UPDATE:
WASHINGTON (The Blaze/AP) — Mitt Romney coasted to victory in the Arizona primary Tuesday night and vied with rival Rick Santorum for supremacy in Michigan in a Republican presidential race as unsettled as the day it began.
Romney also scored a hard-won, home state triumph in Michigan and powered to victory in Arizona Tuesday night, gaining a two-state primary sweep over Rick Santorum and precious momentum in the most turbulent Republican presidential race in a generation.
Two other candidates, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, made little effort in either state, pointing instead to next week’s 10-state collection of Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses.
Romney’s Arizona triumph came in a race that was scarcely contested, and he pocketed all of the 29 Republican National Convention delegates at stake.
Michigan was as different as could be – a hard-fought and expensive race in Romney’s home state that he could ill afford to lose and Santorum made every effort to win.
Returns from 22 percent of Michigan’s precincts showed Romney at 41 percent and Santorum at 38 percent. Paul was winning 11 percent of the vote to 7 percent for Gingrich.
In interviews as they left their polling places, Michigan voters expressed a notable lack of enthusiasm about their choices. Just 45 percent said they strongly favored the candidate they voted for, while 38 percent expressed reservations and 15 percent said they made the choice they did because they disliked the alternatives.
The lengthening GOP nomination struggle has coincided with a rise in Democratic President Barack Obama’s prospects for a new term. A survey released during the day showed consumer confidence at the highest level in a year, and other polls show an increase in Americans saying they believe the country is on the right track.
Below, Newt Gingrich hammered President Barack Obama’s energy policy during a campaign event in Georgia Tuesday night, as he struggled for votes in the Michigan and Arizona primaries:
Exit polling showed a plurality of Republican voters in both Michigan and Arizona saying the most important factor to them in the primaries was that a candidate be able to beat Obama in November. Romney won that group in Michigan, where it mattered most, and also prevailed among voters in the state who said experience was the quality that mattered most.
Santorum ran particularly well among voters who cited a desire for strong conservatism or strong moral character.
The polls surveyed both primary day and absentee or early voters. Interviews were conducted at 30 polling places in each state. Early results from Arizona’s poll included interviews with 1,617 voters, including 601 absentee or early voters interviewed by phone.
Michigan was as different as could be – a hard-fought and expensive battle in Romney’s home state that he could ill afford to lose and Santorum made every effort to win.
Returns from 71 percent of Michigan’s precincts showed Romney at 41 percent and Santorum at 37 percent. Paul was winning 12 percent of the vote to 7 percent for Gingrich.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 10:50pmI didn’t hear the Rick, Newt, or Ron complain when 53% of the people who voted in New Hampshire were not Republicans. It’s an open primary. If people don’t want to have people from other parties vote in their primaries, then have a closed primary. You can’t have it both ways.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 9:25pmGlenn Beck is delusional, campaigning for this John McCain style war monger. To top it off I see a Santorum advertisement at the top of the page which says paid for by Rick Santorum, but I’m sure Glenn gave him a freebee for the “big night”
Don’t believe the lie Santorum is either fiscally conservative or socially conservative, or any type of conservative for that matter.
- Signed a bill which provided funding to Planned Parenthood.
- Voted for “bridge to nowhere”
- Expanded Medicare
- Expanded Department of Education
- Is proud of his extensive earmark spending
- Craps on your civil liberties and the constitution every time he’s given a chance to do so.
- Voted for Patriot Act
- Supports SOPA, NDAA (Indefinite detention of American citizens without trial)
- Homeland Security
- Invade sovereign nations without declaring war or without having justifiable cause.
- Still wants us in Iraq
- Supports foreign aid to murderous regimes.
- Denies our foreign policy has anything to do with other nations not liking us, if you agree with him, please educate yourself.

How about you disprove a single thing I posted, you can’t, in fact I can back up everything I posted most of it in Rick Santorum’s own words. No need to discredit Glenn, he did that himself, anyone who isn’t sleeping knows this. I actually used to watch Glenn on Fox, and even subscribed to GBTV for a while (cancelled now), until it became apparent he had an agenda. I‘m still not sure what it is but it sure as hell doesn’t serve liberty or the constitution anymore. I.E. he supports Rick Santorum. No MSNBC crowd here, just someone who believes as many people as possible should know who they’re voting for, I don’t need to convince you of anything, just present you with the truth, you decide what you do with it.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 10:52pmGuido boy! I think it is you and all those Romney supporter that are delusional. To suggest that Rick Santorum, or any candidate for that fact, is unelectable is complete rubbish. You are simply regurgitating what pro-Romney/Obama Spinsters are throwing out there. Yes, of course, it involves Ann Coulter, Karl Rove and others who masquerade as “conservatives.” And while I’m not the biggest fan of Rick Santorum, I can’t fathom why anyone who really believes in conservatism would vote for Romney. I question people’s integrity for doing so, because this guy has completely no spine. A true Chameleon if I ever saw one. Not so sure he can bring anything to the table than we already have. More of the same lies and corruption in just a different Colorado. That’s all!

