Lots of Unions Are on the ‘Hidden’ List to Receive ObamaCare Waivers

If ObamaCare is such a good idea, then why are there 111 companies on the waiver list?

That’s the question in this Fox News segment:

GatewayPundit highights the segment’s central charge:

“The bottom line here is that they gave out waivers is an admission of guilt. Basically they’re saying, “You’re right. We screwed up.” That’s the bottom line here. They did not create a law that benefits all of us.”

Further, GatewayPundit’s analysis of the 111 names (full list here) turns up some familiar names — like SEIU and other unions:

The New York Times:

As Obama administration officials put into place some of the new rules that go into effect under the federal health care law, they are issuing more waivers to try to prevent some insurers and employers from dropping coverage and also promising to modify other rules because many of the existing policies would not meet new standards.

Last month, federal officials granted dozens of one-year waivers that were aimed at sparing certain employers, including McDonald’s, insurers and unions who offer plans that sharply limit the coverage they provide. These limited-benefit plans, also known as “minimeds,” fail to comply with new rules phasing out limits on how much policies will provide in medical care each year.

Concerned about the potential disruption that would be created by enforcing the new rules, the administration has granted dozens of additional waivers and also made clear that it would modify other rules affecting these policies. Last week, the Department of Health and Human Services issued more guidance, saying it would use a different method of calculating spending for these plans so they would be able to meet new regulations dictating how insurers should use the premium dollars they collect.

Meantime, Michelle Malkin notes that “Soros monkeys” are attacking “Republican repeal mongers” like crazy:

Even as the Obama administration concedes failure and continues to approve temporary repeals of the federal mandates to company after company after union after union.

Here’s the “repeal monger” attack:

Health Care for America Now executive director Ethan Rome says advocates must make it clear what repealing the law or its major provisions would really mean. “The law gets the insurance companies off the backs of the consumers,” he says. “The Republican repeal mongers want to give health care back to the insurance industry. That is what it boils down to.”

Malkins conclusion: Guess we are all “repeal mongers” now, eh?

    Was there any doubt as to the audacity of this administration. What tickles me is that some of the states are so stupid that they actually re-elected these idiots back. I think any company located in those states should be banned from getting waivers. Especially the UNIONS.

    Obamacare needs to go! This is riduculous. People better start listening to the American People who never wanted this piece of CRAP in the first place!

    I would like to see all these big wigs….waiting patiently to see a doctor for a simple check up with a one payer health care system. Wouldn’t happen, not even in Hell.

    Forget ripping up our constitution…we should rip up this crap and use it as toilet paper…only our “butts” would be insulted by that, even they have standards!

    As so many of us said during the debate about this law int he first place… Healthcare in this country needs to change, it needs to be transformed, it does NOT need what the Obama administration was pushing. They knew it then and they know it now. Repeal and replace!

Admit to the numerous times he has lied to us since he has been in office, admit that he has surrounded himself with the wrong people in his cabinet and hand the puck over to Biden who will then stumble through the honest truth like he always has, then after a month or two of that, he’ll step down and hand it over to Boehner.

    Remember, when the Health Care Bill passed it stated that Unions would be exempt for a certain number of years. The Administration gave unions the pass immediately. The President, the Congress, federal employees, and the unions are not included in this Horror called health care. Only We The People have to suffer and pay for this.

    I think we’re in for some EU style rioting in the streets if the GOP tries to repeal ObamaCare. It’s a set up like Glenn has said many times. Let’s hope that the newly elected GOP in Congress have the spine to do it.

      You may wonder if that is the unions and Progressives purpose afterall, the ‘event’ they need, as Beck has warned to watch for. These unions would more than willingly start trouble, especially if they are told the loss of Obama-care was somehow linked to the loss of pensions or such.

      Only the leaders of the unions need deceive the workers, and it may happen.

      Exactly, it shows this bill is about nothing more than control of all the health care period, except for those who have supported the president and now are getting purely political payback when everyone else is getting Obama-care shoved down our throat.

      Get rid of the Obama-care, and may it get overturned in the courts, and repealed by the new senate before it goes into effect.

      The real damage will be when those 1 year waivers all expire, 12-14 months before the next Presidential election.

      The administration will either have to modify Obamacare, extend the waivers again, or let the 111 (and growing) waivers all expire, with those companies dropping their “minimeds” and the employees have to endure 6 months without any coverage before they are eligible for any Obamacare benefits.

      well, Pelosi has said the Dems didn’t get credit for all they accomplished over the last two years, but many people are going to go out of thier way the next two to give them PLENTY of credit for passing the bill that no one bothered to read.

      I’d like to see all Federal employees given the same insurance plan options that the private sector has to choose from, and see how quickly this law gets repealed.

      this healthcare bill must be repealed. Look how hard it is for even reasonable people to not accept the fact that something must be done like retirement age needs to be higher for Social security medicare. We can’t even get tea party people to admit it. If this is implemented we have doomed 3 generations to expect the government to take care of us.

Now with govenment forced Medicare plus my supplemental, I’m paying more then I did before turning 65!
