NEW YORK (AP) — A publicity-seeking hacker group that has blazed a path of destruction on the Internet over the last two months says it is dissolving itself.
Lulz Security made its announcement Saturday through its Twitter account. In an unusual strategy for a hacker group, LulzSec has used the account as a publicity platform while remaining anonymous.
The group’s disbandment comes unexpectedly, and could be a sign of nerves in the face of law enforcement investigations. One of the group’s six members was interviewed by The Associated Press on Friday, and gave no indication that its work was ending.
LulzSec claimed hacks on major entertainment companies, FBI partner organizations, the CIA, the U.S. Senate and a pornography website.

Posted on June 26, 2011 at 8:27pmi’m pretty much with those who guess they were second rate hackers playing daft little games hacking any high profile soft target they could for e-peen and pwn points. This group of retards hit everything from government sites to porn sites to computer game company sites beating their hairless chests, releasing the private information of innocent individuals and handing the government every reason possible to clamp down on net traffic and usage.
There was no greater ideology here. The whole ‘anarchist hackers bringing down the government’ deal was nothing more than ***** and giggles for a bored and useless bunch of basement dwelling ne’er-do-wells who’s only contribution to life was to make a lamentably poor choice on how they were going to seize their 15 minutes of fame.
A hacker organisation i totally support? The hacker group who’s sole aim is to infiltrate sites used by pedophiles to bring down the site and release all information on users and acct holders to the police…. Morally questionable skills put to damned good use.

Posted on June 26, 2011 at 2:01pmAuthorities hot on their trail?
Did they see evidence the feds were tracing their web attacks back to them?
Getting out before their pattern is established?
REFORMING under a new name!
(they urged for ‘others’ to continue in their footsteps)
For a group ‘concerned’ with ‘security’ they sure take a VERY WRONG stand on border security!!!
Maybe too much infighting – maybe one of them grew a conscience!
Maybe one of them realized they were about to go to FEDERAL PRISON FOR LIFE!
Maybe they disagreed over their next target? (U.S. Military? etc.)
TRACE. ARREST. PROSECUTE. CONVICT. PUNISH. PUNISH. PUNISH.
We cannot let this slide, just because they “quit” doing it – these FELONS, WILL repeat their CRIMES.
This may also be a part of pushing ‘net neutrality’ and federal control / warrantless spying on citizens.

Posted on June 26, 2011 at 3:40pmMore likely they underestimated what they were getting involved in. Once you gain fame you gain attention which makes you a target. Plenty of hackers prey on their own. Its like a duel or a one up. Gotta show off your big swingin..err..skills. The government has some pretty mighty juice these days too so I’m sure the deep water got a little cold and dark with all the attention. It can also be difficult bringing together these types of personalities for a unified purpose. I’m sure there was lots of infighting.
