Marc Lamont Hill to O’Reilly: ‘Poor, White’ Janitors Are the Only Republicans at Columbia University

Liberal commentator and Columbia University professor Marc Lamont Hill joked Tuesday on “The O’Reilly Factor“ that only ”janitors“ and ”poor white guys” vote Republican at Columbia.

Hill, who was discussing the supposed anti-intellectualism of the Republican Party, slipped the comments into a moment of lighthearted banter with Bill O’Reilly, when O’Reilly accused him of not actually knowing any Republicans.

Declaring “Republicans don’t pick the smart guy,” Hill explained: “Every time someone comes up who conjugates a verb properly, you know who makes a literary reference, Republicans dismiss him. Look at how you guys beat up…on guys like John Kerry for speaking French, they beat up on Barack Obama saying he’s too professorial.”

“Whenever someone seems too intelligent and actually attempts to make a nuanced argument they say he’s not good enough,” Hill continued. “It’s like Republicans wants someone — they want a cowboy!”

Here’s a transcript of the next few moments:

O’Reilly: “And you came to this conclusion by doing what, a poll? A national poll? I don’t think you know a Republican!”

Hill: “I know lots — some of my best friends are Republican Bill! I’ve even had them at my house,” Hill said.

O’Reilly: “There‘s one Republican at Columbia University and you don’t know him!”

Hill: “All the janitors are Republican!”

O’Reilly: “So the janitors are Republican, that’s nice!”

Hill: “A bunch of poor white guys who vote Republican.”

O’Reilly: “But what if I’d said that about, you know — !”

Getting back to his original point, Hill continued: “If you look at Republican nominees, they’re the ones who people like, they like people who are down to earth, the guy you can grab a beer with.”

When O’Reilly challenged that Democratic voters are the same way, Hill said it doesn’t affect who they nominate for president.

“We tend to nominate smart people. Barack Obama was a law professor. You know we have people like John Kerry, who was very smart, even Bill Clinton was smart,” Hill said.

When O’Reilly brought up that former President George W. Bush bush was a Harvard Business School graduate and a Yale undergraduate, Hill laughed.

“That was white peoples’ affirmative action, he was a legacy!” Hill said. “His grades were two standard deviations below the norm.”

Hill cautioned that he’s not saying “Republicans like dumb people,“ but ”they don’t like people who perform intellectuality in public spaces.”

Watch Hill’s full appearance below, via Mediaite. The discussion about anti-intellectualism starts about a minute in:

Being an educated liberal does not make that person smart or intelligent. An elitist snob is the least qualified person to judge others.

I beg to differ .. he can read a teleprompter well (until the cadence of his speaking becomes so annoying you can’t listen anymore) but off teleprompter he is a disaster. I went to college with guys like him .. they put out that they are smart and then they copy off eveyone else and take the credit. Where are his articles from the Harvard Law Review? … where are his grade records? You can be certain if they were “good” he would be showing them off !!

If O’reilly had made a joking reference about “poor black janitors” they would have tried to accuse the fire out of him over his “racist” comments. Why is it that only white people can get accused of racism. The only reason why today’s so-called “racism” still exists, is that liberal black americans and their leaders have to keep up the victim mentality. If they can’t show that they are not continually offended or oppressed, then they will lose their “entitlements”. The new thing now among black Americans is that they find being labeled “black” is racist. When will it end?

What I find ironic is that many who consider themselves “well-educated” (I assume Lamont does) base their opinion upon the education they have received. This means that they have been educated by others. Those people obviously have a core set of beliefs that influence what and how they teach their students. Therefore, it all comes down to what a person’s world view is and how they answer 4 basic questions as to how they interpret the rest of reality. The Good Book says that there is more hope for a fool than one wise in his own eyes. Perhaps that is because they think they know what in fact they are in error about. Lean not on your own understanding but in all ways acknowledge God. The beginning of all wisdom is the fear of God.

Well said. Egotistical snobs that didn’t get their attitude kicked and now empowered and are above even their own entitlements. Common decency is draining away and now you see it in society, nothing is kind, and people always putting up their guard. There is this illusion in liberal universities that celebrate “diversity” and “free thinking” and turn it into collectivism and anti-religious thinking. And that then turns around and kicks the sheep in their collective asses – as if something was missing and they did “everything right” – I have dealt with this which feels like a hundred times. Keep blaming the conservative perspective which actually invests the core of preserving the future and all people alike in principal, and watch as you get nowhere dummies.

Lamont, you cr@p-filled racist! As president, Bush read several books a week. Take the teleprompter away, and Obum the Regurgitator becomes an affirmative-action cretin. Moreover, Obum is far from well-educated:

      - 57 states
      - Doesn’t speak Austrian,
      – Hawaii is in Asia,
      - “…breaks the BOW” (as in “Obum bowed to a Muslim king, but can’t quote the Bible correctly)
      - Orion (stresses first syllable),
      - “The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries,” and on… and on…. and on ad infinitum………………………………………………………..

But Obum’s worst display of ineptitude and stupidity combined was reading his toast (speech, really) to the Queen from INDEX CARDS. Watch again: http://www.breitbart.tv/awkward-moment-in-obamas-toast-to-the-queen/

I agree. If Obama was really proud of his grades and any other background data he wouldn’t hesitate to show them for one second. There have been many people pointing out that he also wrote NOTHING for the Harvard Law Review and that he was appointed strictly to have an African American face to show how unracist they were.

Mark Hill is part of a left wing effort to try to change the image of black non-intellectualism into a black intellectual class purely by spin alone. They’re trying to disingenuously talk people into the false concept with words alone.

