‘Low-Sloping Foreheads’: Beck Slams NY Times Writer’s Description of Middle America

The New York Times never fails to rear its elitist head and this time is no exception.  During a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, NY Times columnist David Carr didn’t even attempt to conceal his disdain for people in Middle America.  For Carr, fly-over country is basically comprised of what he calls the “low-sloping forehead” variety.

“If it’s Kansas, Missouri, no big deal. You know, that’s the dance of the low-sloping foreheads. The middle places, right? [pause] Did I just say that aloud?”

Yes, Carr. You actually revealed your true colors and said that out loud.

Below is a clip of the condescension in action:

For Glenn Beck, however, Carr’s statement is more profound than a simple display of arrogance, and instead reveals the deep seated contempt progressives harbor for people in Middle America — the kind of contempt, Beck says, that leads one to advocate eugenics.

“These are the kinds of words that have always, since the history of progressivism, since it began, has always led to mass death.  Because you haven’t evolved enough.  Now, if you’re a Neanderthal and you’re holding back society and you truly believe the ends justify the means, why not kill the low‑sloping foreheads?”

Beck explained comments such as Carr’s come from the same philosophy as those adopted by Margaret Sanger and others who advocated eugenics and the purging of “undesirables.”

Mediate didn‘t seem to take Carr’s comment too seriously, however:

Today Glenn Beck took major exception to a comment made last Friday by NY Times‘ David Carr during an appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher. While responding to a critique of Gov.Chris Christie’s leadership of New Jersey — a “smart state” in the eyes of Maher — Carr took a swipe at the residents of Kansas and Missouri, specifically describing their “low-sloping foreheads.” It was clearly a joke (an offensive and unfunny one), but in Beck’s eyes, this is the sort of comment that “leads to death camps.”

Carr has since apologized. Time will tell if Beck follows suit for his Godwinian infraction, but I’m prepared to issue a ruling that they’re both losers in this feud.

Likewise, Huffington Post seemed to trivialize Beck’s connection of eugenics to progressivism even though historically, the two are inextricably linked:

On his Monday show, Beck took Carr’s words very seriously, tying them to what he described as a history of genocidal progressivism. (Beck has repeatedly connected the concept of progressivism to Nazism and eugenics.)

    There’s nothing to get excited about. Here in America, we’re all allowed opinions. I’m sure this David Carr fellow thinks himself a superior intellect. The type of person we should hang on his every word.
    But think about it for a minute. The man attacking middle America is a journalist, the most worthless profession on the face of the earth. He writes about his thought about what he sees. Come on, any moron can do that. Unlike a doctor, farmer, carpenter, dentist, electrician, or other occupations that benefit society, his life’s worth is meaningless. In addition, look at the type of company that he that chooses for his (laughing) profession. He’s so addle brained and lazy he works for an industry that peaked in the 19th century. His industry is dying, yet he hangs on like an old worker at the buggy whip factory. What kind of pathetic brain would continue to stay on a sinking ship?

    I found it interesting that HuffPo suggest that it was Beck that tied progressives to eugenics and Nazism. Actually, it was progressives themselves that have done that in their own history. This is another example of how the extreme left subtly, but deceitfully denies and shifts their OWN history and words.

    History also shows that degrading and dehumanizing people is one of the first steps toward the justification of annihilating them. It is no wonder that they would do this, since they consider themselves to be superior and other people to be less than themselves. Sounds Naziesque to me! The Devil is ramping up his hatred of the good people of the world and he won’t hesitate to take that hatred to the next level — killing them. That’s who progressives ARE! It’s in their natures to be hateful and to dehumanize those who oppose them because the Father of Lies is their inspiration source! It is no wonder that they were allied with the most tyrannical governments of the 20th Century because their ideologies were the same!

    The one problem is how do we start the ball rolling.How do we communicate.I guess we need to hold local meetings in our towns and communities.Anyone with suggestions please state them.We need PATRIOTS NOW.we need to protect our towns and states from this oppressive government that used to be called the UNITED STATES.Obama and this government are just like England was to the Colonialists.Oppressive taxes and interference in the lives of our citizens.

