Man Who Stabbed, Raped Lesbian Couple Claims ‘I Was Told By My God…to Attack My Enemies’

Man Who Stabbed, Raped Lesbian Couple Claims I Was Told By My God...to Attack My EnemiesSEATTLE (AP) — A man wearing a shock sleeve to control outbursts and hand mitts to prevent him from stuffing dangerous items into his mouth testified Wednesday that he committed the horrific rape and stabbing of a lesbian couple in Seattle two summers ago.

“I was there and I was told by my God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to attack my enemies, and I did so,” Isaiah Kalebu said under questioning by one of his lawyers.

Closing arguments in the case were presented later in the day, and a jury began deliberations before adjourning until Thursday.

The trial started three weeks ago, but the testimony was the first time jurors had seen Kalebu, who was previously so disruptive in court that the judge barred him from attending.

He watched the trial via closed circuit television from another courtroom before indicating he wanted to exercise his constitutional right to testify in his own defense.

He was wheeled into court in restraints, wearing an electroshock sleeve, a yellow shirt and dark tie, and the oversized white mitts. He recently was hospitalized after swallowing a small pencil.

Prison guards stood by ready to activate the Taser-like sleeve in case Kalebu acted out, but he remained docile. The courtroom had been rearranged to prevent jurors from seeing his restraints.

Kalebu, 25, testified while sitting at the defense table, and even remained sitting while the jurors filed in – usually everyone in the courtroom must rise. He kept his hands by his lap as he was sworn in.

He answered only two questions on the stand: One about whether he knew about the events, and another about whether he’d been diagnosed with mental illnesses. He answered the latter affirmatively as prosecutors objected on hearsay grounds.

Kalebu is accused of slipping in an open window of the couple‘s home in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood and repeatedly raping and stabbing them during a two-hour attack. One woman, Teresa Butz, died naked and blood-soaked in the street in front of her home as neighbors tried to help. Her partner survived and told the jury that Kalebu was the man who did it.

He’s also suspected in an arson that killed his aunt and one of her tenants in Pierce County, south of Seattle, but has not been charged in that case due to a lack of forensic evidence.

Kalebu is not pursuing any type of mental-health defense. His lawyers, Michael Schwartz and Ramona Brandes, have argued that he didn’t commit the crime – a contention prosecutors say is disproved by DNA evidence and witnesses.

Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty due to Kalebu’s history of mental illness. Experts have found that although he might suffer from bipolar disorder, he has been faking or exaggerating the symptoms. In January, he was found competent to stand trial.

If he’s convicted, he could face life in prison with no opportunity for release.

      Argumentumadabsurdum,
In none of the passages you listed does God command/prescribe men to rape women.
God permitting a man to marry a woman, even a woman taken captive after a war, does not imply God commanding rape, or even making rape morally permissible.
What you are saying does not logically follow:
“If you married someone who brought you by force into a land upon returning to his from home from war, then he must have eventually had forced sex with you.”
Besides being illogical, you don’t even take into account what Scripture does say in the passages you listed; God clearly says that such women to be desired of as wives although made prisoners of war, are not to be mistreated.
If they shall not be mistreated so as to be sold for money or even as a spouse, then how much more by God’s commandment shall they not be mistreated unto forced sex? (Deuteronomy 21:13-14).
Now you may not like that God says that women part of the losing/non-victorious community in a just war deserve to be taken prisoner, but that doesn’t mean you by pure self-assertion get to introduce evidence and just by arbitrary and illogical prejudice say that God commanded the prisoners to be mistreated and raped.
When trying to reduce arguments to absurdity, truth telling and logical consistency without employing straw-arguments that modify what the Bible actually says is still a requirement for all, even for unbelievers against Jesus Christ trying to find some excuse for their unbelief.

