Marine Marriage Scam: Lesbian Couple Entered Into Sham Marriages to Collect Benefits

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) — Three Southern California Marine corporals are facing charges of defrauding the government for entering into sham marriages for financial gain, the military said Saturday.
The scam was hatched when a lesbian couple, one a Marine and the other a civilian, decided to live together off base, according to 1st Lt. Maureen Dooley, a Marine spokeswoman at Camp Pendleton.
The female Marine found a male Marine willing to get married, allowing them to collect a housing benefit, Dooley said. The civilian woman also eventually married a male Marine and collected government funds, according to officials.
The corporals, assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Camp Pendleton, will face fraud and larceny charges, Dooley said, adding that other charges could come later. The military did not release their names.
“It doesn’t matter what their sexual preferences are, if they’re violating the law and making fraudulent use of government money, they will be held accountable,” Dooley said.
In addition to the charges, the three Marines could have to pay back the military $75,000.
The female Marine told San Diego’s KGTV-TV Friday that she and her partner were forced to enter sham marriages because the military does not provide allowances for unmarried couples and they couldn’t afford to live off base without the extra money. She and her partner only wanted to “be a family,” she said.
Only married couples are eligible for the $1,200 a month housing allowance.
Even after the military officially drops its ban against openly gay or lesbian members, same-sex couples, even if married, will still not be eligible because of a federal law defining marriage only as between a man and a woman, the Los Angeles Times said Saturday.
The female Marine told the station she and the other corporals could face at least a year in the brig at Miramar, since none of them can afford to pay the government back.
In addition to jail time, she said she will likely be demoted in rank from corporal to private.

No family care plan, no one to care for kids, however he lives with his parents and they take care of everything for the kids. My wife and I fought for 6 years to get the kids but Illinois judges says kids need both parents, but they also need sports so their dad put them in 9 sports a year just so on our week we’d not have the kids. Then being a convicted felon, fraud, he figures out that if he uses his brothers address in Chicago he gets $1900 a month housing and claims he lives there. Army finds out about it and after more then a year of it starts taking it back out of his check. He quits the army, then after three monts reenlists knowing the miltary has shoddy records plus if you are party buddies with your commander… well anyway this stuff goes on all the time and you and I pay for it.

I post on the huffing ton post and this issue would be SO the other way if this were a news item there. They would support the lie and the GLBT status and accuse me of bias, hate, homophobia. If you really want a sense of the reason how these young people come to these decisions go to the huff, create a username and try to interact. You will be astounded! These young gays and lesbians are SO indoctrinated with misconceptions of who they are they are clueless about, truth, respect, and honor it is disturbing. but it is not exclusive of just gays but society in general.

After the marriage, they both have “open affairs” with their own sex. Legal (if not moral) activity.
They then take full legal advantage of marriage benefits offered freely by the Military. Legal socialist benefits.
This sounds more like Ayn Rand capitalism (taking advantage of government opportunities) than the normal US Military Socialism of “paying the married more than the single” based on “need” not rank or merit or service type.
Do you think Marines are too stupid to get maximum benefits allowed? When they fight kill & die for you do you care that much?

In the grand scheme of things, does this slice of the life & times as an (insert label here) American rock my boat? Nope. It does, however, go back to the same, tired song & dance that gays tend to define themselves, above all other interests, talents & careers by with whom they gratify themselves sexually. Time & again, it is evident that is what matters most in their world: Being gay. This would be droll, except that it is so habitual as to now be boring.
There’s a level of hubris there… I suppose it’s some form of defense… that asserts the world MUST never question the actions of gays… even when the expectation is the individual in question has a clearly defined role as a Marine. So, as a Marine, it is made clear to you what is & isnt allowed. Also, as a Marine, gay or straight, if you do something illegal, you will be held to account. If you choose to be gay above being a Marine, that’s fine, but be prepared to own any discovered misconduct.
I’m with you… to a point. I don’t care what consenting adults want to stick (or not stick) into various orifices. Not my business. However, I also believe that if you want to be treated with respect, you don’t bully folks or assert you are above the law. Did these kids know they were breaking the law? Assumption 1 – ALL Marines carry a rifle and stay proficient
Assumption 2 – When Not at War, the US Government allows the troops to live with their dependents. These dependents are not a Right, but they do get Legislative benefits and extra pay for them.
Assumption 3 – Every Generation in the Military has used every single benefit provided, and there has been lots of cases of “marriages of convenience:” not just to get PAY, but to get CITIZENSHIP.
Whether of not our nation’s Finest are sexual at all, there are always ways to “Get Over on the Man!”
Assumption 4- The current population is so IGNORANT of the Military that these social issues seem “alien” to them. Real Vets don’t care so much. Unless they got out because of the hypocrisy!

I remember a couple of times this happening in the Army unit I was in. Usually everyone in the chain of command knows the real situation but for the most part can not do anything about it. Sad thing is that all the soldiers I met that used these “fake” marriages to get off-post housing were shitbags that I really did not want around anyway. I can not think of an instance where some one I respected attemped this. Kind of all goes back to what set of principles you follow. Lying to get more money says more about you than your sexual preference.

