Louisianans: Bush Did a Better Job Than Obama with Disaster

Louisianans: Bush Did a Better Job Than Obama with Disaster

According to Public Policy Polling in North Carolina, 61 percent of Louisianans disapprove of the way President Obama has handled the BP oil spill in the gulf, while 54 percent believe that George W. Bush did a better job of helping Louisiana deal with crisis (compared to 33 percent who said Obama did better).

The poll also shows that support for offshore drilling in Louisiana has actually increased, from 77 percent in June to 81 percent currently. Not surprisingly, the president’s deepwater offshore drilling moratorium remains unpopular in the state, where much of the economy is tied to the oil industry.

Responses do not seem to be driving by partisan politics. The poll found that 45 percent of respondents identified themselves as Republicans, while almost the same percent, 44, identified themselves as Democrats.

The poll comes as Obama is trying to convince the state that he is invested in the region. On Sunday, the president told a crowd at Xavier University in New Orleans that while progress has been made in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, his administration “is going to stand with you–and fight alongside you–until the job is done. Until New Orleans is all the way back, all the way.”

The trip to the gulf was Obama’s second in two weeks.

I’ve always said that history will be good to Bush. It’s already begun.

If you want to be honest, whatever went wrong in New Orleans during Katrina was mishandled by a Democrat State Party, the people who are suppose to be the first responders. President Bush handled his part in spite of what the Dems didn’t do. Obama handled the crisis in Louisiana like a real “hero”, he set up a panel to investigate nothing, and put thousands of people out of work. His agenda is suspicious to say the least. There is no comparison between the two men. One is a hero and it isn’t Obama.

That state and NOLA has been predominately run by corrupt democrats since Huey Long. I lived in NOLA many years ago, and the poor still do not have it any better than they did 40 years ago. I recently went back for a visit, and the corruption is as bad as it ever was. Also, having gone through at least one major hurricane, I can say it has always been up to the states and locals to determine their outcome in terms of rescue and redevelopment. Now we have a president who wants EVERYONE dependent on federal handouts. And the handouts from govco. are always slop! Obama wants the energy jobs related to the Gulf killed. I am glad to see that the truth is finally coming out.

How many golf courses are there in Lousiana? I‘m betting the only investment Obama has in the area is whether or not he can get in a game while he’s there.

Every photo I’ve seen of President Bush since he left office shows him wearing a warm and genuine smile of contentment. I know he believes what most of here believe: Democrats have overplayed their hand and not only have they reawakened the silent majority, but transformed them into a force to be reckoned with from now on. Their bag of dirty tricks has been reduced to it’s lowest political denominator, race baiting. Defining Tea Party members and those who disagree with President Obama as racists and Nazis will come back to haunt them for decades.

As the outgoing president was leaving office, he told the incoming president that there were three envelopes in the lower drawer of the desk in the Oval Office. “I prepared those three envelopes for you. When you get into trouble, remember those envelopes.”

After about six months the new president got into trouble with Congress. He remembered the envelopes, and opened the first one. It read: “Blame it on the previous administration.” So he did, and the problems went away.

A year later the new president faced a major crisis. He once again remembered the envelopes. He opened the second one. It read: “Blame it on the previous president.” He denounced his predecessor and blamed the current crisis on the previous president. Once again, his problems went away.

Then when we was running for his second term, the president once again found himself in trouble and wondered if he might be defeated at the polls. He remembered the envelopes. He opened the third envelope, and it read: “Prepare three envelopes.”

I’m so sick of Bush this Bush that. He‘s no longer in office and he’s not coming back. Stop using his term as President as an excuse and go to work!

It doesn‘t surprise me at all that the sentiments expressed in this poll aren’t being shared with the public. It’s good to see it here! And after the anniversary celebration of Katrina, by the media in an attempt to deflect from Bahama’s irresponsible handling of the BP disaster, I am ready to heat what the people have to say that are actually affected (and unscripted)

I wonder why we even paid attention to the Katrina aniversary. Seems to me the area hasn’t changed very much – still a mess. 5 years and still rebuilding? it’s a joke.

I wonder what Obama thinks about this poll? He’s going to have to be more careful about his criticisms of Bush in the future.

Yeah. Listen to the masses for an opinion.

The same people who supported joseph mccarthy throughout his campaign to destroy america’s right of free speech.

But why am I saying this on some right-wing website, you people are against the mosque, yet wouldn’t care if there was a church prior to 1995 in oklahoma city. You all have the memory of gnats.

Considering how lopsided the negative coverage was during the flooding (hardly any mention of the total botch job the state/locals dumped in FEMA/Bushes lap) that’s rather amazing. I’m hoping “theblaze” is run by adults who aren’t “moderating” based on obvious political bias like SOME sites I frequent (against my better judgment). Are you listening Huffington Post? This is Capitalism, go to someplace they appreciate getting eyeballs.

Think about this: Bush had to deal with an incompetent governor in Louisiana; how much worse would Obama look if Jindal wasn’t there?

Not only that, but Bush had an incompetent former mayor of New Orleans as well. I mean, who in their right mind would let buses sit somewhere to be flooded in when they could’ve been filled up with people and gotten them anywhere but N.O. before the storm.

On top of this, I know for a fact that Bush met with both of them the Friday before, telling Blanco to declare a state of emergency that day. Well, she waited…. until Saturday morning, and didn’t sign over power of the LA National Guard over to the federal government until days after, hence the very delayed response.

Obama is lucky he had Jindal as governor of Louisiana this time around; I and many Louisianians are glad he’s around. At least Jindal knows when to take action during a crisis.

      Probably won’t…

Look at the actual study. It seems like the results are more based upon political affiliation (and possibly racial lines) than an actual non-biased demographic. Take those into consideration and it’s practically a push.

Furthermore, if they break it down based on Moderates, it’s in favor of Obama: 43-39…

      Just saying….just blazing…