      Pigpen,
Deuteronomy 21:10-14 says nothing about rape being morally permissible before God.
It talks about the conditions of marrying a woman after returning home from a war (v.10) who was in that community recently warred against. Such conditions include giving her a month to mourn for her absence from her father and mother (v.13) before consummating a marriage, where she also as a spouse “leaves [her] father and mother and become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24)” with her husband.
This passage also says that you shall not sell her for money or even mistreat her (v.14).
If he shall not mistreat her by selling her as a captive for money, then how much more shall he not rape her?
You may not like God, but that doesn‘t mean it’s logically or morally valid for you to change what the Bible says, saying that His Word given through Moses in Deuteronomy says that marriage implies rape.
But, then again, as long as you in your unbelief disobey God’s command to love Him with all your heart/mind (Deut 6:5; Matthew 22:37), then it would make sense that you would deceive yourself into thinking that you don’t have to follow any of His other commands–even “You shall not bear false witness,” which is also in Deuteronomy (5:20).
Sorry, but with your irrational/foolish assault on Scripture, there is obviously still no excuse for your rebellion against God as you suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18-20), including the unrighteousness of lying in your false accusation ag

also on a side note, please interpret Deuteronomy more correctly as it does not call for the rape of women rather the soldiers were allowed to marry the women of the country they conquered. There were strict laws against adultery (thou shalt not commit adultery…etc) so any passage u deem as contrary to that should be reviewed, as the law cannot contradict itself.

      Deuteronomy 21:10-14

      Marrying a Captive Woman

10 When you go to war against your enemies and the LORD your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, 11 if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her, you may take her as your wife. 12 Bring her into your home and have her shave her head, trim her nails 13 and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. 14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

Funny how people try to distort what the bible says by confusing the King James Version. It’s simply because we communicate differently now days, making it harder to understand.

This passage in no way says you should rape a captive woman. It says you can help her, taking her out of captivity, and bringing her into your home. Then cleaning her up, and letting her mourn before going to her to become her husband (Offering to take care of her the rest of her life).

“14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.”

(This would be her denying him as a husband)

Still, in no way does God say you can rape her! Don’t get it twisted..

      @ PigPen,
Don’t take Deuteronomy 21:10-14 out of it’s historical and cultural context. I can’t stomach people who take snippets of Scripture, twist them to their own likings to serve their own goals.

Let’s look at Deuteronomy 21:10-14 in it’s historical context:
Deuteronomy 21:10″When you go out to war against your enemies, and the LORD your God gives them into your hand and you take them captive, 11 and you see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you desire to take her to be your wife, 12 and you bring her home to your house, she shall shave her head and pare her nails. 13 And she shall take off the clothes in which she was captured and shall remain in your house and lament her father and her mother a full month. After that you may go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife. 14 But if you no longer delight in her, you shall let her go where she wants. But you shall not sell her for money, nor shall you treat her as a slave, since you have humiliated her.

OK, if you noticed, the Israelite, if he took a woman captive, had to wait a month before he lived with her, and if he wasn’t happy with her, he had to let her go free, he could not sell her into slavery (or as you, PigPen, put it… human trafficking)…. continued in next reply…

      continued:

Deuteronomy 7:1-4 (to get the whole context), the Israelites were forbidden to marry a woman captive of one of seven nations: the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. The law in Deuteronomy 21 applies to any other nation. So the Israelites were forbidden to intermarry with the nations they were supposed to be expelling from Canaan, but once that occupation was accomplished they could marry captives of other nations, such as the Philistines and the Moabites. Thus, it was not wrong for Boaz to marry Ruth the Moabitess (Book of Ruth), because she was not from one of the forbidden nations.

Oh, and PIgPen… it wasn’t rape. Don’t take Scripture out of context.

As for this lunatic in Seattle… he’s a Muslim, who follows Islam, and Islam does allow rape of the Infidels.

Thanks for reminding me what a tyrannical bully the God of the Old testament was. The fact that you, a Christian, justifies this hate crime with Bible verses makes me glad I am not a Christian.