The lefties don’t like how it is always pointed out that only Thomas Sowell, Larry Elders, Alan Keyes, and a few other black people are the only intellectuals in the black community today, so they‘re embarking on an effort to change that image by pretending they’re surrounded by intellectualism, with Obama being somewhere at the top.

Obama is no dummy. But he‘s so far away from intellectualism I’m willing to bet that in the next twenty years some enterprising investigator is going to come up with records that show someone who is far less capable than the image created of him is.

There is something wrong with the quote:

Hill cautioned that he’s not saying “Republicans like dumb people,“ but ”they don’t like people who perform intellectuality in public spaces.”

How does someone “perform intellectuality”? “Intellectuality” is a noun. He might have meant “perform intelligently” or “display intelligence”.

Lamont Hill and Al Sharpton hear a “BIG” word but they can’t use it in a sentence. Perhaps we can change the quote to:

Hill cautioned that he’s not saying “Republicans like dumb people,“ but ”they don’t like people who perform pseudo-intellectuality in public spaces.”

This is a quote from http://www.marclamonthill.com
“Dr. Marc Lamont Hill is one of the youngest members of the growing body of Hip-Hop Intellectuals in the country.”

A STRATEGY TO STEAL THE 2012 ELECTION!
The wannabe tyrant’s strategy is to control all the candidates in the race for President. If the wannabe tyrants control all the candidates, the results of the election will be irrelevant and the American Revolution is doomed.

The puppet media has used a blitz of irrelevant and unsubstantiated allegations to successfully remove the GOP front runner as a candidate. The same tactic can be used effectively against any and all the candidates in the race. If the success of the strategy continues, the puppet media will eliminate each of the candidates one by one, until the only candidate remaining is either ineffective or controlled by the wannabe tyrants.

All the candidates remaining in the race must unite and develop a tactic to defeat the wannabe tyrant’s strategy. This strategy can only be defeated by all the candidates denouncing the politics of personal destruction and conducting a campaign to select a candidate based on the candidate’s ability to disassemble the Cronyism Economic System and return the Republic to freedom and prosperity.

Personally, I am not yet convinced that Mr. Gingrich’s is to goal is to dismantle the Cronyism Economic System. I will be convinced when the puppet media attacks Mr. Gingrich with the same fervor with which they attacked Mr. Cain. http://commonsense21c.com/

We may have to “eat” another election before we see significant change. If we don’t, then we at least are more certain of where this country is headed and will be able to prepare accordingly.

The only thing I’d like to remind Hill of, though, is that being educated does not mean that one is necessarily intelligent – just look at Obama. Book smarts is great in academia where there is no pressure to solve problems or exercise good judgement, but it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in the real, non-Marxist world.

I‘d rather work with somebody that has his head screwed on straight rather than somebody that’s educated because the need to “baby-sit” is reduced to almost nil with the former.

Hill is an academic. He has never held a real job, never worked among the people he says he represents, and never had to test the theories he so loves to espouse. Telling the rest of us how to live is what they do best. And they never have to take responsibility for the outcome of their crappy ideas. “You did it wrong” is always their retort. Sadly, he teaches young minds to think just like him, and he gets paid very well, too.

he did, I usually cannot stand listening to him on Oreilly but last night it was some of the funniest most honest candid commentary. I could not quit laughing, Bill was a good sport of it and it is honestly what that poor misguided guy believes. I always appreciate peoples honesty without worrying about political correctness. thats what we got last night while I do not agree with his liberal views it was refreshing to here a candid approach to his views on race and politics not just using the standard dem talking points

MIDWESTMOM..that‘s Hill’s “job” as a professor. He doesnt’ teach our children anything useful career wise. He teaches them to be angry, deluded, indoctrinated, race baiting lefties. This is why the stinky OWSers want their student loans forgiven…courses like Hill‘s can’t get them a job to pay to pay off the loans.

@Bible Quotin’ The whole point is to not be the smartest guy in the room. The leader should surround himself with smart guys that empowers even more people to think freely and without bias. This is what this stupid “controversy” grows from, an anti-American misunderstanding of leadership in an entitlement society.

Gotta love how this Hill clown says Bush is not smart because of his grades and proclaims BO a genius because he was a law professor.
What were Obama’s grades in college? Oh yeah, we’ve never been given that information.

      amma-k,
Intellectualism is the same as being educated, and being educated or intellectual is not the same is being intelligent. Educated intellectuals apply what is told to them as if it’s the gospal, intelligent people use all resources to find the truth not just what some professor told them to think.
Our colleges and schools hollowed halls of learning they’re indoctrination center where students are taught what to think not how the think. They’re socialist spray shop where liberal professors paint blank canvases where their ideology, not where a student can paint his own canvas based on what they see. A place where free thought is only supported if it fits into the ideology of those teaching. Basicly it educational fascism.

O’reilly is very careful to be PC around blacks. He knows he’s just one slip of the tongue from going the way of Glenn Beck. Fox news is becoming more like MSNBC every day. When O’reilly goes he will be replaced by someone like Juan Williams or Bob Beckle.

Here’s a question………why aren’t white liberals furious at the attack on their intelligence? Never mind……they are a liberal and aren’t as intelligent as they soooooo want to believe they are.

Tell me what we don’t get when Economics Professor and Obama advisor Christina Romer tells us that the stimulus would not allow unemployment to go over 8%? And by the way sport…W. Bush outperformed Hill’s beloved John Kerry at Yale. Come on champ…tell us all what we’re not getting with all liberal academics and Obama appointees I just mentioned?
