Man Arrested for Making Threat Against Colorado Senator

A Colorado man has been arrested after police say he threatened to shoot Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet’s staff members. John Troy Davis, 44, now faces federal charges after making a series of phone calls to the Democrat’s Denver office over the past month.
According to the FBI, Davis called the senator’s office a number of times to complain about his Social Security benefits. But during a phone call last Thursday, Davis told one staffer that he was “a schizophrenic” who needed help.
“I’m just going to come down there and shoot you all,” Davis said, according to the criminal complaint. “To get your attention, I will go down there and set fire to the perimeter,” he reportedly said, adding that he “may go to terrorism.“ Davis also told the unnamed staff that he ”killed that woman,” thought it’s not clear at this point what woman he was talking about.
Davis was promptly arrested on Friday and was scheduled to appear in Denver federal court Monday afternoon. He is accused of violating federal law in making threats to assault, kidnap or murder a United States official.
Since the arrest, U.S. Capitol police say they have added extra security patrols around Bennet’s Denver home and office.
“We can confirm that there was a threat against Senator Bennet’s office and that the FBI working with the Capitol Police have arrested the individual responsible for the threat,” Bennet spokesman Adam Bozzi said Monday.
“Michael has full confidence in the law enforcement agencies handling the case and remains focused on his job serving the people of Colorado,” Bozzi added.
The threat to Sen. Bennet occurred before the attempted murder of an Arizona congresswoman on Saturday, a shooting incident that killed six people and wounded 14 others.

Posted on January 11, 2011 at 3:40amJust another thing for the left to blame on conservatives. Do they really believe what they say or do they just do it for political points.
Please support My new Blog called Freedom Apparatus. I am a Journalism and Mass Communication Major and a Political Science and Government minor, and I also believe that we do not have enough Fiscal Conservastive Journalism in the press (believe me, it is true) and I think we need more. I am still in my first year, but figured that I should get a start now. Thank you, and God Bless you all.

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 11:56pmSo… two things:
1. If the guys is already under arrest, why the extra security?
2. If we already have laws that (apparently) allowed for the arrest of this person for making threats, THEN… why do the Dems need to create NEW laws in order stop the next Safeway debacle?

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 7:50pmI think that all persons that make physical threats against any elected official should be investigated.
Who knows how close to the edge these people are? I worry for Sarah Palin (who holds no office).
There is some identical language on this site that Loughner used in reference to Gifford. Loughner wrote that Gifford is “a stupid (b-word) who knows nothing about anything”.
I’ve seen the exact same words written about Palin here by “Left” writers. I hope that none of them can get to Palin.

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 6:57pmMy guess is, the other commonality will be that this insane person didn’t think his congressman was being liberal enough. I believe that was the case in AZ – the gunmen thought his Dem Congresswoman was a traitor to her party. This moron in Colorado probably felt the same way since he is complaining about the level of his government entitlements.
Then again, there is a chance that the only common denominator is that they are both just crazy.

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 7:00pmActually Crazy begets Crazy so Saturday’s shooting _must_ have been caused by this guy:
“Davis was promptly arrested on Friday and was scheduled to appear in Denver federal court Monday afternoon. He is accused of violating federal law in making threats to assault, kidnap or murder a United States official.”
Clearly this guy’s violation of the existing federal law by making threats to assault, kidnap or murder a United States official did not stop JLL from acting out on Saturday so we must make a new law that crazy criminals can also ignore.
Criminals don’t obey laws.

Well, it does make COMMON SENSE! This is in scarce supply these days, and it is refreshing to see it in action, unlike the hue and cry coming from the MSM RE: the AZ tragedy.
