria kept Hezbollah in power there. Shortly after that..the Obama adminstration reinstated the ambassadorship to Syria…it’s recently withdrawn the Ambassador to Syria..what a shock huh? More to the point..of course tensions in Lebanon are high about Syria. Syria is either an oppressor or a policeman depending on which side of the extremist aisle you’re on in Lebanon. In the bigger picture- Iran arms and funds Hezbollah through Syria. With Assad’s power waning will Hebollah get involved? What will Iran do when it loses it’s corridor through Syria to Hamas? Will the Egyptians take over that role once Assad falls? Will Islamists take over Syria?