If theres no Obama to discredit every day, theres no need for Beck to keep fear mongering the entire world and there goes his 10 million dollar a year salary. Pretty obvious if you ask me.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 10:55pmHere is the quote from Lonesome Rhodes… i.e. Glenn Beck
“I don’t endorse candidates, I don’t get involved in politics, I don’t make donations to any politician. Rick Santorum is a friend of mine, but I choose my friends carefully and I would never tell you someone was a friend of mine if I didn’t have great respect for them. I will tell you this. People ask me all the time, ‘who is out there?’ I tell them the same thing, I don’t trust any of them, but if I had to trust the reins of power with one person that is currently in this field and, because I think the next president has got to be Abraham Lincoln, he has got to be somebody who knows exactly who he is, knows exactly where he stands and is willing to, in the end, turn those reins of power back over. The temptation and the pressure is going to be absolutely enormous. If there is one guy out there that is the next George Washington, the only guy that I could think of is RICK SANTORUM. I would ask that you would take a look at him.”

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 11:00pmListen friends PLEASE don’t give up on Glenn! I am a Ron Paul supporter and have been very upset and let down by some of the things Glenn has recently said, but I DO NOT question his loyalty or conviction in fighting for what he believes is the right thing to do. BELIEVE ME I have taken him to task on Glennbeck.com over comparing Ron Paul and his supporters to OWS and the french revolution, while at the same time comparing Santorum to Washington and the American revolution. That is such an insult! Saying that RP and his supporters are essentially godless, and communist revolutionaries! But I humbly respect his right to do so and respectfully DISAGREE! Its okay, I celebrate our diversity and feel good that I believe I have something right, that a man who I admire so much is just wrong on. I stand with what I believe to be the real choice for freedom and liberty. Party be damned, I vote principle. I will vote for Paul until I am forced to vote for Gary Johnson in the general, and I will still support Glenn NO MATTER how much he likes Santorum. If you saw todays show on GBTV then you know that Glenn is still bringing the truth about the forces at work to destroy America, and he still is exposing the truth. I may be irritated, upset, or even heart sick over what my hero Glenn says on certain days, but I will also stand by my other hero of the Republic RON PAUL, even when HE says something I don’t always agree with. Finally lift each other up, DON’T beat each other down. Thank

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 11:02pmYou are so right. I listen to Glenn Beck a few times a week. The minute he brings Santorum on his show, or starts talking him up and bashing Romney, I turn off the radio or GBTV. The more Santorum speaks, the more it sounds like a Glenn Beck address. Who is writing Santorum’s material? I doubt Glenn is, but maybe Pat? Santorum should stand on his own record, with his own words, and with his own ideas. We already have a puppet president.
I like Glenn Beck. I really don’t agree with him about Santorum. I mean I REALLY do not agree with him about Santorum.
I also wish that people would make the connection between Beck’s “mistrust” of Romney. I believe it has ties to his relationship with Hunstman Sr., and the fued between the Huntsman‘s and the Romney’s starting with the Olympics job being given to Romney instead of Huntsman Jr. This is when the Huntsman family betrayal began, and it continued in through to the 2008 election cycle. Glenn may not trust Romney, but I believe that Romney doesn’t trust Glenn Beck. That is why he doesn‘t go on Glenn’s show. Glenn may have developed opinions about Romney based upon that family fued.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 11:09pmWHy shouldn’t we give up on Glenn again? Every day that passes only brings: us four new stories (On average) about how Santorum is the second coming of Jesus or how he was unfairly targeted by some sort of attack, a new story or rant about how Ron Paul is secretly the devil because he won’t agree to nuke Iran his first day in office, and a full 6 hours of media about how we need to just vote the most electable man into the race because ‘THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS GETTING OBAMA OUT YEAHHHH”. Which is the complete antithesis of everything Beck was before his Fox departure.
What the hell happened Beck. You took a complete 180 on pretty much everything since you came back from Israel. You aren’t the hero we all thought you were anymore. I don’t know if you just got caught up in the moment or your true face is showing. But what ever it is I just can’t support you any more. Not until you go back to what you once were, A LIBERTARIAN.

