Maine Gov. Tells NAACP: ‘Kiss My Butt’

Newly-elected Maine Governor Paul LePage (R) didn’t mince words when confronted about comments from the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) that his actions show a pattern of indifference to blacks. In fact, he had a message for the group: “Tell ‘em to kiss my butt.”
WCSH says LePage declined an invitation from the NAACP to take part in a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day event on Sunday. That upset the group, and on Thursday WCSH confronted LePage with the NAACP’s accusation. LePage, a white man with an adopted black son, didn’t really care what the NAACP thought of him, calling it nothing but a “special interest”:
“They are a special interest. End of story…and I’m not going to be held hostage by special interests. And if they want, they can look at my family picture. My son happens to be black, so they can do whatever they’d like about it,” he said.
Later, the governor‘s communications director told WCSH the governor had prior personal commitments as well as a state trooper’s funeral on Monday. And he didn‘t apologize for the governor’s statement.
During the campaign, LePage made headlines by saying if he were elected he wouldn’t be afraid to tell President Obama to “go to hell.”

Posted on January 14, 2011 at 1:48pmThis gov. obviously considers everyone to be equal. Sounds like the NAACP wanted the gov. to see some prisoners as “more than equal than others”. Nope, if you visit one, you can visit another. The gov. does not wish to color-code his treatment of people. This is the real vision of MLK jr. Lucky for these NAACP folks that the gov was there to remind them of that.

They are more of a trouble making and race hustling shake down group, keeping blacks poor keeps them in business. The same goes for La Raza they also exist to act as a protector of Hispanic rights but actually are a Marxist organization that also shakes down Government and Companies in the name of social justice all our frauds.

If a group is pro-Constitution, it’s not a special interest. Class-based groups, however, like the NAACP, are.
The NRA (before it was bought off by the Left), stood for not only the Second Amendment, but also for the First Amendment, for the defense of which the Second Amendment was written.

Not exactly. He swears an oath to the Constitution, not to the whims of the People. We are a Representative Republic, not a Democracy.
The Constitution was established to guarantee the security of each individual’s unalienable rights. Therefore, each elected official has a duty to oppose the ideals of those citizens of America which are opposed to the Constitution. When they don’t, they are violating their oath to the Constitution, and are guilty of treason.

“He ain‘t braking no constitution by bein’ nice when he sayz no to the NCAA, no?”
I wasn’t referring to his response, but to his position on the NAACP – that it’s a special interest.
As for his tone and choice of words, he probably see’s the NAACP as the cause of a lot of class-warfare and as ideologically opposed to the Constitution (which is how I see them).
It’s amazing what the NAACP gets away with. The rest of us want to treat everyone as human beings, but here you have this racist color-based group choosing to recognize themselves as a class of people, and then they cry racism when they get recognized as the class of people they say they are.
I don’t see them as a class. They are simply a group of people who have been deceived into thinking that color means anything. It doesn’t.

Our interests obviously are not being looked out for as we are being discriminated against and portrayed on tv commercials as criminals, (seen any of those home security commercials) always being accused of racism if we want our borders protected or disagree with President Obama. I am 100% against these types of special interest groups but maybe that is what it will take to get all Americans to just call themselves Americans and stop pitting themselves against fellow Americans and stop thinking they are victims and the us against them mentality.

Good points but be careful not to take yourself too seriously regarding race. You are black. I am white. I would like to say that I would die for you in the trench and I would like to think that you would do the same for me for freedom which I know we both believe in. With me so far?
Now here comes the challenge. I boot camp we had a DI who no one could stand. We were all convinced he was a coarse white bigot to the black and to the rest of us just plain offensive. When one night I happened to hear him coment that “It didn’t matter if recruits hated him if it saved lives.”
The challenge for you and me is to work as a team. When teams form a bond that can stomach insults and injury and rise above it we will then discover that we can survive any challenge. Even death itself. If I tell you to kiss my ass. You can get angry and respond as such. But then again maybe this is one man and he one Gov who is trying to save your and this republics’ life.
Give it some thought before you respond and God bless you!
PS: I’m sure the Gov. really loves his adopted son and is not using him. Team work also starts by not assuming the worse when people boldly state their convictions no matter how unpopular. He’s just doing something that politicians rarely do by not being afraid to push back and be his own man. I’m sure he is cool with it. He had other commitments that he couldn’t refuse and was simply telling it like it was to a group that made a bad attempt at controlling him. I’m sure the come back about his kid was spontaneous and not calculated. All evidence of body language tends to point in that direction,