LOL! I’m not a Christian either, I’m Jewish. And if you understood the Scriptures, you wouldn’t be taking them out of context to to fit your liberal twisted ideology.

That‘s Satan’s words not God’s words. God wouldn‘t want you to harm your fellow man because of disagreements even if they go against the bible’s teachings.

      @JediUseTheForce:
You know, a lot of “good Conservatives” on here have been saying how no one on The Blaze wishes LGBT people ill, or to be attacked, or to be killed, no matter how much the commenters may “disagree” with their “lifestyle”. Thank you for being my perfect counter example.

Here’s a bit of data analysis I would love to see someone do.

Survey all of the articles on The Blaze that have LGBT themes. For simplicity’s sake, limit it to 2011 articles.

Then, survey the comments left under those articles for sentiments wishing violence and/or death to LGBT people.

I’m willing to bet the proportion of articles where some ultra-violent right-wing @$$h01ε wishes for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people to be slandered, beaten, raped, robbed, and/or murdered to those articles where they don’t one-to-one.

In general, your average right-winger has a huge moral and ethical blind spot where non-heterosexual people or activity or information is concerned.

Maybe our “moral and ethical” blind spot is due to the fact that adultery, homosexuality, sodomy, etc. are sinful acts.

Now, many of us are guilty of adultery… “Whoseover looks at a women in a lustful manner is guilty of adultery.”

Who is this god that tells people to rape and kill other people? Definitely not the same god whose greatest commandment is to “love one another”.

      Dissentnow,
Posting these verses is only logically relevant to your argument if you can show that those who are kept alive shall be raped by God’s command. Since the Bible does not uphold rape or any form of lawless sex outside of marriage between a consenting man and woman; you will only be able to fallaciously say that because God allowed some post-war female prisoners to eventually be married, then they must have been raped.
Rather, these verses show that God commanded Israel to make a distinction between who deserves to die and who doesn’t deserve to die in holy war against the Midianites. They do not make a distinction between who deserves to be raped and who doesn’t deserve to be raped as you imply.
Also, now that the gospel of the Messiah of Israel has gone out to all nations, there is no holy war other than the metaphor of warring against unbelieving speculations (like the one you just raised) through reason by speaking the truth in love (2 Corinthians 10:3-5; John 18:36) and the punishment of excommunication for the unrepentant (2 Cor 10:6; Matthew 18:15-17)–this is the “faith to contend for that now been revealed” “ONCE FOR ALL” since the preaching of Christ’s gospel (Jude 1:3). Choosing to dissent from the Truth of the only infinitely wise God that has been revealed once and for all is choosing to dissent in foolishness; hence, the illogical (logically fallacious/irrelevant) case you rebelliously raised against true Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:18-20,30).

      Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

That’s either Judiasim or Christianity. If it was Islam it would have been Abraham and Ishmael. Read the bible folks. God made his covenant with Abraham and Isaac and did not make his covenant with Ishmael the son of Abraham and Hagar who lived to oppose everyone in his path.

This killer claims that God told him to kill, we all know that he is delusional because God isn’t telling anyone to rape and kill lesbians. Take the God aspect out of the story and you just have an evil act perpetrated by a twisted individual.

muslims’ god IS satan. mohammed is proof of that. if a prophet of god is a hater, murderer, and a pedophile, his god MUST be, by definition, satan. and that IS mohammed. he WAS a murderer, hater, and pedophile and therefore mohammed is evil, his god is the devil and all those who follow him are devil worshipers, period, end of story. get real people before they enslave you.

Why don’t you post these Biblical passages as well?

You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

      1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

      2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)

A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus 21:9 NAB)

Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

One day a man who had an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father got into a fight with one of the Israelite men. During the fight, this son of an Israelite woman blasphemed the LORD’s name. So the man was brought to Moses for judgment. His mother’s name was Shelomith. She was the daughter of Dibri of the tribe of D