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 3:03amGiven all the vitriol spewed against Glenn here, I want to make clear that I greatly admire and appreciate Glenn for his courage and patriotism. Glenn speaks the truth despite the constant threats against him and his family. You have to be a real man to keep on speaking the truth despite ever-present threats against your loved ones.
I brought up Glenn’s remark about Santorum — who by the way IS his friend — because it bothered me when I heard it the first time, and every time Glenn has said it since. I considered Santorum the lesser of two evils but he never inspired me, and to be honest, I think Glenn’s friendship got in the way of his better judgment. My beef is with Santorum, NOT Glenn. I don’t always agree with what Glenn says, but that’s OK because Glenn never wanted to be a cult leader.
VEGASDAD, I wish all Ron Paul supporters were like you, so I and many others here could respect them, even though we strongly disagree with Paul. I can assure you that every vicious criticism of Glenn on this thread comes from a Paulist. I regret that I gave them further reason to trash Glenn. Why not bailout the American people? Like Obama did with the car manufacturers. Saved about 2 million jobs of middle class workers. how many jobs did the bank bailout save? As much as i want to see Obama gone, I think it will hurt the nation more to get a weak republican. If a weak republican wins, he will do his firt two years with a democrate senate, and get little done. After his first two years in office, he will then have to compete with a democrat controlled congress and senate, and it will business as usual, passing new and bigger taxes, increasing the fed gov, taking away our constitutional rights, and sending our jobs overseas.
At least with Obama in office, you can blame the big gov stuff ,and the other junk (like homos in the military) on the dems.

Fan boys are we? They both have crap on their faces, the question is which one is likely to turn the country around, able to appease the “support groups” and do the least damage possible and at best START to heal some of these wounds that have been branded on within the last 50 years.
Sadly, I have no faith in any of them, I dont see ONE of them doing anything conservative and even if a conservative thing happened, it would be piggy backs with liberal agenda all throughout it.
It’s very discouraging but I pray for the best, and vote the same way. I just dont see how this nation is going to survive with soon to be 30-40% of them sucking it dry while sitting and home with their hands out demanding more….
Also:
other polls show an increase in Americans saying they believe the country is on the right track.
Which polls? What were the parameters/restrictions of the poll? Too vague…
I took 50 polls today and at an amazing 100% The poll is for nothing but true conservative views for the U.S. from now on….

Liberals, Paulists, sleazebag Carl Cameron and O’Reilly scream, “If Romney loses Michigan, he’s finished,” and every conservative pundit out there promptly goes out and echoes the liberal cr@p to the four winds. Sheesh!
Just WHY is Romney finished if he loses Michigan? So he was born there. Big deal. Libs want Santorum to win because they know he can’t beat Obama. Independents will not vote for Santorum. The guy is sorely tactless, and prone to hyperbole when commenting on his social and religious views. He has already made enough gaffes to last SNL until Nov., if he becomes the nominee.

Great article. I’ve had that in the back of my mind throughout this primary season but there are so many other issues with Santorum, Romney, and Gingrich, that their personal ambition has taken a back seat. Even the Boston Globe stated that the day the health care bill was signed it was a “cold day in hell” that those two men were in the same room together, agreeing on the same bill. Romney is no friend of Kennedy, used him to get a bill passed, but remember that he constantly voted against Kennedy.
Then there is the story he started with FROM ‘Rebel Pundit’, that Romney’s backers pushed for an opened caucus. There was almost an unanimous vote on having a primary, instead of a convention like NY-23, or a Caucus where anyone could vote.

So we should just ignore their long public history of calling themselves conservative while they vote like progressives? I’m not going to bother posting links to their voting records. It’s been done dozens and dozens of times on The Blaze and still, despite proof in black and white, you and others like you ignore the proof and believe the lies. Romney and Santorum (and Gingrich, while I’m at it) ARE NOT CONSERVATIVES! Remember, actions speak louder than words. Judge them by their actions, not their campaign promises.
If all of you GOP partisans would just admit “I’m okay with big government statism“ or ”I like the way our government is doing things”, you would have more credibility. But when you say “I’m a conservative and I want smaller government and adherence to the Constitution”, but then you support candidates who grow the government and trash the Constitution, your credibility suffers.
I don’t mean to single you out and rail on you specifically. You‘ve admitted you’re young, and I have to admit that when I was your age I had a similar attitude to yours, and maybe you meant no disrespect to ProgressiveSlayer, but your post seemed to be a bit disrespectful and in addition to being your elder, ProgressiveSlayer is among the wisest, most honest, and most civil posters on The Blaze.

I find that a lot of people that call themselves christian do not follow the teachings they espouse. You people need to go back to bible school.

Report Post »Well at least you admit that you “fall in line with what everyone else says”. I hope you don’t think that that is a good way to educate yourself. When you call someone “naive” you are saying that you know more about the topic than they do and so if you profess to know more about foreign policy than Ron Paul does, please tell me where you get your information. Is it “what everyone else says”, or do you, at 25 years old have some first hand experience that contradicts the same foreign policy espoused by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and is based on The Constitution and the Christian Just War Doctrine. As far as knowledge of the Middle East, Ron Paul has been there personally (have you?) and also has personal access to sources like Micheal Scheuer (look him up), and Col. Douglas Macgregor (ret.) who happen to agree with Dr. Pauls policy regarding the Middle East. Please research these men and tell me if they are also “naive”.

