NEW YORK (AP) — Four New York Times journalists who were reported missing while covering the Libya conflict have been found, the newspaper said Friday.
The Times reported on its website that the four were captured by forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi and will be released Friday.
The Times said his son, Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, gave the information to Christiane Amanpour in an ABC News interview.
Libyan government officials told the United States State Department on Thursday evening that all four would be released.
They had last been in contact with editors on Tuesday from the northern port city of Ajdabiya where they were covering the retreat of rebels.
The journalists are Anthony Shadid, The Times’s Beirut bureau chief and a two-time Pulitzer-prize winning foreign correspondent; two photographers, Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario, who have extensive experience in war zones; and a reporter and videographer, Stephen Farrell, who in 2009 was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan and was rescued by British commandos.

Posted on March 18, 2011 at 10:27pmThey may be Americans, but I no longer feel they are my countrymen if they work for that socialist propaganda ministry. The NYT has committed real, quantifiable, treason and should face real, quantifiable, consequences.
If we ever finally rise up and take this country back, we must leave a very clear message to those would betray us. Harsh examples are not soon forgotten.
And we MUST act together as one. Numbers and timing are everything. Sporadic individual actions will be stopped quickly. Great numbers will not.
We must rise up while we still live! The memory of Liberty may die with us. Let it be on the battlefield, not in some overcrowded emergency room.

Posted on March 18, 2011 at 1:44pmExactly. They are there to discredit the United States, or at least the country, if not Obama. I hope he keeps them, they would probably be more at home there.

Posted on March 18, 2011 at 1:10pmLibya wins another victory over free enterprise, capitalism and democracy! They thinned out a few dissenters while the heads of England, France and Uniter States “made the usual threats” but once again, they picked their NCAA tournament champs and were at a loss as to what to do – what a way to fight a war! So congratulations Gaddafi, return to your throne! You pulled off the Lockerbie bombing, survived Reagan tent targeted bomb and now you’ll be free to conduct trade with the United States of America. Alhamdulillah!

Posted on March 18, 2011 at 11:44amGadhafi will do only enough to placate the international community so as to soften the opposition to his murderous assertion of power over Libya. I don’t believe for a minute that he intends to stop killing the citizens of his country. This does not seem to matter to Russia and China, who fairly say that Bahrain should receive the same treatment as Libya.
Report Post »All of the escalation in unrest across the Middle East could have been handled so much better had it not been for the tepid tinkering of our illustrious “leader”.
One thing that will definitely add to boldness of the dictators in the Middle East is the press in Europe who have decided now is the time to emphasize how weak Obama is as a leader. It’s unfortunate that the media in Europe were so eager to support Obama before his election without investigating him first.

Posted on March 18, 2011 at 11:20amI was watching the interview of Quakdafi on Nightline last night. He should have asked what would US do if the Tea Party tried to rise up against the US Government. No way am I justifying his position but what would our Government do if this uprising occurred from any group within the US saying it was for freedom and democratic principals? I think it would act much like what we are seeing in Libya and other places. They are prepared for it and have been preparing for it for a few years now. We are no different then these people, when push comes to shove our Government will act against its citizens declaring that they have the law on their side. When are people going to wake up? This is not your grandfathers USA any longer. Beck is right to point out the lies of this US Government and how it is being twisted from the inside out by radicals who are the enemies of the US constitution and our founding principals of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
