The Blaze has reported the story of Tony Nicklinson before. He is a man with locked-in syndrome — a condition where his mind is completely intact but his body is paralyzed. Nicklinson is seeking the “right to die.”
After suffering a paralyzing stroke seven years ago, Nicklinson can only move his head and cannot speak. He has described his life as “dull, miserable, demeaning, undignified and intolerable.”
But, just this week, he has taken a step that has given him a new communication medium. The paralyzed 57-year-old sent his first tweet from @tonynicklinson using only his eyes. Just what did he say? ”Hello world. I am tony nicklinson, I have locked-in syndrome and this is my first ever tweet.”

The Guardian explains Nicklinson uses software that tracks his eye movements as he glances at certain letters to compose his thoughts. This is also how he can communicate using an electronic voice.

Watch this video of how the tweet was composed:
After just a couple days on the micro-blogging site, Nicklinson has more than 7,500 followers and a slew of encouraging tweets from those who have followed his story. Here are just a few:

Nicklinson has tweeted six other tweets, mostly detailing some of the news documentaries he would be appearing on. With this new found communication medium and all the support he has received, does Nicklinson still want someone to end his life? According to the Guardian, the British man will still appear in high court on Monday to appeal for the right of a doctor to lawfully take his life without murder charges.

Posted on June 16, 2012 at 12:50amI cannot look at the world around me and not see a purpose for the rain, sun, land, water and I can know that I too have a purpose. May my life has as much beauty and purpose as the world God created around me.

Posted on June 15, 2012 at 5:22pmYou can only judge this man until you walked a mile in his shoes. I say, if he truly wants to end his life after suffering so much, then it should be HIS decision to make and HIS alone.

Posted on June 16, 2012 at 12:19pmI assume machines are keeping him alive? Without those machines he’d starve to death. That is what would naturally happen.
Still think he’s “giving up?”
Do not judge.

The movie is also good too.

Posted on June 15, 2012 at 10:00amPerhaps being able to communicate will allow Tony some comfort and a quality of life that will be fulfilling enough that he wants to stay with us for a while yet. This is good news for many people.
