‘That’s Not Racial’: Marion Barry Seemingly Doubles Down on ‘Dirty Asian’ Remarks

Marion Barry Doubles Down on Dirty Asian Remark with Reason

Marion Barry, the former mayor of D.C., has been combating heavy charges of racism after his “dirty Asian” remarks earlier this month.

In a discussion about employment, Barry said that Asians have “dirty shops” and therefore “ought to go.”

“But we need African-American business people to be able to take their place,” he explained.

Unwilling to let the comments slide, Reason caught up with Barry and asked the city’s former mayor why he needed to bring race into the issue.

“What racial?” he said.  “That’s not racial.”

“There’s a cultural difference between a number of ethnic groups…because of our ‘socialization,’ because of segregation, discrimination, all of this adds to it, and affects every aspect of our life,” he said.

The reporter pressed: “I understand, like, I don’t want to go to a dirty restaurant, by what [do you have to] bring Asian into it?”

“Because the fact is that 95% of the [carry-outs] are owned and managed by Asians,” he responded.

Some say that Barry’s remarks contradict his apology to the Asian community earlier this month, where he maintained that he was taken out of context to be “disparaging [to the] entire Asian” business community.”

Others ask whether a Republican would receive the same media treatment after making a similar slew of comments, or whether they would be shamed and removed from the public sphere immediately?

      Marian – People come from all over the World to live and own a business in America – Some don’t know the Language or understand the currency. They Work and save money – they open a Business and live in the Closest to save money – they work 24/7 at times and within 5 years they pay off the Business and move into a Million dollar Home.

      You should use them as an example to show Welfare recipients how to chase the American Dream – not destroy it or Bankrupt it!

      The American Dream is alive and working for Foreign Nationals – it dead inside your racist group!

      If we could just quadruple the welfare patients Gov’t money checks, snap stamps, free lectric, celly, gas, and rent money, and then give them a business concept and grant money for start up, then surely we could get them off the welfare rolls and let them run some business through affirmative action. Right?

      I remember this guy. Worked in DC back in the late 70′s and was invited to a party by a black coworker. This Marion Barry guy was there. My coworker told me he was an important person, Mayor or some political office. When I saw him smoking pot and doing coke I stopped wondering why DC was such a nasty place. Got to the party during light, left after dark. I’ll never go to 14th and Euclid NW again. I didn’t think I would get out alive. Two cops in a squad car even pulled me over and asked what a white boy was doing in that part of town. “Drugs, prostitutes” they asked. “No, just coming home from a party with Marion Barry over at 14th and Euclid” I said. And was on my way out with a police escort to the 14th St Bridge. Never been so scared in my Life. Not even meeting a bear face to face in the woods.

      If a mayor of any town made a statement like “We need to close all these dirty African ran businesses and replace them with Asian businesses” He would be out of a job in a less than a week.
      Why is a racism an accepted practice when coming from blacks?

    So now you know why D.C. I such a mess. You see what those blacks who want black ‘pow ah’ do with it. This is the best some of them have to offer. America is in trouble because things who imitate people are put into office in the Capital of the U.S. What a joke. This would make the perfect running mate for Obama. Neither have no shame. Those elections could not be straight, and if they are the capital needs to be moved somewhere else. Maybe back to Richmond. Richmond would probably not want it there.

      The fact of the matter is that the reprehensible remarks and or behavior of blacks is ALWAYS dismissed by the vast majority of their fellow blacks because it is the cultural norm to behave in such a manner. Jackson fathered an illegitimate child to his paramour while married… dismissed. Marion Barry was caught in a drug sting…. dismissed. Al Sharpton.. 2 words Tawana Brawley…. dismissed. O.J. Simpson, need I say more?…. dismissed. Black flash mobs…. dismissed. Black on black crime running rampant and destroying whole communities…..dismissed. The media reacts little and blacks in general don’t react AT ALL. But it’s never spoken about and continues to get worse. This is why I believe that if Obama loses in November, you will see upheaval the likes of which we have NEVER seen before. The black inner city communities will view his defeat as an act of racism and will take to the streets to even the score. I purchased more ammo today, I suggest you do the same.

      Good luck Marion. I hope you can find some black entrepeneurs to fill those vacancies. That will be hard to do because the Welfare Plantation model which is indicative of the inner city of Washington and every other major city discourages anyone opening up a business. YOU and your liberal, lefist, commie political buddies are responsible for the situation. You make it impossible for African American, unless they are very highly motivated, to think for themselves, no less become an independant businessman. ANY Ghetto resident who tries to better himself is derided by schoolmates, neighbors and street thugs.

      Asian people came here with NOTHING! They have one thing, however, which the PLANTATION SYSTEM residents don’t have: DETERMINATION! They are determined, through hard work, to make a better life for themselves and their families.

      Mr. Barry, instead of mouthing off at hard working Asian Americans, why don’t you encourage, through education and hands on training, to get poor Washingtonians OFF the welfare roles and teach them business management skills. Why are you not out there trying to dismantle the enslavement to the government model which has existed for so many generations?

      OH YEAH, I forgot, the plantation residents will blindly elect you or any of your cronies. If you teach them to think or become self dependant, you risk losing power to those who will really work for the people. WE SEE WHY YOU DON’T WANT CHANGE! Mr. Barry, SHUT UP! Go find a joint!

    If you reverse “African-American“ and ”Asian” in that paragraph, I doubt you could find anyone who would not say it was a racist comment. If it’s racist in the one direction, it’s racist in the other direction as well.

    Another racist progressive idiot, he wants the “dirty Asian’s” to go and be replaced by blacks, so if he came up with a way to round up all the “dirty Asian’s” and let the blacks run it all how long would that one last, my guess is that everything would be looted in about 5 minutes and nothing would be left.
    I get so tired of these progressive clowns, I guess I was pretty much done with progressives after the stories I herd from family members that survived world war 2, Hitler, was one of the best progressives in history, look at the rest, none of them really do anything good for their country or the people, the special people make billions, millions are killed and the country is left in ruins, we all have to work to stop liberal progressive folks from doing this all over again.

    I was once very friendly with a guy who was a Professor of African-American Studies at a fairly prestigious university. I’m sure he was bringing home a very handsome paycheck, he was a self-admitted communist, and he wore a Che lapel pin on a daily basis. He’d had a number of books published, on a personal level he was an exceedingly nice guy, we got along very well, and because of that I will not state his name here. But, he once explained to me that it was virtually impossible for a black person to be a racist, and that any seemingly racist statements that they might make needed to be taken in cultural context. For the record, I disagree with that position, but I’d be willing to bet that Mr. Barry holds a very similar view…