Report Post »I do agree Ron Paul says all the right things about the economy and would love for his agenda to come to light but its not realistic it wont happen without revolution. You need congressional support and not one of Ron Pauls bills have ever been passed with exeption to partial audit of the fed. Your comments about Santorum and Romney not being conservative is also wrong Santorum had a bad voting record I will agree on that went along with bush and Romney was gov of Mass with a lib legislator so I am pretty sure that could make him look not as conservative. They are both wildly way better then Obama and the devisiveness in the party mainly from Ron Paul people are going to destroy this country by allowing Obama to win again.

Report Post »Glad you brought up my age to say that I cant possibly have a mind of my own at my age I am conservative and think logically not typical for my age. Now I am not saying I support current policy of going to war and staying there forever I am in between Ron Paul and Bush I believe we should take out all potential threats to our nation but we should fight with the full force and fight to win and then leave. Ron Paul suggests there is no threat from Iran and that is not correct he is not the only person who has been to the middle east others who have gone have totally opposite oppinions of him. And I dont have to go there to get my opinion I am sure you havent either unless your in the Military. To allow Iran to get a nuclear missle and put Israel in a postion to fight on there own is not the American way and will not protect us knowing that Iran hates us and wants us destroyed.

Report Post »I meant my response more general to everyone who says the people we have are progressives to get over themselves because they are not even close to Obama they are conservative maybe not as conservative as myself or your or others but they are a dramatic difference to Obama and to say they are the same is so incorrect it doesnt make any sense. I dont care if you are older then me doesnt mean you make logical sense. They support tax cuts and cutting the government. They may not be abolishing every agency like Ron paul which I wish they would but its not possible without us the people we need a president to allow us the people to do all the work abolishing everything that is wrong. Obama will not let that happen thats why we need to unite behind someone who can beat Obama.

In all due respect, Iran is not a threat to the US and/or Israel. I am going to attempt to explain this, so bear with me. I find Neo Conservatives somewhat like people that support affirmative action. They, the neocons, attempt to undermined Israel’s military, just like the left do with affirmative action policies (with minorities). I find this to be rather disrespectful in both Israel and minorities because they act as if they need some kind of hand out — as if they are beneath the U.S.A, or as affirmative action goes — the Caucasian race. Believe me when I say this. Many minorities find affirmative action to be BS as Israel thinks the same as though the world views them as the redheaded step child of America.
Support Ron Paul because he is a true classical liberal (aka little r republican). He is a true supporter of liberty and believe that Israel is a sovereign nation that is capable of dealing with their threats better than the US. We, the US and the UN are nothing more than a “thorn in the side” of Israel.

I can’t possibly enlighten you. You should try to enlighten yourself. I’ll try to help get you started by telling you that Ron Paul knows that Iran is no threat to us despite what the war propagandists in the government tell you. Iran knows that an attack on America (or Israel for that matter) would be virtual suicide for Iran. There is no credible information that Iran is close to having a nuclear weapon. Propagandists have been saying that Iran is just weeks away from having nukes since the eighties (look it up). I assume you believe that Iran has threatened to “wipe Isreal off the map” as so many propagandists tell you. Here is the truth to that rumor. It was never said (probably because Iran knows that they couldn’t possibly do it).
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article16218.htm
By the way, do you know which countries Iran has attacked, invaded, or occupied in modern history? Here’s a hint… none.
I’m no fan of Iran or their leaders, but I realize that the real threat to America is not Iran, but our own government.
I’ll bet you are critical of the government and very suspicious of what the government and the media tell you about domestic spending, taxes, corruption, lobbyists, etc. but you buy hook, line, and sinker what they tell you about our “enemies”. If the government would lie to you about domestic policy, why don’t you think they would lie to you about foreign policy?

Report Post »You are absolutely wrong we have a border with Mexico and the drug cartels are in bed with Hezbolla who is financed by Iran. Hugo Chavez also allied with Iran. Can Iran beat us Militarily no not at all but can they strike us hard with 1 or 2 or 3 hits yes and if they get a nuclear bomb which you seen not to be paying attention because Israel is ready to strike today but we are holding them back. We need to let them take them out and we need to assist them. It is not war mongering it is protecting our future. If they set off one large bomb or infultrate through mexico and set off multiple terrorist attacks you dont think thats a threat. Nobody can defeat us militarily but to say we cant be attacked by Iran who wants to wipe Israel off the map but knowing they arent even there biggest enemy we are. You and Ron Paul are very naive to think if you did nothing everything will be okay there is real evil in the world and Ron Paul and yourself claiming there is no threat cannot see it.
