Man Charged With Battery After Punching TSA Agent

A Connecticut man was arrested in Indianapolis on Wednesday for punching a TSA agent after submitting to a full body scan by one of the airports new x-ray imaging machines.

51-year-old John A. Christina was charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with the incident that happened at about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday at Indianapolis International Airport.

According to police, Christina admitted to punching the officer, 28-year-old Gregory J. Hutman of Ohio, after passing through the advanced imaging machine and asking the officer about increased security procedures, the Washington Post reports. When Hutman replied that he does not normally work in Indianapolis and could not answer the question, Christina punched him in the chest, police said.

Hutman, who’s usually assigned to the Dayton, Ohio, airport, asked Christina why he punched him.

“I was only kidding with you,” Christina replied.

It’s unclear from the police report if Christina was upset about the screening procedures or simply inquiring about them. According to the Indianapolis Star, the police report indicates that Christina has a history of medical issues, including two metal implants, a colostomy bag, and a fused right wrist.

Jim Fotenos, spokesman for the Transportation Security Agency, called the incident “shameful” in an airport police report: “Our transportation security officers work on the front lines to protect the nation from a terrorist attack and physical violence against them is shameful. TSA will work with local authorities to see that appropriate action is taken.”

John Gage, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, said TSA needs to better inform the general public about the new security procedures, but also said that the attack is part of a backlash fueled by the media.

“This absence of information has resulted in a backlash against the character and professionalism of TSOs based on a few widely reported but largely ill-founded claims repeated over and over again by the media,” Gage said. “Like all Americans, TSOs deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. These men and women are as the first line of defense against those who seek to harm this country.”

According to the Post, AFGE is hoping vying to become the only union representing TSA agents.

Let‘s see how our ’first defender’ TSA TSOs treat each other with “respect and dignity”:

“A TSA worker in Miami was arrested when he ”lost his mind” and attacked a colleague who repeatedly made fun of his small penis after the security screener walked through a high-tech scanner that showed his genitalia, according to Miami-Dade police.
Rolando Negrin, 44, was arrested at Miami International Airport Wednesday morning following an altercation with a fellow screener, Hugh Osorno, Tuesday evening. Negrin is facing assault charges for allegedly beating Osorno with a baton in the airport’s parking lot, NBC Miami reported.
Negrin had been embarrassed and enraged by constant ribbing from his colleagues after a training session with a “Whole Body Imaging” machine, according to the police affidavit.
“The X-ray revealed [Negrin] has a small penis and co-workers made fun of him on a daily basis,” according to the report.
Negrin showed up for work as usual Wednesday and can be seen in the uniform blue shirt and epaulets of the TSA in his booking photo. Osorno suffered abrasions on his back and arms from the attack, police said.

This is exactly the problem. Some of these guys are sick. We need to take the money they would have spent on all the rest of the machines and personnel and training and hire new CIA case officers and FBI agents. That WILL make us safer but all this only hurts us.

Most of the population is mindless and like cattle, will heard into those scanning machines and do any program that is belittling and humiliating because over the course have time, have come to be dependant on our governments plan of “making us safe”. I am amazed at the amount of stupid people who will subject their selves to that without question. The other side will be fed up with being humilated and molested and flip out which is what they want.
If people could have some gutts and stand up and not travel on planes for a while, we could break them as they would go bankrupt and it will be their own fault. We need to have PROFILING. It is that simple but for the sake of being politically correct, which is the stupid way of doing things Americans will end up getting what they deserve in time if they don’t have the backbone to refuse.

That does not solve the problem Cabo…the scanner is itself also an unreasonable intrusion. You cannot just cast aside the protections given in the 4th amendment of our constitution. If you do then be fully prepared to lose other protections. Boycotting the airlines is not a good response either. That will only serve to put more citizens out of work, hurt our economy and masks the true culprits here. It is not the airlines requiring these searches…it is the TSA, thru the DHS and ultimately the US government driving this.

The whole notion that the TSA even needs to exist. The whole notion that criminal looters in the Federal Government who plot communist revolution with enemies even have the Constitutional authority to sexual abuse citizens for fun and profit.

I don‘t mind funding things that make us safer but this won’t do it. Anyone can buy a pouch and conceal explosives in it whether it’s in their underwear or a foam/plastic suit used by Hollywood (you can buy them for ~$55 at Party City). That will not be picked up by the scanners. The liquid thing will not be stopped by the liquid ban nor the scanner.

These ops aren’t done by someone in their kitchen suddenly deciding they want to go blow something up that afternoon. There’s training, logistics, etc. that takes months to years to accomplish. the reason we haven’t been hit is because we have been interdicting these scum bags. THAT’S where the money needs to go. We don’t need 14,000 new IRS agents. We need 14,000 new FBI agents and 20,000 new assets at the CIA. Put that money where it will work and then let the people take care of the Richard Reeds (as we did). Better yet, allow the citizens to take an airplane security class and make the test as hard as you’d like (double what the marshals have to do). Let those of us that pass and have US CCWs carry on the plane with frangible ammo. Even suggesting that this has taken place will cause every terrorist to think twice about attacking planes ever again.

But the solution will always be at the Mosque. We have to stop those preaching hatred and mass murder, the ones who never get their hands dirty but can claim they were the ones behind X bomber. If we don’t understand that these men are murderers just like a mob boss ordering a hit and prosecute them accordingly, we’ll never stop this onslaught. When a mob boss in Italy orders the assasination of someone in Chicago, we prosecute them. It’s tough but we do it. Why are the Imams immune? Let’s go get them.

Does anywhere here actually read what the articles say before reaching for the keyboard with mindless response unrelated to the facts? The guy WAS NOT TOUCHED. He was not patted down. He simply, out of nowhere, struck someone.

Of course I‘ve seen over and over that there is nothing so despicable that it won’t be defended here (violence, pornography, whatever) as long as you agree politically. But jeez, at least read before responding. Here’s what happened according to the link:
      —–
According to police, John A. Christina, 51, admitted to punching the officer after passing through the machine and asking the officer about increased security procedures. The officer replied that he does not normally work in Indianapolis and could not answer the question.

Christina then punched the officer in the chest, police said.

I’ve been hearing that these TSA agents have even been sticking fingers into body orifices, now if I have to go through one of these “enhanced pat downs” and the TSA agent sticks a finger into my rectum he better be a doctor performing a prostate exam otherwise he will be waking up in a hospital ICU in a body cast.

If congress wants to do something USEFULL, “Ban this PERVERTED PROCESS” . This entire issue has NOTHING to do with security. It’s all about violating and changing the U.S CONSTITUTION ! ! !

What is the proper tip for a good grope?, and will the TSA agents be required to declare their tip income to the IRS?
