Man Killed in Hollywood Shooting Spree Was Music Producer Working on Christian-Themed Movie

Man Killed in Hollywood Shooting Was Working on Christian Themed Movie

The man shot in the face while driving in Hollywood last Friday morning succumbed to his injuries Monday. Since victim John Atterberry’s death, new details have come out about his life. Atterberry was shot by 26-year-old Tyler Brehm who, following a hard break up went to a Hollywood intersection in broad daylight Friday morning and opened fire on random cars before being fatally shot by an off-duty police officer. According to the  Hollywood Reporter, Atterberry was a music producer, and at the time of his shooting was working on a Christian-themed movie about spiritual awakening:

“At the time of his death, Atterberry, 40, was working on completing the independent film God’s Country, which he co-wrote and produced. The film tells the story of an ambitious real estate executive who is neglectful of her mother but goes through a spiritual transformation while trying to close a lucrative deal.”

The film’s star told THR that the movie is about “stopping and recognizing how important family is and how we can take family for granted.”

The Los Angeles Times reports that Atterberry was a L.A. native  who got his start at Tabu Records, and was serving as a senior partner and chief financial officer for the GridLock Group. According to the Times, early in Atterberry’s career he was a vice president of Death Row Records, which at the time was home to Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. He later worked on albums by Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson, Brandy, the Spice Girls and Jessica Simpson.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street, where Atterberry was shot three times in the face and neck in his Mercedes-Benz by the gunman, later identified by authorities as 26-year-old Tyler Brehm.

“I do not understand now nor will I ever is why such a senseless act of violence was inflicted upon such a GOD-fearing, kind, compassionate, loving individual,”  sister Cynthia Atterberry said in a posting on Facebook after her brother died Monday.

One witness told KTLA that while shooting, Brehm was screaming “Allahu Akbar.”

THR Photo Editor Chris Godley was grazed by a bullet in the same incident.

This morning a friend of mine that lives in Eastern Pa sent me a message asking me to pray for Tyler’s family who she knows personally. She said that they are really great people and are also suffering the loss of their son as well as what he did before he was shot. So I ask that when you hear any story such as this, remember the victims, all of them, in your prayers. May God Bless the family of every victim and give them the strength to get through this horrible situation.

I think what you should be arguing about is the significance of the Media failing to cover that he said Allahu Akbar as he was shooting, and also the drug angle. What exactly were this young man’s “humanitarian” efforts, as per his girlfriend?

We are losing focus and should ignore El Fluffness, he/she just wants to inflame with words that hold no water. I made my one response to him/her directly and no more. He/she is like Eliasim; serious mental issues.

God be with this mans family and please God take him in your arms and bless him for eternity.

Also, deal with his killer as you deem fit Lord.

How is this sad? I thought you lot all wanted to go to Heaven. This is his chance. If Christians had any conviction in their alleged beliefs, this would be happy news. You should all be doing a little Snoopy dance because one of the faithful has been called home.

AND the cops whacked the shooter, so everyone involved gets to go to their respective Valhalla. This is really a win/win for the zealot class.

@57states – An interesting thing happened when Jesus was arrested. Right after we read about the soldier getting his ear cut off and Jesus does a little preachifyin’ to the disciples, this is what happens:

Mark: 14:50 And they all forsook him, and fled.
14:51 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
14:52 And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

Why would Jesus have a naked man chasing him with such devotion after his chosen disciples fled? For that matter, what on earth is your lying savior doing hanging out with naked men? Why is Mark so afraid to say who the young man is? It sounds like Jesus was knocking sandals with a “certain young man” who grabbed a loincloth to cover himself when they got busted. It sounds like Jesus was your **** and Mark helped to cover it up…

      Fluffy,

That’s the most idiotic statement I have ever heard. The young man was Mark himself, at that time younger than 15 (because he did not have to have a fishing license or pay tax). Also, as a disciple, the followers of Jesus renounced fine clothing, generally only wearing robe. No walmarts to go buy hanes.

He ran because a mob took hold of him (check a few verses up: “43 Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was *a crowd armed with swords and clubs,* sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.”).

So generally speaking, when a mob of armed men grab a kid, the kid is scared and runs. Nothing sinister or sexual. Are you so perverted that you can’t see the obvious explanation? Or are you so ignorant that you haven’t read the actual passage to know what you are talking about?

Mama: Stay in denial all you want. I know that you feel the need to defend your belief. By all mans show me that exact passage that backs up your claim that the “certain young man” was Mark. I would be delighted to see you back that up with actual scripture. If you can’t provide me with chapter and verse on that then I maintaing that the Jeez was a poofter.

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and in the end, all that will matter is Jesus. I will pray that God will touch your heart before then. Jesus was all about praying for poor souls like you. Sad that you do not realize the blessings God has for you. All you have to do is believe. Makes no difference who you are.

It is sad for the family and friends who will miss him. We Christians know he is in God’s hands and safe from this world, but that does not take away the sadness of missing someone you love. You seem to have a problem with that feeling. That makes me sad for you!

This Muslim terrorist guy was probably only part of the murder of this guy. The Satanists running both the Mainstream Music Industry and Hollywood regularly execute anyone who has a significant following in either enterprise but who refuses to encourage Satanic themes and stuff into their products and who especially those who promote Christ.

    Atterberry?? “Christian music”??? WTF????

Death Row Records produced Dr. Dre, Tupak Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Das Dillinger, and numerous other punks whose so-called “music” celebrated the gangsta lifestyle with songs pushing Escalades, Cristal, Bling, Meth, Coke, Hos, and the 9mm lifestyle. God only knows how many east LA punks who bought into this gangsta lifestyle crap were murdered cuz they dissed some equally unintelligent moron ’bout who be da man. Atterberry’s answering to God right now, and he‘s doin’ some serious splainin’ ’bout dat muh-fuggin boosheet he been pushin‘ on dem po boys who don’t know no bettah.

If you wonder why people think Blazers and Tea Partyers are racist, you only have to look at the above comment.

So apparently it’s OK for conservative musicians to sing about Second Amendment rights but it is not OK for a rapper to rap about guns. Or, is it just that you have a problem with the skin color of one of the artists?

If Atterberry’s sins are covered by the Blood of the Lamb, he is probably lieing on his face in front of God, thanking Him for His Goodness. Any ‘splainin he had to do was done when he accepted the Gift of Great Price, and the payment for OUR SINS through the Blood of the Son.

If you haven’t come to this point, think about it! It IS the Christ Mass season, the time we celebrate and rejoice that God sent His Son, The Word, to earth that we might, “Know the Father,“ to ”Seek and to Save all that were lost,“ and to those promises that we will ”Live forever in His presence”! Alleluia!

No there is not, actually. You like your guns, rappers like their guns. Both fall under gun rights. If you have a problem with rappers and their guns, why don’t you have a problem with country musicians like Johnny Cash singing about shooting people?

I don’t think he was singled out either–at least not by the loser who shot him. By Satan, maybe — and fools like the late Brehm are certainly tools for evil to use. I think he (the loony toon shooter) just wanted to stand out in the intersection and kill as many people as he could before somebody shot him or ran him down with their car to avoid being shot themselves.. Typical irrational/homocidal Muslim behavior.