We need to get the federal government OUT of the marriage business. PERIOD.
Religious people believe marriage is a Holy institution of God.
Sectarian/non-religious people believe it is a civil contract.
Civil contracts are handled by state law, not federal law.
Religious ceremonies are conducted by Churches.
NEITHER requires federal intervention.
CONSTITUTIONALLY BOUND/LIMITED federal government will keep them out of our Churches, our homes, our businesses, and our bedrooms.
TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY.
A “Fair Tax” will eliminate social engineering via taxes. It takes away the governemnt’s ability to force people to act the way THEY want us to act. It FREES US to live AS WE SEE FIT.

When married by a justice of the peace, etc – the Stte recognizes the “contract”. It does not matter if the Federal government agrees or disagrees with same-sex contracts – they are contracts and they have the force of Law. Same for the Marines and their contract with the government for service. You knew the rules of the contract going in – you broke them, you face the penalties – just like anyone and everyone else. We are a nation of LAW – not emotional/idealogical/religous beliefs. Those are the foundation of a law or why it was created – but they are not LAW.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 9:30amWhen you are in the military you agree to abide by the regulations that are in effect. It seems that LGBT individuals seem to think that they are above regulations.
Recently their was a blog on a Veterans Administration web site from a lesbian that was “celebrating” LGBT month, where she explained she was a SSgt that was honorably discharged because she was outed by a co-worker’s wife.(Which leaves questions of its own). There was a response by another veteran that this was political in nature and that it had no place on an official VA website. Usually columns receive 4 or 5 comments. However, this one received dozens before it was closed down. On doing some research, I learned that the author of the article was a highly visible political activist and that a gay site she was affiliated with wrote of the response and told it’s readers to “flood” the site with comments.
There has also been several Air Force gays that have asked to be released under the DADT policy before it is repealed. It seems that whatever suits them, is the way they act. Their is no moral fiber, or inadvertent mistake made by these two. They should be fined, busted to E-1, serve not in the brig, but at Levanworth and then be dishonorably discharged and made to pay back the US taxy payers.
This is from a veteran that believes that gays should be allowed to serve openly. However, in the military obedience to orders and regulation is paramount.

Thiose envolved in the “scam” should be required to pay the money back, spend at least one year in the Brig or in the Military Prison in Leavenworth, Kansas and be dishonorably discharged. The Marines knew they were defrauding the US Government and that apparently had no meaning for them as long as they could get what was good for them personally, to “ live together off base ”.
These “Marines” have no code; God, Country, Unit and Corps. I speak as a former US Marine that served my country during two wars, Korea and Vietman. The USMC motto “Semper Fidelis” means “Always Faithful”. The Marines envolved failed to live up to this motto and have disgraced themselves and the USMC. As civilians they will be able to live together as they please without being regulated by the UCMJ. This kind of conduct should not be tolerated in the USMC or in any other military organization. The civilians envolved should also be prosecuted for their part in the fraud.

During my Active duty (which ended exactly a year ago) I heard of several cases in which couples got married in the court system, just for the marriage benefits and higher BAS. Some lived with each other others did not. It was pretty common to hear of more cases just before deployment so soldiers could get extra pay. Not much one can do when Enlisted, NCOs and Officers were all participating in it. Id say most soldiers are honest republicans but you can tell who the libs serving in the military are by their freeloading actions.

I did 16 years in the Coast Guard and you are absolutely right, I’ve seen it more times than I care to count. I even spoke up. But was told to shut up about it. It’s officers and enlisted and the abuse is on a huge scale. According to Pendelton BAH rates they were collecting somewhere in the range of $5400.00 a month in BAH alone, that don’t count any medical services the civillian got.

I know some hispanics who DO NOT get married and live as husband and wife with children and the “single” mom collects benefits/services for her children. This needs to be fixed. These programs were put in to help people for a period of time, not subsidize income. Get a second job. I do not put real married military couples under this, they deserve the most and I gladly pay taxes for them.

Most of the girls wouldnt even come back with them. I always thought it was a bad idea because you kind of leave yourself out there come divorce time. You’d have to make sure you could trust her not to go for alimony.

Posted on July 3, 2011 at 10:58amI smell the ACLU in the air .Before it’s over with the Marines (taxpayers) will end up having to pay these lesbos money and probably get promotions ,Maybe a nice cushy invented non-job like “diversity officer”will do or some made up “green”job .I’m seeing a lot of these stupid A$$ jobs being concocted out in the civilian world these days ,I guess to give the useless something to do and keep the gay and minority groups off the companies butts.

I have been Air force and have served with both Navy at Anacostia and Marine at Quantico. — I do admit that Navy fliers are the worlds best (In my opinion) but you should remember that there is a difference in their purpose. — The marines have always been my brothers and we never looked on them as an enemy such as you seem to say. Course I’m an old man now in his eighties but never though of my comrades as kicking my A&&. –

I point out hypocritical service-related comments (usually from people who chose Not to volunteer when they could have) that display lack of insight into Real Military life (not the fabulous “happy all volunteer class” who have no human frailties.)
Thank you for your service, seede. From Satellites to Fighters to Long Range bombers, the USAF is capable of rocking our world as no one else can.
