We’ve had the live feed up on our blog for a couple days now. It is a true internet sensation. Huge numbers have watched all week to see when the baby eagles would be born. The first hatched on Saturday afternoon — one outdoors blogger followed the action:
One adult eagle delivered the carcass of a rabbit and the other adult on the nest rose up and revealed the first of three eaglettes to hatch as a web cam captures the activity live.
I believe I got to see the wobbling little white fluff ball get its first meal. The parent went right for the nutritious entrals.
The next feeding occurred about 50 minutes later. Then the web cam zoomed in to show how the eaglette new it was time to wedge between the two unhatched eggs as the adult oh-so-carefully snuggled down on the eaglette and eggs for another rest. Very cool.

Will number two and number three be far behind? Here’s the live feed:

Posted on April 2, 2011 at 9:32pmI love when you watch Deadliest Catch and all those bald eagles are flying around like pigeons fly around the cities of America. :( Even they know where the best place is to live in this country is now…as far away from US mainland ghetto ized urban sprawl as you can get, Dutch Harbor Alaska. lol

Posted on April 3, 2011 at 4:37pmMy guess is it is another govt project, costing us approx. $700,000, to see if Mama Eagle has to sit on the nest longer than Daddy Eagle, in which case, Mama Eagle will get a monthly check and free rats for dinner. And they’ll make a TV show about a stupid Daddy Eagle and his smart-mouth wifey Eagle. That’ll cost more, of course.

Did you know it is illegal to take an eagle feather if you find one on the ground? But Native Americans can for their religious belief uses.

Posted on April 2, 2011 at 8:36pmbaby eagles are called eaglets I use to watch one in MA but the tree blew over a few seasons ago and they have not had funds to put cam back up. It’s really neat to watch them eat , grow and finally fledge the nest (fly away from next for first time) . After fledging they will still hang around the nest with parents and eat etc then finally they just leave. Eagles mate for life and mate around 30k with their talons hooked together as they spiral to the earth ie a death spiral. A few eagle facts for you. I love them

Posted on April 2, 2011 at 8:22pm@Firefight: Things in our Country are completely bassackwards. Place such little value on a baby, and let them get stabbed in the neck while being born. I bet that mommy eagle shows more love to her little babies than most women do toward their own child in their bodies. The women of this country have been brain-washed. We care more about the homeless, etc, than we do a baby. Horrors!

Former Jackson resident here– HI! … we have Eagles all over my area of FL .. we were out in the convertible yesterday and one was dive bombng the road traffic trying to get “something” that had been hit and was in the road (that one had me a “little” worried .. my chihuahua was in her car seat next to me) .. I have even seen them with the vultures “checking out” peoples recycling in bins. Did you know that Eagles nest on the Kennedy Space Center property? — if you get a good tour guide he will point out the nests as you go out by the launch pads. (before of course Obama destroyed the Shuttle program — I guess maybe it will all go to the wildlife)

I hope you’re right. I just remember watching a National Geographic show that showed two eaglets in a nest and it showed the bigger, older one pecking the smaller, younger one to death and not letting it eat. The show said it always happens that way. It was pretty depressing, but that’s nature for you.
Report Post »AzDebi
Posted on April 3, 2011 at 4:12pmNow there were TWO babies..amazing…I noticed that the older of the two hatchlings pecked pretty hard at the second born…I read that the oldest (of course now bigger) may kill the next born and that this is not uncommon and that this happens particularly if the oldest is a female…interesting…and…the parents will not intervene to stop it…

Well you have to realize that in today’s society, human babies are a nuisance to be snuffed out at will. Sad, very, very sad, but one day my Lord will sort it all out and woe to those that put animal life over human life.
