Looming Soros Conference Will Focus on Rearranging Global ‘Financial Order’

On April 8, dozens of “academic, business and government policy thought leaders” are scheduled to gather for a forum reminiscent of the 1944 Bretton Woods gathering that helped launch the World Bank and International Monetary Fund following World War II.

The George Soros-founded Institute for New Economic Thinking will hold its annual conference April 8-11, 2011 at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, N.H.  According to the group’s website, the event will bring together economic figures such as Soros, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker to discuss a new, globalized vision of economics in the post-war world.

“Crisis and trauma offer us a rare opportunity to work together to create real lasting change.  This is one of those times,” INET says.  Promoting “real” justice and equity requires “reinventing” the prevailing economic model — capitalism:

The Institute recognizes problems and inadequacies within our current economic system and the modes of thought used to comprehend recent and past catastrophic developments in the world economy. The Institute embraces the professional responsibility to think beyond these inadequate methods and models and will support the emergence of new paradigms in the understanding of economic processes.

The Institute firmly believes in empowering the next generation, providing the proper guidance as we challenge outdated approaches with innovative and ethical economic strategy. The Institute’s objective is to expand the conversation to create an open discussion for a wider range of people. Some would say that present day dialogue is closed and polarizing. We recognize the need for an environment that is nourished and supported by discourse, a discussion that spans a much wider spectrum of thinking and incorporates the insights of other intellectual disciplines in both the natural and social sciences.

“In the years since the 1944 conference, the globalization of production, trade, and especially finance, has transformed our economy, but has not yet transformed our system of regulation or our tools of policy intervention,” the group’s website says. “Indeed, our very habits of thought and speech lag behind the realities that we desperately need to think and speak about.”

More than two-thirds of the scheduled event speakers have direct ties to Soros, notes Media Research Center’s Dan Gainor.

While INET claims more than 200 will attend, only 79 speakers are listed on its site – and it already looks like a Soros convention. Twenty-two are on Soros-funded INET’s board and three more are INET grantees. Nineteen are listed as contributors for another Soros operation – Project Syndicate, which calls itself “the world’s pre-eminent source of original op-ed commentaries“ reaching ”456 leading newspapers in 150 countries.” It‘s financed by Soros’s Open Society Institute.

“We need a global sheriff,” Soros has explained in the past, and the upcoming conference, “Crisis and Renewal: International Political Economy at the Crossroads” may provide a forum for discussion of a new global financial order.

In the 2000 version of his book “Open Society: Reforming Global Capitalism,“ Soros wrote how the Bretton Woods institutions ”failed spectacularly” during the economic crisis of the late 1990s. When he called for a new Bretton Woods in 2009, he wanted it to “reconstitute the International Monetary Fund,” and while he’s at it, restructure the United Nations, too, boosting China and other countries at our expense.

“Reorganizing the world order will need to extend beyond the financial system and involve the United Nations, especially membership of the Security Council,’ he wrote. ‘That process needs to be initiated by the US, but China and other developing countries ought to participate as equals.”

Soros emphasized that point, that this needs to be a global solution, making America one among many. “The rising powers must be present at the creation of this new system in order to ensure that they will be active supporters.”

And that’s exactly the kind of event INET is delivering, with the event website emphasizing “today’s reconstruction must engage the larger European Union, as well as the emerging economies of Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Asia.” China figures prominently, including a senior economist for the World Bank in Beijing, the director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the chief adviser for the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations.

This all may be easy to do with the power, influence and reach of George Soros who funds more than 1,200 different organizations around the globe, Gainor adds.

So how might the United States fit into this idea of a new international cooperative between the developed and developing world?

It doesn’t, Gainor concludes. The INET conference is about “changing the global economy and the United States to make them ‘acceptable’ to George Soros.”

    that have been hanging over his head for at least a decade – being delayed as the usual tactics of guilty fraudsters.

Man cannot understand everything G-d does. He lets the bad guys succeed for awhile and then they’re history. Many of the punishments we receive are to wake us up and make us realize we need to repent for our sins. the imorality in the world is getting worse and worse. I cannot get you to understand this in a few sentences. It took me 14 years of studying to get to where I am. no man can understand G-d. Our intelligence compared to his is like the intelligence of an infant compared to ours.

