Lunch With Warren Buffett? That’ll Be $3.5 Million

Warren Buffett lunch

AP

It’s probably safe to say this is someone who would qualify for the “Buffett rule”: An anonymous bidder is forking over nearly $3.5 million to have lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

According to the Associated Press, it’s part of an annual charity auction Buffett takes part in every year to raise money for the Glide Foundation, which helps the homeless in San Francisco. This year’s winning bid was a record-breaking $3,456,789.

The Gilde Foundation said this year’s winner has chosen to remain anonymous; 10 other people were actively involved in the bidding, which jumped in the auction’s last hour from $1 million to the final $3.46 million.

Winning bids have topped $2 million every year for the last four years, setting records every time. Last year’s winner paid $2,626,411 to break bread with Buffett.

Buffett has made news last year after he penned an op-ed for the New York Times calling for Congress to raise taxes on the wealthy. President Barack Obama subsequently took up the case for what became known as the “Buffett rule,” which would have seen those making more than $1 million annually pay at least 30 percent of their income in taxes. The plan was derailed in the Senate in April.

Okay, I’ll take the $3.5M to eat with this worthless individual, but not a penny less. And he needs to pick up the check and leave a good tip too. But no conversation, I just want to get this over as quickly as possible.

According to the AP the Glide Foundation has an annual budget of around $17 MILLION for “social services” for the homeless and poor. With a budget of $17 million A YEAR, couldn’t they just like… ask Mr. Kindly Benefactor Warren Buffet to help them start a business and put those who are able to work? Give them some dignity? The gift of independence?

(Here, let‘s put that in a Van Jone’s voice: GIVE THEM SOME DIGNITY!
GIVE THEM SOME INDEPENDENCE FROM THE MAN!)

$17 million every year….yeah, there’s big bucks in keeping people homeless and poor.

Hmmmmm ………….. 17mil a year for the homeless. That’s a lot of homeless. And how much goes to the ‘admin fees’ for this charity. After about 5yrs of that budget most of the ‘homeless’ should be pretty well healed. Or is that just for the medicinal marijuana and other ‘therapies’?

Thing that gets me about Buffett is his boyish/honest/corn huskin’ demeanor– when he’s really just an msm-using Washington power monger based in Nebraska.

Up in age now. Buffet use to have a good solid reputation. Now that he is in bed with Obama, Soros and the 99%. I wouldn’t walk across the street to spit on him if he was on fire. He is a Great Anti-American.

I think he should invite the 99% to join him , and pick up the check, after all he could write it off as
a business expense, since he seems reluctant to pay his “fair share” !

Why would you pay 3.5 million to dine with an old Obama-loving fart like Buffet when you can give the money directly to a charity of your own choosing? The 1% obama-loving hippocrites don’t know what else to do with their money.

Excerpts from Warren Buffett’s 12/30/07 BRACE Character Profile:
Dr. X indicated that one of his hobbies is studying the investing mind of Mr. Warren Edward Buffett. Dr. X submitted the input ratings asking what information about Mr. Buffett’s investing mind could be gleaned from these subjective estimations. ..The author suggested that Dr. X formulate seven questions of interest to focus the analysis: an individual with a strong sense of self and purpose…some type of internal conflict, perhaps of competing values and beliefs. A deeper level of analysis follows…an individual who is calculating and determined, but pro-social rather than anti-social. It is particularly important to note that there is a high degree of cognitive flexibility/adaptability but a very focused and unrelenting pursuit of fixed goals and objectives…an uncompromising individual when it comes to basic values and beliefs…a narrow range of pleasures and interests, and a felt need for independence, order and control, but this individual is neither selfish nor exploitive. There is a high desire for predictability…suggest that the preoccupation with and desire for power and control is driven by an underlying interpersonal anxiety…These findings confirm an absence of antisocial thought processes and motivation, in combination with a high sensitivity to interpersonal processes and nonverbal cues.[responses to 7 questions follow].

The left and so called 99% still have me laughing. They snuggle up to the likes of Buffett then attempt to excoriate the Koch Brothers. Hypocrisy is thy name.

Buffett rule makes anyone over a million pay MORE than 30%?? How do they figure that. The numbers don’t add up. Most people who pay taxes at any level pay more than that. Our money is taxed over and over and over again. Only “investment income” is taxed at 15% and even then is subject to future taxes if you SPEND it. we don’t need to be giving our government any more hard earned dollars so they can BLOW them in Vegas or Hawaii! I think the people have said “ENOUGH!” Get you spending under control FIRST. I say let all those RICH big mouths who want to pay more, volunteer to DO SO and use it ONLY to reduce the deficit we are handing our kids.
