Man With Concealed Handgun License Stops Vicious Stabbing Outside Texas School

A man with a concealed handgun license was able to stop a brutal stabbing that took place outside of a school in San Antonio, Texas.

The attack occurred at around 10 a.m. Tuesday outside of the Bonham Academy, WOAI reports. Teresa Barron, 38, had just dropped her child off at school when the kid’s dad showed up, prompting a heated argument. The child’s dad, identified as Roberto Barron allegedly pulled a knife and began stabbing Teresa in the upper body and neck several times.

After witnessing the assault, a quick-thinking bystander with a concealed handgun license drew his gun and ordered Roberto Barron to drop the knife. The father complied and surrendered and was taken into custody by the good Samaritan and a school district officer.

WOAI has more details:

According to court documents, Teresa Barron filed for divorce from her husband Roberto back on August 22nd. The documents also showed Barron filed for a temporary restraining order. A hearing was scheduled for this Friday, August 31st, but Tuesdays incident changed everything.

Police said Barron stabbed his wife several times after an argument outside the school their daughter attended.

“We are all real saddened about the situation, and we were all very hurt to find out what had happened, “a Bonham Academy parent said.

Teresa Barron was in critical condition Wednesday morning at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. Meanwhile, Roberto sits in a jail cell on a $300,000 bond — increased from $150,000 — and is charged with aggravated assault. According to court records, the couple has been married since 1994.

    Ok. I’ve watched the video of the news broadcast three time just to make sure. There is NO mention of how the stabbing was disrupted, no mention of the good Samaritan, no mention of the use of a hand gun for good reason. The credit the school for “taking action”??? Gee we wouldn’t want to let honest citizens know how to prevent or stop crime would we. No sense giving them an example of how to protect yourself or others.

      There’s a great article on Pajamas Media that details multiple incidents where gun carriers (concealed and otherwise) stopped crimes and the media intentionally miss-reported the facts.

      In at least one case, an editor was later quoted as saying he didn’t want to encourage more “gun violence” by citing the fact that a CCW carrier helped stop a crime. The twisted logic of Progressive Socialists.

      If you pull it, you USE it…no warning shots, no “freeze!” …I’m glad he stopped the attack…but with that restraint he could have been killed…and/or the woman as well.

      In Texas you have a 20 year old on the run (skipped bail) after receiving a 99 year sentance for participating in multiple rapes of an 11 year old girl. Can you guess what he’s going to be doing between now and getting caught? Do you think the woman in the above story might wake up dead if her attacker gets out on bail…thanks to Mr. “Stop right there and drop the knife” good samaritan?

      Good for him! Thanks for intervening! I had a female friend die when her ex stabbed her in the back with a 10″ butcher knife and broke off the handle.The Doctors said she might have lived if he didn’t break off the handle. Very sad….

      It seems the handgun licensee captured and held the suspect after the stabbing had occurred. There are incredible numbers of removable subjects among the masses….Let’s hope the next Administration takes a more conservative approach to Public Safety and re-opens the Asylum system. Already in place are the Comrades skilled and licensed to recommend retention of the dangerous, undesirable subjects within our society.

      Obviously the regime doesn’t want to report the legitimate use of weapons.
      This would go against there “all guns are bad” and we must disarm the populous message.
      The lefts unholy message of gun control is not to protect the public, but to disarm the public.
      They could give a sh** less about you and me.
      They know that this cannot be accomplished over night but with relentless pressure, the Democrats will try to bring us to the point of absolute gun restriction.
      If this happens only the criminals and the government will be armed.
      I have been carrying concealed for 7 years; open carrying for the last year.
      Fortunately the state of Minnesota allows open carry for permit holders.
      This means you can openly carry a pistol on your belt.
      I have been asked a couple of times about the pistol on my hip and have been asked to leave a couple of businesses.
      I am always pleased to answerer all questions and when asked to leave, I do so immediately.
      The people I have talked to usually understand my thinking that I am not a threat to them but I will not be a target of thugs who wish to violate me or those around me.
      By simply doing this I have turned several middle of the road people into people that ask me how to become permit holders.
      We must all be ambassadors of self defense.

    Gosh, I cant understand how this happened? She had an active restraining order against him! I guess criminals don’t pay any attention to the law or lawful orders. I wonder, I may be stretching it here, if this is the case for criminal flaunting GUN LAWS? Seriously, if one chooses to get involved in a case like this one has to be ready to use deadly force so know your state’s laws and restrictions on the use of deadly force.

      Had this occured in the Northeast, the CCW carrier would have been tased, beaten, fined, and jailed. The crazy knife-wielding husband would have been remanded to counseling. You would never have even heard the story.

      I bet he’d not have attacked her if she did have the restraining order- everyone knows knives won’t go through paper. Besides, she could have told him to wait- she has aids, or is a mother, or yelled fire or blown a whistle… or wait until a cop shows up. Gee, why’d the guy have to pull a gun? He must be a radical GOP supporter and probably a member of that racist NRA club. I bet he even dreams of being John Wayne when he naps…

      Nevada is just as stupid…. within 1000 feet of any school you cannot carry a gun, even with a CCW permit. It is mind-boggling to me that we want every freak criminal to know that our kids are in a completely gun-free zone.

    It had NOTHING to do with him having a license! It was stopped becuase he had a GUN!

    I dont need a license to exercise my 1st amendment right so why do I need one to exersize my 2nd amendment rights?

      That’s an excellent point, KEA. I was just thinking that through yesterday.

      I’ve been reading several recent articles on Mises.org regarding the licensing of doctors and lawyers. Both of those things are relatively recent phenomena. Quality hasn’t gone up, either.

