Man Stabs Computer With Sword Before Police Can Search It for Child Pornography

Florida Man Under Investigation for Child Pornography Stabs Computer With Samurai Sword

When FBI agents entered a Florida man’s home with a search warrant in their investigation for alleged child pornography, he man made a move to destroy the evidence in a most unconventional way. Kamil Mezalka, a 21-year-old from the Palm Coast, stabbed his computer with a Samurai sword.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports he has since been arrested and could face federal charges for downloading child pornography. If convicted of these charges, he could be sentenced to five and 20 years in prison. Here‘s more on what took place during the search of Mezalka’s Flagler County home earlier this week:

According to a federal affidavit, agents obtained a search warrant Tuesday for the man’s Lansdowne Lane home and entered the residence after nobody answered the door.

After agents made their way into the house, Mezalka came out of a second-floor bedroom with his hands up, then went back in and closed the door, the affidavit shows. Agents followed him into the room and found him in his underwear and observed him stab the console of his computer before taking him into custody, according to the affidavit.

The News-Journal goes on to report the affidavit noting Mezalka said in his interview with federal agents that he “might have” downloaded pornography depicting girls age 13 and younger. Even with the stabbed computer and other devices found in the house, the agents collected hundreds of images with child porn.

This same samurai sword that Mezalka wielded to try and destroy evidence of his illegal activities was used only a month ago in a valiant act of defense for his mother against his stepfather. CFNews 13 reported Mezalka heard his mother calling for help from the master bedroom in April. Armed with the 2-foot-long sword, he kicked down the door and was able to remove his mother from her husband who had choked her and threatened her with a gun. The stepfather was charged with battery and assault with a deadly weapon.

    Rather than stab it with a sword, he should have taken out the HD and thrown it in the microwave. Pretty sure that destroys everything on the drive.

      Actually, it is still possible to retrieve information off of a HD after doing many extreme things to it as long as the person searching has the right tools.

    Stabbing a computer in order to prevent the HD from being searched… I don’t think it works that way.

    But, he’s a pedo, so screw him anyway. May he burn in Hell, even with the defense of his mother.

      Just a fact here anyone can have child porn on their computer whether they looked at it or not by the recent NY case ever hear of clickjacking or redirecting to sites that host child porn and the only way to stop it is reboot or shutdown it is all stored in the cache wheather you want it or not. NY case was just that.

      If he hit the HDD and pierced the cover he could have damaged the aluminum platter inside. Also, all laptops with SATA HDD’s have glass platters and shatter eaisly. The coating on the platters are Iron Oxide so you know what a little Phosphoric Acid would do to the data.

      But, as you said, screw him, burn in hell.

      I always get a laugh at the Hollywood movies where someone puts a bullet in a computer or the CRT to get rid of data. I know most all makes and models of computers and I’ve never seen Hollywood put a bullet were the HDD is located. : )

    They are muslim. Girls are of similar age but they were having sex with them. It is my guess the girls were not muslim. It is ok for a muslim man to have sex with non muslim. It isn’t sex. Is it ok for muslim man to view child porn if the child isn’t muslim? That is a good question to ask and expect to get a direct answer. That is such a rediculous question is not an answer. You could’t answer that way on a law exam or in a court of law or before God. You know in Saudi Arabia they burned girls alive in school because they wouldn’t let them show their faces. So my guess is it would be ok for them.

    I want to know how they establish age from photos? I know girls that LOOK 13 but are 25, and I know some that are 13 but LOOK 25. We live in a messed up world. Here is my take on the whole thing. Someone somewhere, 1.finds girls that are or look underage. 2. They film the girls and may or may not call them some descriptive name to lure in the perverts. The perverts being perverts do what perverts do. They request the ‘image/vid’. Their internet provider, gets the image and sends it along to their customer, the Customer views it, and then gets arrested for (possession,transmitting,receiving porn.) Now it can be truthfully argued this is odd behavior, in today’s society. But how it is that the ENDUSER of the Product is made the criminal? Why aren’t the film makers treated the same? Why aren‘t the internet providers at fault for ’transmitting’? Why only the poor sap at the end of the food chain who is the target of ……both the film maker AND the crime makers called the police?

      I worked in computer forensics. Even it he had stabbed it through the middle of the hard drive, you could still get most of the data off of it.

      SH3 – a katana will only damage a drive unit; if he scored a accurate enough cut, even then the data is recoverable by those who know how to do it. The guy probably would have been better off performing sepuku.

      When we destroy drives we take a screw driver place it over the platters on the outside of the drive and give the screw driver a healthy blow with a hammer. I am sorry but when the platters are shattered into thousands of pieces there is very slim chance data is coming off. Something might come off the fragments but how much time is willing to be spent on that?

      SQUIDVETOHIO, you can torch a computer tower down to a lump of plastic, and a good computer forensics technologist can still use his expertise to pull data up out of it. There is a whole, wide-open field of young people learning how to do just that. And that fool thought he could “kill” his computer by stabbing it with a sword? Sounds like another dumba$$, ignorant Florida hick to me. The country is infested with morons like that.