“However, when you come off as mean spirited, you lose.”
I’ve never judged the validity of what someone said by how they said it.
Maybe the tone reveals a bit about the meaning behind the words one uses – and to that extent one might better be able to address the underlying motivations for the words used – but the words used are either correct or incorrect on their own merit.
I never fault someone for being angry, per se. In their mind, maybe they think they have a right to be angry. The question is really whether or not they actually do have a right to be angry, and only reason will be able to reveal that.
And, yes, sometimes anger and violence are justified, Constitutionally speaking – that’s part of the reason why the Bill of Rights was written, to keep government from abusing its power.
“The left hates Sarah because she is poised, dignified, and she never appears to be angry … ever!”
Palin is kind of sheltered, in that she frequents her base. For example, when my hottie/useful-idiot girlfriend Katie Couric asked her what she was reading, after Palin said she was reading some stuff, Palin didn’t want to say which ones.
Palin’s getting better, but, alas, she’s a woman, and I have a problem with women in the roles of men. She’s hot, and as one ******* noted, though in different words: that‘s kind of how we’re supposed to see her; She’s not Presidential for her gender alone, though I think she’s bright enough. No foreign official takes her seriously – they’re all drooling over her.
“I really voted for the GOP because of her! I‘m not stupid and I know that you aren’t either. The substance doesn’t change, but attitude has to change in order for us liberal TEA PARTIERS to be successful. OK? OK.”
I don’t have a problem with the attitude of the Left, per se. I just wish that the non-Saul-Alinsky types would think for themselves, and be willing to actually argue the points. The Saul Alinsky types, of course, are just there to deceive people.

But his adopted son IS a racial shield, in that it disproves the NAACP’s claim that he has shown a “pattern of indifference to blacks”. The NAACP was clearly race-baiting, and the Governor got pissed because of it – and rightfully so.

He’s using his son as a racial shield.
Comment however before you go back and review OTTO (and I mean this with the deepest respect for you feelings and honest interest in what I believe to be a sincere and healthy debate:
Regardless if the son or wife is white or black a man’s innocent until proven guilty. And I sincerely believe if you carefully look at my initial response above that you really don’t have enough proof that the man is a racist. That as I’ve witnessed over the course of the last 30 years issues of racism by political panderers has become rediculously polarized where we have all (Black & White) been taken in. And since an NAACP racist charge comes with a penalty and has ruined many a career this is no laughing matter. Accusing someone of being racist is tantamount to accusing someone in this day and age to being worse than a murderer or rapist (unfortunately).
Also accusing a father of using an adopted son as a “shield” without proof? I assume the man pissed you off. Nonetheless calm down damnit! He may be sincere and again from watching the video I got the impression his defense was spontaneous and not calculated. In which case you are the one under the microscope not the Gov for accusing him of using his beloved as a shield. I trust you are not a vicious person to make such a statement. Yet someone else might charge you with being just that without further explaination, But just as I watched the video and am willing to give the Maine Rep the benifit so am I willing to trust that you are just angry and not vicious. So please calm down and go back and review my initial response using my boot camp experience to see if we can establish an understanding that might revolutionize the racist paradigm in a positive way that can break the tension and both have a good laugh at ourselves for making the racist argument more important than freedom and prudent justice. Please read carefully and let me know if it makes sense to you. God speed.

I just disagreed with the gov’s use of the fact that his son is black as exculpatory evidence that he is not racist. I don’t even use the word “adopted son”, no, it’s his son. But, this brings up a very important point for white people who are afraid to speak about racial issues because of well placed fears of having their lives destroyed by accusations of racism. Look at the Christian lady in Pakistan who was sentenced to death for blasphemy and look at the white person who has had their lives destroyed for simply talking about race (Jimmy the Greek, Al Campanis, etc.). The two situations are getting dangerously similar, so how much free-er and better are we than Pakistan?

They don’t want to be treated like everyone else. It takes a lot of tax dollars to keep up their place on the cross they’ve nailed themselves to. When will they get it? If you garner special favor off the backs of others because of your skin color, you cannot cry racism when people resent it. The NAACP makes me sick, literally. They have created a culture that has enabled an entire sector of society to remain impoverished and hopeless so they can continue to milk they system.

What he’s not doing is treating black folks in his state any differently than he is white folks. What a concept. Equal treatment under the law. Wow. Now, if you’d like to go down the oath route, perhaps you should start with the Democrats in Congress who swore an oath to protect the Constitution and then proceeded to piss on it every day for the last two years and admitted it in public. You do that, then you might garner some credibility.
