Occupy Salt Lake City demonstrators have been ordered to leave a Utah park after a man in his 40s was found dead inside a tent Friday morning.

Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank said the man appears to have died from a combination of carbon monoxide poisoning and a drug overdose sometime around 2 a.m, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

His body was discovered during a routine tent check, according to the newspaper. He has been identified as a member of the Occupy group but his name has not yet been released.

Protesters have until sunset on Saturday to clear out of Pioneer Park and nearby Gallivan Center or face arrest. They have been camping in both locations for weeks.

“We can no longer have individuals camping on our streets,” Burbank told Salt Lake City’s KSL-TV.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, police were seen retrieving a propane heater and what appeared to be drug paraphernalia from the victim’s tent as they gathered evidence Friday.

A police dispatcher said a 911 call from the park came in at 10:11 a.m. local time that someone appeared to be dead in a tent. Police arrived and confirmed the man had died.

Burbank said the existence of the protest camps had become a public safety issue, according to the newspaper, and he questioned whether the dead man would still be alive if he had not been camping.

“That possibility, of him still being here [alive] is something we can’t overlook,” Burbank said.

Protesters will still be allowed in the park during the daytime hours, though they have indicated they do not plan to leave Saturday as ordered, according to the Associated Press.

This is the third death to hit the Occupy Wall Street movement in less than 24 hours: A man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Occupy Burlington encampment in Vermont Thursday afternoon, and another man was shot dead near the Occupy Oakland encampment Thursday night.

OBAMA’S ARMY is everywhere. Though they take a few casualties they will overcome. Remember they can camp out in any city park anywhere in the country without a permit. Don’t try this with your family reunion. Or heaven forbid a boy scout troup. Then you will need 27 permits from every agency and several thousand $$$ in cold hard cash.

OBAMAVILLES are exempt from any and all government regulations even in SLC.

Take care you radical hate filled non-violent Tea Partiers the peaceniks from OBAMA’S ARMY will bury you.

Space heater. What kind of idiot puts a space heater in a small enclosed space?

      I mean, c’mon already. Really?

My teenaged son (currently working on his Eagle Scout rank) has more outdoor survival skill than the lot of these protestors combined, and I mean real outdoor survival, not camping out in a public park variety “survival”.

And….shhhh……don’t have your teenage son teach them city park survival skills. If these people are dumb enough or high enough to bed down on a cold night in a public park, protesting they know not what, with a space heater in their tent……….well, they made their bed, so to speak. (That’s a lot of commas in that there sentence. LOL)

I live in SLC and covered a union rally last winter (the support against Wisconsin Gov Walker rally). I was shocked that Utah has Unions (right to work state), Communists, Anarchists and a planned parenthood group.

youtube channel ANewMessage. I interviewed them and they didn’t care that there were communist revolutionaries and anarchists there. Also, the planned parenthood girl was cute…but she didn’t know a damend thing about abortion. Had a LOVELY “****** Warrior” hat on.

Not surprising when you’re a druggie. Propane heaters in a tent is not really the brightest idea. If the CO didn’t get to him, he could’ve still burnt the tent down. And those tents are not the place to be in a fire.

      @ JKJK,

Your idea of the perfect ticket has to be sarcasm. You want the new president to be a former speaker of the house who has proven he is not truly committed to individual Liberty and forcing the federal bureaucracy to stay within its constitutional boundaries and for the vice you’ve chosen a former federal reserve chairman. I won‘t even mention that he is a suspected sexual deviant because frankly I don’t think the accusations will pan out and even if he is, it doesn’t change his politics.

It is true that almost any politician would be better than Obama, but why settle? I’m voting Ron Paul whether you people like it or not.

What will it take …a bomb somewhere…so enough people are killed they have to do something about it..I don’t know of any place in our country where I can park my butt for two months and not be kicked out…you can plainly see the president and his administration are all for this…otherwise something would of been done long ago…after the first couple rapes, drug overdoses, or unruly mobs prohibiting innocent people with acts of violence. Very sad that they let this go on.

Also, he was found in a tent, which must also have been made by a corporation and sold for profit.

Probably had some views that were a ‘little too conservative’ for the tent mates. Sort of a ‘fraging’ of those they don’t see eye to eye with, you know? And that is sort of the problem with these kinds of “movements”, historically speaking. Subjective tribal criteria, not well known socially accepted rules applied equally and fairly across all situations. We have opted for a progressive justice system. Proportional to what you can pay for acquittal. And whether or not it was motivated for “social justice.”

They called the “Minutemen” vigilantes for using binoculars to help ID illegals crossing our borders. But inside the progressive movement, you can kill in the name of socialism without judgement if you are killing a conservative. Of course, “conservative” is a subjective term. You determine wha’t too much.
