Many of you read our previous post about the fake news story that made it’s way on to The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. To her credit, Maddow quickly copped to having been duped by the post on Christwire.org.
Here is how it played on Monday night:
But on Tuesday night her lengthy “excuse slash explanation” focused on Glenn Beck. Of course.
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters says this proves once again, “That it takes a lot of rationalizations to be a liberal these days.”
Noel has a pretty thorough transcription of the Maddow segment. You can find it, along with some pointed analysis, right here.

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 3:43amOkay Rachel, just keep mocking Glenn. He cares enough to warn people of the things he believes to be true. Glenn asks us to do our own homework, make up our own minds, and hope for the best & prepare for the worst. What will you do when the rains come and there‘s not room on your neighbor’s ark? I have been buying extra food for my family because I’m not taking a chance of letting my children go hungry. I have seeds and we are learning to grow things. (It’s also a good idea to buy extra soap, toothpaste, band-aids, Tylenol, t.p., & things you wouldn’t ever want to be without.) Rachel, you may not believe him, but would it really hurt anything to have a little extra food saved away? How will you feel if crisis comes and your viewers are not prepared because they believed you when you told them Glenn was a joke? How will you feel then? Is it really so far fetched to believe we could have a situation where food will be hard to come by? For your sake and your viewers, I hope you wise up!

As for the insurrection, none of us knows the day or the hour, but it is coming and incidents like this in Egypt are signs of its coming. Check out another website, uncoverag.net that has proof Obama is working behind the scenes to incite the riots in Egypt.

Unemployment at 9.4% (& that only dropped from 9.8% because of the number of 99′ers who are no longer eligible & the real unemployment number is estimated at 17-20% which is depression level)
Inflation is going up in reality (because the government took food & energy out of the calculations…been to the grocery store lately?)
The estimated economic growth level is 3% which is essentially stagnant.
The state governments are borderline in recievership because of thier debt.
The federal government has over 14 trillion dollars of debt & over 112 trillion in unfunded liabilities.
Doing better? If you are referring to the stock market going above 12,000 today..oh boy; most of the fortune 500 companies are indeed making profits…overseas!

Just wondering where you bought your crystal ball of empirical truth; you seem to know all and don’t see a chance of what Beck and others see as “possibilities”. Ignoring the history, signs and indications follows along the same line of thinking that ignored the Holocaust, sees a benevolent ruler in Mao and Stalin, recognizes Che Rivera as a freedom fighter, and in this case sees a mob of hundreds of thousands as a potential ruling force in the most volatile region in the world. We all pray that Mr. Beck is wrong. But there is nothing wrong with contingency planning, preparation, and examining potential and all to real scenarios. Open your mind, not your mouth.

Maddow and others like her/him do not take the time to listen objectively and investigate the claims made by Beck (and others) regarding the dangers of the insurrections around the world including what is happening in Europe. They [liberals] stoop to only criticize, throw stones, and name call without an ounce of knowledge or insight. Instead of contingency planning, our liberal media and government failed to have a course of action regarding the real world potentials for an international crisis. I would rather be safe and prepared after hear the sky is falling or that the wolf is coming than to end up as someone’s snack for the day or in hospital with a crushed cranium because I was “too smart” for all that. Ahhhhh, I understand now Ms. Maddow, Glenn Beck caused your misstep. If he hadn’t spoken about things he believes in you would have checked your sources first, right? Hon, you either need to fire the staff who is supposed to check out stuff first or fire yourself cause you really made yourself look really really ignorant and not a very good, mmmm journalist? Satirist? Oh shoot, you can‘t be that cause you didn’t recognize satire to start with. Geeze and MSNBC wonders why people like me (who started out enjoying and reading MSNBC online ALL the time) to someone who became so disgusted that I emailed them to inform them that they lost ME as a customer and why. Hon, it was people like you. And guess what? MSNBC will CONTINUE to be in the dumps for ratings UNTIL management cleans up their act and hires some people who are worth listening to….and someone, who, even if you disagree with them, you know they at LEAST check their facts FIRST. Last year Beck showed his audience the amount of research done by his staff (stacks & reams of it,I believe he stated over 5000hours of research) to sopport his conclusions (which have a bad habit of being accurate) & opinions. Maddow didn’t do 5 minutes (less that 300 seconds) to regurgitate something that SHE WANTED to be true.

