Local TV Anchor Informs Her Audience That NBA Playoff Game Ends in a Tie (It Didn’t)

Before we get started, let me just quote the old saying: “He today, I tomorrow.” Or rather, in this case, she Sunday.

What you’re about to see is a news anchor from a local station WMTW-TV in Portland, Maine. During a newscast from Sunday, she reports that the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat playoff game has ended in astonishing fashion: a tie. As far as our research shows, such a thing is not allowed in the official NBA rules. But Meghan Torjussen didn’t seem to know that:

Now Torjussen does mention her producer is the one who whispered the outcome in her ear, but we don’t know if the producer was also confused about how a game — especially a playoff game — ends.

“Meghan‘s recap of the Eastern Conference Finals’ Game Four was quick, concise, and inaccurate; the game went to overtime just as her report began, and she informed viewers it ended in a tie,” Deadspin writes. “We‘re going to point some of the blame at the show’s producer, who is supposed to be responsible for everything that appears on-air. That producer’s name? Donovan McNabb.”

The reference to McNabb is probably one of the most popular overtime flubs in modern time. Back in 2008, after an Eagles game ended in a tie, he said during the post-game press conference that he didn’t know such a thing could happen:

By the way, the Celtics went on to win the game on Sunday in overtime, which does exist in the NBA.

Why is it that networks continue to have pretty but stupid women commenting on sports. This person while good looking sounded like a complete idiot. Memo to the TV networks. We men want news reporting not fluff and certainly not goofball mistakes. If you‘re going to hire good lokking women to commentate make sure they know what the heck they’re talking about. This goes especially for you doofuses over at ESPN.

What’s the point of this story? That no matter how bad theblaze is there are worse news sources?

Maybe so in individual instances, but theblaze still at the bottom for overall unreliability.

It seems like The Blaze is good enough that you come here, read, create an account, and comment.

So MaryBethElizabeth, clearly you are no rocket scientist. You state The Blaze is at the “bottom for overall unreliability.“ Clearly it is at the bottom for ”unreliability” because it is so incredibly RELIABLE. Thank you for listing The Blaze as being too reliable for a bonehead like you.
Crawl back under your rock and tune into msnbc with the rest of the swamp ceatures.

It is the NBA……was anyone under 60 or over 15 watching? What a boring overhyped league. Catch the finals of the NHL for real sports action. Cue the uninformed fighting lines in 3…2…..1……

Clearly, her qualifications consist of being cute. Which is why she got the job over dozens of guys who were actually knowledgeable about sports. In TV, it’s eye candy over substance.

Just remember this the next time you see some hot sports anchor on ESPN or on your local news. Most of them were hired for their looks and not for any particular knowledge of the subject matter.

How is it that the sports reporter does not know that this is impossible. This is why women make less than men doing the same job!

She went on to say what a great job President Obama is doing, with the same diligent research to back up her reporting.

Remember, she represents the America that ensures a Democratic Party, the female half. This is what feminism, tokenism, TITLE 9 and the 19th Amendment gets you.
