Man Hid Mother’s Dead Body in Couch For Years to Collect Her Social Security Checks

Investigators believe a 67-year-old man concealed his mother’s decomposing body at their home in rural northwestern Wisconsin for years so he could continue to receive her $1,100 monthly social security checks.

Deputies went to the house in Washburn County in June after a postal worker contacted authorities because mail had not been collected. WQOW-TV reported Wednesday that they found Michael Egan’s body on a bedroom floor. He had been dead for more than a week.

Cadaver dogs later found the remains of his mother, Elizabeth, on a couch under rags, sleeping bags and plastic.

Investigators don’t know how long Elizabeth Egan had been dead but say she was last seen in 2005 when she was 95 years old.

The Associated Press contributed to this article.

      You are very wrong.
There is no such thing as a liberal Christian. That is an oxymoron. Just like the story of a lesbian pastor. If you believe that these are followers of Christ you are only part right. Paul warned true followers of Jesus, in Corinth, to beware of those that preach of another jesus, just like you.

hey divided states. One of the investigators sat down on a fuzzy throw pillow only to find out it was the old bats ****** that had broken off of the body. He looked at it and said hey all the stuffings coming out of this throw pillow. As he reached inside it and threw what he thought was foam at his partner something bit his hand, it was a rat who had made a den inside her hair pie. harharhar.

About 6 years ago Lenny moved out of granny’s house and asked his brother Bobby to watch over her, the cat, house, get granny’s mail and deposit her SS check for her. About a week later, Lenny calls home and asks Bobby “How’s my cat?”.

Bobby hesitated and sadly told Lenny his cat died.

“What?! You shouldn’t have broke the news to me like that! You should have done it slowly. The first time I called, you should have told me he was on the roof. The second time I called, you should have said there was no way to get him down. The third time I called, you should have told me that you tried to get the cat off the roof, but she fell off and died,” explained Lenny.

Bobby apologized and went about his day.

About a week later, Lenny called again and asked “How’s Granny?”.

There was a long silence and then Bobby replied. “Well, she’s on the roof.”

It‘s not that I don’t agree, it’s just how do you police such a situation like this. As soon as a person reaches say, 80 years, the government gives them a call once a year to make sure they are still alive?

“Hello there, Granny Maybel, just your yearly check to see if you’ve kicked the bucket yet so we can stop sending you that check.”

This guy deliberately deceived the system. And there is one thing about bad guys which never changes- as soon as you create regulations to counter their deceit and thievery, they will develop new ways to deceive and and steal.

Yearly face to face meetings, people come in on their own, pay them extra $100, they make you come see them, no extra $100, do neither, removed from system. Mississippi started doing this, and close to 1/3 of those apparently were fraudulent the system, because they chose to have themselves removed, rather than come in, or let someone stop by.

This should bring about more Social Security reform that additional security measures should be taken to ensure that checks are most likely going to the right person, especially after they reach the average life expectancy. It took them this long to realize that this woman they’re sending checks to would be 101 years old.

Actually, there is no need to assume how to have eternal life, we are told that in no uncertain terms. You either believe or you don’t. I would not presume to assume whether either or both of these folks were born again though. Only Christ can be the judge of that. Not just SS fraud, but fraud in the tune of billions of dollars. In fact there has been a whole list of billions of dollars of taxpayer money wasted in fraud schemes that are still going on. It sits on a senator’s desk in Washington and has the potential of saving taxpayers billions of dollars. The list includes duplicate programs, outrageous salaries and project funded by taxpayers. Unfortunately, the congress and BO just haven’t been able to find the time to call hearings on these frauds and defund them. Meanwhile congress and BO get a good tan on their vacation. They could give a crap that seniors and middle class taxpayers have lost trillions of dollars from 401K’s and other investments.