If the research indicates tha 15-20% of human beings are succeptable to “tottalitarian rule”, & an additional 3-8% are willing to go along or believe in almost anything…propaganda, & “marketing” are very strong tools. The American Revolution was conducted with about 10-12% of the population; so the “coming insurrection” concept isn’t that outrageous is it?

to start it is 7% of its shares. To be honest you could do that to all the other news orginazations there are and find money going to places no one likes. That what happens on a public exchange market the public (including dirty individuals) have access to it. The main point though is weather or not they have it they effect the news. Wich considering there calling islam out means that the individual has no say. So attacking them on the fact they allow there stocks to publicly be bought and sold means you would have to attack every company that does in order to not allow the bad guys to get it wich would stiffle a free market. I’m not sure, there’s alot of factors there…the primary linking themes seem to be a common religion & a hatred of Jews & Isreal.
Using the orginizing tactics that have been so effective here with those common denominators could be problematic.
Historical reference: Hitler managed to unite Germany based on the economic problems caused by the Versales treaty & the irresponsible management of Weimar; combined with the idea of an oppressive internal enemy “the Jews”.
Economic instability reigns these days, in the middle east the “Jews” are always a convenient scapegoat, in this country we have altered the term for the same enemy.
Does anyone else find the demonization of “Bankers” eerily familiar?

Several countries face unrest and the leader ships are leaving for instance yemen dictator is also stepping down. The mb and other radicals are organized and have been participating in the government so the likely hood several of these countries to go radical islam is possible. the problem is if several radical islam states could combine and have power hungry individual sacrifice some and give it to others in name of starting a caliphate. If the groups can unite under a common goal like killing the westerners and isreal infedels than yes. However the first step to increasing the likely hood of a caliphate depends on several countries falling to radical islam if that happens the caliphate could easily go from improbable to probable or worse garanteed.

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 6:07amShe is nothing but a George Soros minion do her best to discredit Glenn Beck this was to be expected. The real question is, if Glenn Beck is such a nut job why then give him a greater venue. Why spend so much time trying to discredit him?
Glenn will lose the some of the center and left of center because he refuses to compromise his values and what he believes is true. I believe his overt proclamations makes him vulnerable to this type of attacks. It is very funny, when he turns out to be right in any manner the left goes silent or as usual deflect. David Horowitz, the red dipper baby and communist activist of the sixties turned conservative, says it best, I am paraphrasing here.
“The problem with the conservatives is that they are too well mannered, too decent hard working honest people. My mission in life is to teach conservatives bad manners.”

My guess is that all she has to prove she is a journalist is the last invitation she received to a Liberal dinner party.
Once you start listening to these people and realize that the Left is not talking to you. They are talking over you, to their dinner party friends and their Journolist buddies. How ridiculous. This is a non-story about Maddow making a mistake, admitting it, calling shame on herself for doing it, and then explaining that the nonsense Glenn Beck vomits every day is actually crazier than the satire. Stranger than fiction. She was incorrect to believe the writer who handed her the piece on Christwire, but Glenn Beck actually continues to believe the stuff he says. Russia is going to take over The Netherlands, maybe, who knows? I guess they’d skip over Germany?…being that the Netherlands doesn’t border the former Soviet Union..? And China conquering New Zealand? Why not, hey, maybe they‘ll take Antarctica while they’re at it.
The thing is, Glenn Beck is a bafoon who’s lucky that his paranoid delusion makes him millions of dollars. And somehow he has you convinced that he, a semester-long college dropout is superior in analysis to Rachel Maddow who studied politics at Oxford. Sorry guys, rolling up your sleeves and heading down to the tax-payer funded library and reading a few books one afternoon isn’t the equivalent of a graduate degree. Education matters. It enables you to avoid making conclusions like China is going to invade New Zealand, and the former U.S.S.R will invade The Netherlands, ignoring Germany.
But keep it up with your lesbian and ratings jokes. Meanwhile the rest of us will continue running the country, or, er, destroying the republic, or whatever.