    When I found out that this comment was made on the Bill Maher show I knew it was just par for the course. I mean Maher called everyone who is conservative like a dog on one of his shows. I would like to know if his audience is actually forced to laugh or if they actually take the drivel that constantly comes out of the little man Maher and his guests. I don‘t think that dismissing people as stupid just because they don’t live on a coast is actually that intelligent of a statement. I imagine there are multitudes of people in the midwestern and southern states that are far more intelligent than Maher and his minions. I would love to see these so-called intellectuals actually have to fend for themselves for food housing and clothing, could they actually hunt and kill something to eat if need be? I am seriously doubting that they could, so does that make them stupid because they couldn’t actually fend for themselves if society as they know it fell apart? I would much rather be associated with someone who can care for themselves and actually cared for others than some know it all that couldn’t wipe his own ass unless someone went out and bought the toilet paper for him.

      I would rather just keep him isolated in the city where he belongs. We have seen his flawed thinking, he will never have any respect for anyone other than his lib-elite “peers”.     I sincerely want to know why Progressives are smart? And how do they know they are right with their ideas? Their ideas, I have noticed, are mostly gathered by grabbing on to ideas they read about and then for awhile they support it and then they turn on the idea because they find something more modern and smart. What a vicious circle.

    I am going to give an example of how confusing that idealism is which I stated in a different way on another story. How can some progressives crusade for animal abuse, the poor in other countries AND support abortion?

    Frankly, they have very little original thought. As I have watched closely, I have decided they are really good echoes.

      Progressives are always “smart”, never “wise”…the difference is that a smart person will insist that theoretically redistribution of wealth will make everyone equal, a wise person realizes that it kills human incentive to work hard. Progressives go quickly to murder as a way to control human nature…wise people let the free market do it for them. Smart progressives let mass graves prove they are right…wise conservatives let wealth CREATION and better living standards make their point. While the free market may be harsh, it does not use genocide as it’s ramrod…only smattering/unwise people do that.

      I am so happy to have been born in Texas. And, having traveled all over this world. The nicest, smartest, most hard working people are from “fly over country”. No matter what country you’re in. Like someone said about Carr and his associates, “He’s ok sitting up there as long as his belly is full from the hard work of the slanties.” You know where they will all be running to when the big one hits. Because the LEFT -MAAADE- it cliche so that people couldn’t use “Big Brother” without sounding stupid anymore and so that we can’t be like, “But it was the Plebians the whole time that give the party power by not revolting!”

      This type of dreg can never say why he feels as he does. He displays his lack of intelligence by declaring people to be beneath him, but never ginving reasons for his perverted opinions.

      Insults are the radical left’s response to challenges from the right to rebut the arguments. They can’t do it, and they‘re making everybody’s payback list.

      One thing that is important to note is that to believe in Progressive ideology there has to be a certain deficit of intellect (unless the individual is evil). One cannot lay claim to a sizable intelligence whilst holding on to such ill conceived notions as the Progressives avow. One can, however, be of average or slightly above average intellect and subscribe to such defective thinking. In the absence of an evil nature and in possession of a substantial intelligence such idiotic ideas are quickly dismissed as the fuming piles of excrement they really are. At its heart, Progressivism is an over abundance of ‘education’ coupled with a deficit of critical thinking. The best evidence of my assertion can be witnessed in the lack of will to debate their ideology but rather to have affinity with personal attacks, slander, character assassination and demagoguery .

      There are three types of Progressives: The ignorant, the stupid and the evil. The former is the overwhelming majority and can be ‘fixed’. The latter are hopeless and the stupid are the most dangerous in day to day encounters. To all you Progressives who disagree- next time you go to attack someone perhaps utilize the tenants of your philosophy to explain why and how they are wrong rather than simply attack them. If the stars align, you might be enlightened just a bit :-)
