Man Catches Bare-Handed Foul Ball While…Holding a Baby

If you missed this clip, you’ll most definitely want to check it out. At the Braves game on Monday in Atlanta (the team lost 4-1 to the Chicago Cubs), a man in the stands caught a foul-ball. While this certainly isn’t uncommon, this particular catch is noteworthy. While he reached up with his left hand to make the bare-handed grab, he was — astoundingly — holding a baby in is right arm.
The Huffington Post has more about the astounding catch:
The baby seems to be wearing a bib emblazoned with the Cubs’ logo and the woman to the right of the man who made the snag is also wearing a Cubs shirt. IF she is the mother of this child then she seems far more psyched about the catch than concerned about the child in the moment.
To his credit, the Braves fan who made this snag never seemed close to dropping the youngster, which puts him well ahead of some other folks who have found themselves in similar situations.
Watch the incredible moment for yourself, below:

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 3:09pmThis guy was protecting his child as well as catching the ball! the only persons who would drop his kid to catch the ball would be a looney liberal who probably have aborted his kid first or dropped his kid at the point ok catching the ball, looney liberals judge every one by their own inadequacies!!!

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 3:55pmA liberal wouldn’t even BE there unless admitted free.
Report Post »It’s way too AMERICAN for a liberal to enjoy,
and they don’t take food stamps for hot dogs.
Further evidence he’s a conservative – a WOMAN was with him.
And even MORE, he didn’t fake a hand injury to get on disability
or sue the ball park…

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:54amJust be glad it was a baseball game and not football because he might get confused and spike the baby instead.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:44amGreat catch, yes… but like texting and driving…could have led to a baby being dropped on it’s head due to his inattention and focus on a foul ball rather than a baby at that moment, or a ball off the baby‘s forehead if he made a slight misjudgedment and wasn’t quite the bleecher outfielder he thought he was.
If it were me (big Baseball fan here), my baby (now Grand Children) comes first (shielded from harm), then a congratulations to someone else who may have caught it. There’s always another day for a foul ball when your child is old enough to stand next to you and try to make a catch themselves in competetion with the old man.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 1:51pmLmao @ Kernal DOGGY. Based on what you wrote below… “A man who is not afraid to risk his child getting hurt”… I‘ll bet you’re a hoot at the family 4th of July gatherings.
You might be the old coot of an uncle coaxing little one’s to run to your car parked on the other side of the busy highway to fetch you another pack of smokes and telling them that IF they make it… uncle Kernal has a reward for them… a cigarette they can sneak behind the bushes, or a generous swig of your Rum and Coke because that’s how they do it Kernal-land. I write “uncle” because based on what I’ve seen you write before… I’m hoping you never had a hand in reproduction yourself. If you WERE in the Army, I can only imagine what “others” may have “risked” having been in the general proximity of, or for the amusement of Kernal DOGGY.
There’s a BIG difference in a “child” getting hurt needlessly (which every parent, uncle, friend or neighbor I would hope.. avoids at all cost) as opposed to “making the choice” of climbing and falling from a tree, monkey bars.. breaking an arm/leg… and the lessons to be learned from that experience (like being careful or not touching a hot stove)… than an adult dropping a helpless baby due to a foul ball at a game from what may be pure stupidity or the pure selfishness of the unthinking “moment.”

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 6:56pmhe did not drop the baby…. and since we are in the world of hypothetical… a foul ball came very close to him and his child…. they move at 60-100 mph… you dont have much time to say ohh should i duck, move catch it… you just react…. quit being an arm chair general and sack up

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 7:48pmSMOKE. Based on your analysis he had enough time to react only one way eh? And that was to catch a foul ball, possbly endangering his child in the process with a knot on the noggin’ or worse.
Lol… my instinct/reaction would be to shield my child in that split second. Priorities dude… hypothetical or not. Back in the day before seatbelts and airbags, we old time drivers got used to extending our right arms out in front of the person in the passenger seat if we had to stop short or were involved in an accident. ‘Till this day I still have do it. Split second thinking and reaction.
These days I guess by your thinking… the foul ball catching instinct is the reactionary alternative to protecting a kid. Bravo dumb@ss.

Posted on July 4, 2012 at 8:40amLoved it. A man who is not afraid to risk his child getting hurt. That kid will grow up to be a man amoung men or a woman of conviction. Well unless the Dad allows the kid to have a participation trophy…sigh.
