A self-exiled Russian man who once had himself crucified in the name of artistic freedom is now is staging another controversial stunt: he’s hooked himself up to an electric chair and is letting online voters shock him.
Oleg Mavromatti is once again hoping to draw attention to what he calls censorship issues in Russia. “This is a test about how society interprets freedom,” he told the English-speaking Russian news outlet RT, “do they want to use it to save or to kill?”

Posted on November 9, 2010 at 1:26amThe “journalist” presenting the story should look up the meaning of electrocute.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 6:57pmCrazy or not… The question of “what would people do?” is a valid one, however, it is skewed from the start because this man is demonstrating attention seeking behavior. Any one that goes through the effort of voting must make a judgment, “which do I value more – The feelings of someone who invites their own harm or death, or my own entertainment?” Most, who would participate in such a thing, would opt for the latter. And fitting the situation, we all say, “Zap the crazy A## H###!!”

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 4:27pmAs someone who spent years in the art department of a college, I was exposed people pushing the boundaries of “what is art”. In the U.S. we have freedom of expression. But I also have the freedom to express my opinion…and my opinion is, “that guy is an idiot”.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 2:31pmI am not really sure what to make of him. Is he actually an intellectual who knows exactly what he is doing, or is he just completely out of his freaking mind ?

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:51pmI wish we could hook this up to every person in Congress to help control their spending decisions. Seriously this guy is a kook. He shouldn’t be allowed publicity.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:11pmQueer how he picked Bulgaria to flee to. The political powers (not the people voting) in Sofia became one of the first along with Albania to declare itself an atheist state. Denegrate someone’s religious belief, then flee to a self professed atheist state for protection. “Let the devil protect him in Hell”, strange axiom of life.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 1:10pmThe title of this story is incorrect. The word “electrocute” refers to death by electricity. He is only allowing himself to be “shocked”, not “electrocuted”.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 10:59amMy first reaction was: Really? This is what we’ve come to? As I think on it I will concede that he has a point, but he has a convoluted way of making it. One cannot deny that he is a “true believer” of his point of view. If not then he is truly nuts.

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 9:23amThis link was provided by blazer Grandmaof5 yesterday, it allows people to grade the congress and make contact with them. It is an interesting sight, while we cannot obviously electrocute them, this can help put pressure on each one to make the changes we need for the nations restoration.

Yeah he is a moron who insulted alot of people with the crucifiction thing , but not a good excuse to do physical harm to him.
