Loose Lips: Gates Says Info Leaks Has SEAL Team 6 Fearing for Its Safety

In the aftermath of the Osama bin Laden raid, the White House couldn’t get its story straight. Facts were either wrong, or few and far between. But now, a concerning admission by Defense Secretary Robert Gates shows one thing was flowing: information leaks. In fact, there have been so many leaks that the SEAL team that carried out the raid now fears for its safety.

“We are very concerned about the security of our families – of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details … I would tell you that when I met with the team last Thursday, they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families,” Gates told an audience of Marines at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Then he dropped this bombshell: “Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.”

Later, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Geoff Morrell confirmed Gates’s concerns to CNN: “He was indeed voicing his concern about the breakdown in operational security after the killing of Bin Laden. Anonymous sources revealing secret information about the tactics, training, and equipment of covert forces put at risk our ability to successfully mount similar missions in the future.”

Because of the loose lips, Gates said the DOD is looking into ways to “pump up the security” for the elite team.

    the president is cavalier with his power and with the lives of Americans

    he couldnt give the heads up to Osama Bin Ladens protectors / Obama’s supporters in the middle east, so in his vengeance he leaks all the information he can after the fact

    the leaks are for the wrath of his middle-eastern / black panther brotherhood who thought their man in the white house’s presidential seat would have given them all the leaks they needed to protect Osama Bin Laden

    but the military elite know he’s a rat leaker, and so kept him in the dark about the mission to ensure its success

    Here we go again. If a crisis is a bad thing to waste, it’s more fun to manufacture one.

    No one knows who might be part of Six; those guys don’t go off bragging about it. Most SEALs won‘t even mention they’re SEALs except to family. In public, in Class One dress, the only way you’ll know a man is SEAL is by the Trident badge above his fruit salad.

    Officially, the US government has never admitted Six even exists. It’s the best-kept non-secret there is except for Israeli nuclear weapons. Like with the British SAS, any member of Six caught talking to a reporter is out of the Team. Maybe out of the SEALs altogether.

    This is bullcookies. Obow is trying to brag while trying not to brag at the same time. If this phony Administration wants security so bad, all they have to do is shut up.

    But that won‘t fit Obow’s over-inflated ego, will it?

    I think we overuse the terms “WORRY” and “FEAR” Concerned maybe or cautious. But WORRY is a wasted emotion. And a seal team member FEARs nada. Run away! Hide! i wrote the word CONCERNED before I read the story. Those termsI’ll bet are NOT those voiced by the Team. The Blaze once again blows it.

      I agree with your observation…as soon as it was released by the government that Team 6 was credited with the takedown. In order to get some additional political credit for the mission, our defacto president put a nice big target on the foreheads of each Team member and their families….

      Remember what the Iranians tried to do to the wife of Will Rogers III (who was captain of the missile frigate that shot down the Iranian airliner years ago by mistake)…The Iranian hit squads were out to kill him and his family! Ridding the world of OBL will bring on more revenge killings……This is what happens when you wack a *******!

      The SEALS are not afraid, or they would have never gotten on the team. Of course they worry about their families. When the SEALS are out protecting us, who is watching the families? But, just look at that picture of BHO and his top advisors in the Situation Room, and realize that one or more of these people sold our SEALS out.

      No kidding, even the UN human rights leader was demanding information on the UBL raid to see if there were any breaking of international laws on assassination; if it becomes expedient for one or more nations outside the US, they may try to have the SEAL members brought to trial for war crimes or some such event.

      SEAL teams are always “in danger,” they are used to being the most respected, feared and hated military force and they do not worry about posers who might “threaten them.” While they do not like the public knowing who they are, the locals don’t point them out to reporters either.       I cannot believe that the SEALs fell for the “lets meet with the president after the raid” cr%$ap. It is unconsionable that their commander would submit to the Obama ruse. He (their commander) should be shot. THe only reason that Obama wanted to meet with them is so he could have his picture taken with them, so he could OUT THEM. Make no mistake , their pictures and personal info have been posted all over the world by now.

      The admin is the one leaking the info with BHO and his victory tour and ppl in the admin like Panetta with their constant blabbing about how the op was run and who did it. Ollie North was on Hannity and said they need to keep their big mouths shut. Anything happens to any family members of DEVGRU operators this admin is going to have problems they cannot even imagine!

      Said it before I will say it again BHO is extremely dangerous to this Republic be it the economy, foreign policy, treatment of military and police, his treatment towards anyone who disagrees with him etc! I also said last week after the raid they were painting the military in a bad light, throwing them under the bus, should this whole thing go truly sour PR wise internationally.

      That‘s not what I’m hearing. Agreed that Seals live with danger, but they don’t flaunt their accomplishments to those who are not in the loop, and when a person at the top of the equation cannot control his ego, it places these men in more danger. IRambama cannot control himself; he is feeding off the ‘glory’. I hope the Seals do not pay the ultimate price of that. Someone in his administration should tell him “Enough, already!” But they’re not going to upset their own applecarts. I expect that if Rambama does not reveal the identities of the Seals, Wikileaks will.

This is exactly the same reason that the Obama administration can’t keep a secret. This is exactly why those who must go through normal channels to get a clearance are checked for self esteem issues and pinko sympathizing. Obama did not have to go through channels to get his clearance, and that has been a huge mistake. His administration is truly the most transparent – IF you mean about sensitive information that protects America from harm. Are you actually part of that, because you have done a “good” job.       American Family Radio reported earlier this year that Obama had turned over an undercover terrorist infiltrator. The infiltrator was an Israeli operative who was gathering intelligence, on terrorist activities. Obama claimed that posing as a terrorist made him able to be charged as a terrorist, so he turned the Israeli operative over to Iranian anti-terrorist authorities. He turned over a spy who would have shared information with us to the enemy. This is traitorous behavior, we should expect nothing else from him. The idea of him leaking sensitive information should be a forgone conclusion, by now.