      Write him and offer the evidence. Michael Savage gets a little peevy sometimes, but I enjoy his banter. We are fortunate to have multiple perspectives on the issues on our side of the ledger–it seems to me that the progressive-liberal agenda is just too well organized, too plastic, too Barbie-Doll! Keep it civil, so Michael will read it. I’ve heard him apologize when he misunderstands or get things wrong. It must be lonely out there in San Francisco! Rush just couldn’t take it anymore and left New York (probably more tax and quality of life driven). Glenn, bless his soul, likes to keep his ear against the boiler, so he can hear what is going on and feel the throb of discontent before it becomes a drum roll!

      I would say it will be a committee of the men who are attending this meeting. Soros already has experience and knows how Hitler did it, since he was an insider at the time. This is terrifying. I think Obama has involved the UN in the Middle East, so that when our time comes, he can use foreign troops against the American people to quell any dissent.

      Is there any reason why we can’t fix the old one (prevailing economic model)? It seemed to work just fine all these years. I remember vividly hearing somewhere you can‘t spend what you don’t have. How in obummer do it? I mean, besides printing more money…..

In Marxism, the ladder between the bottom and the top is removed. It is only through a free market system one can be born at the bottom and end up at the top. This is the very thing these intellects despise. We ca’t have one who is un-learned of the proper ways gaining access to a class the are unworthy to have. For the capitalist gained his place through greed and force, not hard work and dedication. Unlike them, who can act however they wish because they are the ones who determine what acceptable or not.       About a year ago Soros‘ 2nd in command met with Beck’s 2nd in command. Soros’ man made it abundantly clear that everyone else of any importance was on board with his “One World Order” trajectory. When Beck‘s man said that Beck wasn’t interested in joining, Soros‘ guy told him that it’s too late — the ship has already left the harbor.

      We can now see the overwhelming evidence of international collusion in bringing down governments so as to make a One World Order seem the most logical answer to this chaos. Aside from Brown and Soros and Volker, look for Clinton, Vincente Fox and Bush to be there.

      Soros is an enemy of the state yet no one in DC will take action.
      1 Soros is a US citizen.
      2 Soros is on record expressing an interest, desire call it what you will on the devaluing/ decline of the US dollar.
      3 Soros has been instrumental in the demise of 4 currencies/ regimes to make a profit. He has made millions even billions from betting against currencies like the British Sterling (where he is was quoted saying he made approx $1 billion).

      George Soros is intentionally attempting to collapse the financial industry more specific through the devaluation of the US dollar. He is in fact undermining the government and/ or the national security/ sovereignty of the United States that is an act by definition of TREASON. (Treason is the violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or state, giving aid to enemies, or levying war against one’s state.)

      Under Article 3 Section 3 of the US Constitution it reads:
      “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
      The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.”

      No we do not have an act of war by Mr. Soros but an act to undermine the US government through the financial system; an attack, and that it what it is, on our currency and economy. Wikipedia reports on treason “However, Congress has, at times, passed statutes creating related offenses that undermine the government or the national security,” it goes on to list examples of sedition and espionage.

      Sedition and espionage are not included in Art. 3 Sec. 3 of the Constitution but Congress had the power to try people for those acts under the Article of Treason and some have been found guilty. Wikipedia explains “The Constitution does not itself create the offense; it only restricts the definition (the first paragraph), permits Congress to create the offense, and restricts any punishment for treason to only the convicted (the second paragraph). The crime is prohibited by legislation passed by Congress.”

      This situation with Mr. Soros cannot just be left idle and shrugged off. Congress has the power to stop this man. In this modern age the battlefield has changed, one no longer needs to wage war against a country with guns and bombs; they can do it through manipulating its financial system. That is what this man is doing to make a profit and get the US out of the way “The main obstacle to a stable & just world order is the United States“(Soros: The Age of Fallibility). Thankfully our Founding Fathers thought ahead and left the door open for this charge of treason to not be limited to just war. The Constitution allows our Representatives to define the offense and they have the power to indict this man for treason!

      @Darmok: I think the rearranging mostly includes moving our stuff into their place.
      –Our money, sadly, is currently based on derivative finance. That is, contrary to sensible math, when a loan is generated, capital is generated, which may be further borrowed against (and gamed). These boneheads want more game, more control, more say–Even an elite “savior” status for their plans to further amass control.
      –Why do they seek to redefine the hidden financial realities, in this fashion, at this time? Why don’t they simply allow their former operations continue to fruition? I think, they have reached their fullness. That they find themselves still dependent on the US. That, THAT is what they want changed. Dangerous…
      –The sunny side: If we still have such import, then we have the power to not only fix ourselves, but to assist (by education and example) the rest of the world’s economies. But that window of opportunity is closing.