Here are the daily segments from MSNBC – Palin, Bush, Bachmann, Rush and Tea Party is coming after the old (Social Security), young (Education) and the womb (Back Alley Abortions). I find it amusing that all of them go out of their way to assault the intelligence of their viewers. I predict Mathews will be off the air by mid-June followed by Schultz in August and a conservative lineup will be incorporated by Feb 2012. Some will blame the change on Comcast, but we all know it will be from their dreadful ratings

Just a few short months ago Fox News reported that the LAPD was buying 10,000 jet packs. Had Fox utilized basic journalism standards, this story never would have appeared. Further, Ms Maddow is widely regarded as quite intelligent, a Rhodes scholar I believe, and has achieved much in her life. I ask only that the emotionalism so prevalent in today’s discourse not distract us from honest and reasonable assessment. You don’t have to agree with Ms Maddow or Mr Beck to remain focused on what is true and important.

@Everyone
Won’t regurgitate the whole post here, just look north a few posts.
It is funny to me that a liberal would give full homage to an elite “degree” from an “elite” university, where all one has to do is sit and be told what to think, what to study to get a passing grade on a test, and be told what conclusions to reach. This doesn’t happen in 100% of classes, or in 100% of schools, but Oxford University (England, right?) hass a VERY socialist mindset amonst their professors and overall teaching philosophy. It was no shock to me to learn rachel earned her degree in such a school.
But yet, a “one semester drop-out” who was self-educated and MUST read all the books he’s claimed to have in order to come up with facts on the fly on his radio show, you ridicule him as an idiot who needs him some more smarts. Do you even know how condescending that is? How elitist-minded and smug? I have no problem with you disagreeing with Beck, but how bout presenting facts instead of calling him stupid?
Here’s some facts for ya:
Some people who NEVER went to college. See if you recognize any…
Bill Gates
Henry Ford
Andrew Jackson
John D. Rockefeller Sr
To name a few. NOW why don’t you try to dissuade me from believing Beck in a logical, thought provoking way? Can‘t be too hard for you as Beck’s ideas ARE pretty far fetched and hard to grasp.
And, I assume, YOU have a degree of some sort?
I was a 6 year Marine, and graduate of a TECHNICAL college.
Should be a cakewalk for you to trounce me, tough guy?

If I needed someone to fix my pipes, I’d hire a plumber. If I needed to storm a beach, I’d call you. If I need foreign policy analysis I’d go to a foreign policy expert, not someone who has read a few books and talked about it on the radio. Anyone can read a book, but it either takes great insight or proper teachers to help teach the ideas and a book.
Are you hallucinating? Oxford a socialist university? Margaret Thatcher went to Oxford…..and yes…it’s in England. You recognize her right? Conservative British icon…you people love her. She went to Oxford…
You’ve got to be kidding about John Rockefeller. He founded two universities. Let me repeat that with bigger letters for you. He FOUNDED the University of Chicago (that socialist beacon that attracted the Obamas).
Bill Gates went to Harvard for three years…what do you mean he didn’t go to college? He also made about a perfect on the SAT. So I’ll make a caveat for Harvard dropouts with perfect SATs who change the world with an operating system.
It’s just more of the same out of you. You really should be ashamed for being so wrong. I thought you people talked about researching things? Finding things IN A BOOK or whatever it is you like to spell with capital letters.
See, this is what happens when you *think* you know things. Take for example Beck in the clip above. He completely, and I mean *completely* misunderstands the entire Cold War in a statement like “Maybe The Netherlands, who knows”. The supposition that China would invade New Zealand (I guess skipping Australia) is such a misunderstanding of China’s current delicate territorial dispute situation. They haven’t invaded Taiwan in decades, but they’re going to invade New Zealand?
And the reason this bothers me is because while his beliefs about China are silly and inconsequential, he motivates people to be violent with his ideas, and he convinces people like you that necessary things like a Public Option in healthcare are “rationing healthcare” which is what we do already. These wild beliefs hurt people, mysacredhonor, and while I agree with you that people with college educations are certainly not infallible, my opinion is that if you’re going to fix my pipes, you better be a plumber.
And as for me “trouncing” you, I‘m sure you’d rough me up a bit, but so could the stray dogs that I hear barking at night, and they’re not giving anyone foreign policy advice.