      Consider the number of crappy drivers on the road. Next time you’re driving, think about the distance most drivers keep between them and the car ahead (usually less than a full car length when it should be multiple car lengths). Licensing drivers hasn’t made the roads safer. The experience of getting your license isn’t a good one by any stretch of the imagination. I wonder why we even bother.

      And then I realize how much easier it is for the government to control you. It also conditions you to the idea that you must have a license to do….what? Drive on the road? We don’t license pedestrians or bicycles. They use the roads and we have rules about yielding to them.

      How many people follow the speed limits or safe distance requirements (there are requirements, it’s called tailgating)? If the cops aren’t really enforcing these things, what’s the point? Several states tried to change your license number to your Socialist Security number, and the courts had to force them to give you the alternative. Think about it.

      You have a point, right now it is supposed to keep criminals from getting guns by making people have a license to carry. I say supposed to for reasons like Colorado sometimes they need to check into a person farther, that and criminals don’t get them legally anyway.

      While the point you make is valid, the title is still accurate and I think its important to point out that CHL holders do provide a benefit to the non-carrying public. In Texas its legal to have a gun in your car without a permit, assuming you can legally own the gun, so this could have went down without a permit.

    I just received my Permit to Carry today in the mail. After the Aurora shooting, the wife finally agreed that it is a good idea to be armed when out and about. But here, the carry permit requires the holder to flee first and only use the weapon when your life or others is in jeopardy. But it will be nice to have my weapon with me when traveling around this state.

      “Castle Doctrine/Law” provides that an individual has no duty to retreat before using deadly force if they are in their home, their workplace, protecting a child or protecting a family member. “Stand Your Ground Doctrine/law.” states one has no duty to retreat, regardless of where attack takes place.

      It’s a good idea for Every gun enthusiest to get a concealed permit. The training is useful to reduce your risk of getting into a real jam with the law and it promotes safety. I also recommend checking http://www.handgunlaw.us/ before you travel (or even leave your house) with a gun.

      That depends on the State Skeeter. Many of the Northeastern states shoved a duty to retreat like a coward into the books. You have to run like a girl and the goon has to actually corner you, leaving you no other avenue of escape, before you are allowed to take out the trash. Is that not amazing?

      Where is here? Fleeing would have resulted in a dead woman and a huge search for the guilty guy in this case. The law in Texas allows for permit carriers to act to defend themselves or others from attack. The “and others” language is especially valuable in this case.

    Yesterday’s Detroit News had a story regarding an accident/altercation. A guy on a bicycle runs into the side of a pick-up truck. The guy on the bike gets up, walks over to the driver’s window {drive is inside CALLING 911} then proceeds to pummel the driver. NUMEROUS EYEWITNESSES report the driver did NOT provoke/antagonize etc. the driver was getting beat. So, he/she pulled out a gun and shot the guy.

    Just guess who is in jail right now??? Go ahead, guess???
    If you live in a State that respects your RIGHT TO PROTECT YOUR SELF AND YOUR PROPERTY….THANK GOD and throw in kudos to James Madison while you’re at it.

    Its just too bad he wasn’t able to stop the stabbing all together…. But that would have been VERY difficult if not impossible unless you saw the knife moments before the stabbing…

    People get an odd look in their eye when they are about to do something like this… I’ve seen it personally a few times, so now when I see that look, I watch….

    I only hope this woman will be okay..

      Animals are the same way Oni. When an animal or a human get very angry, to where they want to kill you, their eyes go from being oval to round. You can see it in domestic cats quite often when you play with them and activate their hunting/killing instinct. Lions exibit this quite often. Yep, you can see it in the eyes.

      Restraining orders don’t make much sense, it is truthfully just a piece of paper. Obviously the guy didn’t give a rip that she had filed it. The only way a restraining order would save someone in that type of situation is if the cops followed the person around.

    Is this school a private or public school? If its a public school how come they have not arrested the CHL bloke? He is on school property is he not? And if he had a pack of smokes in his pocket doesn’t he get double time and half? Just think he should not have had that firearm anywhere near that school. Some body might just get hurt you know? ok sarcasm off but you get my drift.

    Will the CPL holder be arrested for having a handgun on school grounds? Hope not but I can see this type of BS happening if it wasn’t in TX.

    Another instance where the armed citizenry stopped a crime and more than likely saved this ladies life. If cops were called and no action taken, I’m sure the bleeding to the neck and chest would have surely doomed her especially if the husband had more time to do more damage. Great job Mr. CPL !!!

      Not sure if its still true but here if you reported
      being threatened the police would deliver a temporary
      restraining order and a court date you have to go to the court to extend it.
      that being said if they were worth 2cents to blow them to hell
      i wouldn’t have spent several nights during my youth sleeping on female
      friends couches next to my 12 gauge

    You’re not going to hear this on the national news – only when a nut walks in with a gun and takes out a lot of people. Heard a story the other day about a guy with a concealed gun took down a guy trying to rob a Family Dollar store. I imagine this goes on more than we hear because the liberal media is not going to report it because it doesn’t line up with their agenda. They want to get rid of all guns in this country – they meaning the progressives (communists).

      You are only going to hear about the less than 10,000 gun related incidents as opposed to the over 2 Million foiled assault attempts because the potential victim carried a firearm. I’d like to look at guns from a whole different perspective. If the Constitution is the law of the land, then those who own and train to use a firearm are basically upholding the Constitution. That makes them patriots!

      They’re working on it. I have a small tactical knife and I have to wear it on my belt or else it is called a concealed weapon. I can’t even clip it to the inside of a pocket on my cargo pants with some of it showing. It has to be all the way on the outside or it’s illegal.
