Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake Rattles Japan

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake has struck northern Japan. The quake hit at 11:45 a.m. (Wednesday) local time.

The country’s meteorological agency immediately issued a tsunami alert for its northeastern coast, however no oceanic disturbance has been recorded.

Although the quake’s epicenter was located some 200 miles north of the city, the Associated Press reports that the strong earthquake shook buildings in Tokyo. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but officials are still assessing the situation.

    I have recently read of the occurrence and frequency of earthquakes around the world, some being catastrophic. The San Andreas fault in California is way overdue, including the Caldera located in Yellow Springs National park.
    If either one were to happen all bets of economic recovery to world wide uprisings would be dwarfed. Just the Caldera in Yellow Stone National park were to occur it would be a world wide killer, and if the San Andreas fault were to occur it would severely damage the US economy let alone California. To again quote Murphy’s law “if anything were to go wrong it will”
    Each and every time I read of these increasing frequency of earthquakes my fear factor rises in regards to the fault line and Caldera in California.

      Revelation 12:16-17 says “the earth came to the womans help, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river that the dragon disgorged from its mouth…….”
      But this does not fit what Islandlady said. She must be remembering it wrong. It happens.

    I’ve been tracking Earthquakes that are over 6.0 magnitude for the past year. 7.0 & above are on the increase and are scattered all over the Earth. We are also experiencing 4.5 & above in our own country in areas where there haven’t been any in over a hundred years. I was bored. But this definitely has my attention now.

    There have always been Quakes and wars..
    But lately, the tempo is speeding up.

    Christ speaks of Earthquakes occurring in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21. But its Luke that gives the definition we need to watch for as Luke referes to them as Mega Earthquakes “Megas-Siezmos” Go to the USGS website and you can historically trace the occurrence of Mega (8.0 and higher) earthquakes, which have been on the rise for the last 4 decades. 2007 was the banner year, when 4 8.0 or better earthquakes occurred. Past decades only recorded 3 or 4 mega earth quakes in the entire decade, now we are seeing 1 to 4 within one single year. So yes mega-earth quakes are on the rise, just as Christ predicted they would be.

      I live in Japan…a 7.2 is big anywhere. No, I was not in this region, but last week we had a 5.4 and a 5.6 here.

      You both are correct. My mistake, this is a big one. I have been sick this week and I made a mistake on relating to the size of 7.2 magnitude. I don’t know if anyone every goes back and reads these stories but if you do, Mr_Anderson, I hope all is well with you, your family, and friends after this massive 8.9 quake has hit.       Don’t wish that even in jest. An earthquake of that magnitude would level most east coast cities and the death toll could be as high as Haiti’s. That would be a horrible thing to have happen.

      So what? Earthquakes are as normal as sunrises on this planet. When I hear this “God” stuff every time there’s a natural event happening, it makes me want to vomit.       in the past 4 days there have been 6 earthquakes around the world greater than 6.0. there have been dozens in arkansas in the last two weeks ranging from 2.0 to mid 4′s. there have been earthquakes recently in oklahoma and other midwest areas. there are constantly earthquakes in alaska and california. go to usgs latest earthquakes last 7 days.
