Market Strategist: Why Are Our Leaders ‘Trying to Resurrect’ Communism?

Market Strategist: Why are we Trying to Resurrect Communism?

Market Strategist Bob Janjuah

Bob Janjuah, a noted investment strategist for Nomura International, has written an analysis, appropriately titled “Bob’s World: Monetary Anarchy,” wherein he offers his own unique take on the current state of the markets.

Janjuah’s report, which first appeared on Zero Hedge, claims that we are in a bubble. What’s worse, according to his analysis, is the fact that the markets have also become so manipulated and rigged by policymakers that it’s near impossible to predict where things are headed.

He also notes that all over the eurozone, as well as in the U.S., the rule of law has been disregarded for the sake of “political expediency.” He warns that if this sort of behavior isn’t curbed or restrained, there could be long-term sociopolitical repercussions (i.e. the rise of totalitarian states).

Simply put, things look grim and a continuation of current economic and fiscal policies, mixed with a dangerous number of power grabs, will only lead to an increasingly dangerous situation.

His suggestion?

Invest in “gold, non-financial high quality corporate credit and blue-chip big cap non-financial global equities,” writes Gus Lubin of Business Insider.

This is his analysis (via Zero Hedge, emphases added):

In no particular order, my takeaways are as follows:

1 – Greece (and the whole eurozone story) continues to lurch about, seemingly perpetually, from Farce to Tragedy…it seems that eurozone leaders may be about to pour even more taxpayer money down into the black hole that is Greece, primarily to help the banks in Europe, at the expense of perhaps a decade of suffering by the Greek populace. For my part, I am now consigning the Greece/Peripherals/Eurozone story to the box marked “self-serving political debacle” and from here on in I will simplify Europe as follows: Until, and unless, Germany signs up to full fiscal union, a eurozone breakup is likely. And depending on how long we can continue to “kick the can” down the road in order to protect the eurozone banks, the eurozone will be consigned to an extended period of weak growth, which in turn means ever decreasing debt sustainability. Ultimately this means that the end game will simply be more devastating for us all the longer we are forced to wait…

2 – I am staggered at how easily the concepts of Democracy and the Rule of Law – two of the pillars of the modern world – have been brushed aside in the interests of political expediency. This is not just a eurozone phenomenon but of course the removal of elected governments and the [installment] of “insider” technocrats who simply serve the interests of the elite has become a [specialization] in Europe. Many will think this kind of development is not a big deal and is instead may be what is needed. Personally I am absolutely certain that the kind of totalitarianism being pushed on us by our leaders will – if allowed to persist and fester – end with consequences which are way beyond anything the printing presses of our central banks could ever hope to contain. Communism failed badly. Why then are we arguably trying to resurrect a version of it, particularly in Europe? Are the banks so powerful that we are all beholden to them and the biggest nonsense of all – that defaults should never happen (unless said defaults are trivial or largely meaningless)?

3 – More broadly, with Mr Draghi now in situ, it is clear that I misread and misunderstood two things. First, I am simply stunned that our  policymakers seem so one-dimensional, so short-termist, and so utterly bereft of courage or ideas. It now seems obvious that in response to the financial crisis that has been with us for five years and counting, we are being “told” to double up on these same policy decisions. The crisis was caused by central bankers mispricing the cost of capital, which forced a misallocation of capital, driven by debt/leverage, which was ultimately exposed as a hideous asset bubble which then collapsed, destroying the lives and livelihoods of tens of millions of relatively innocent people. Well now, if you listen to the latest from Bernanke and Draghi, it seems that the only solution they can offer up  is to yet again misprice the cost of capital, in the hope that, yet again, through increased leverage/debt, we are yet again “greedy” enough to misallocate capital, which in turn will lead to yet another round of asset bubbles. Such asset bubbles are meant to delude us into believing that we are now “richer”. When – as they do by definition – these bubbles burst, those who have been suckered in will realise that their “wealth” is instead an illusion, which in turn will be replaced by default risk.

Secondly, I have clearly underestimated the ‘market’s’ willingness, nay desperation, to go along with this ultimately ruinous policy path. Personally, I think this is extremely worrying – the number of clients who tell me that they know they are being forced into playing a game that will end in disaster, but who feel they have to play along and who hope they will get out before it turns, is a depressingly familiar old tale. Some such folks hang onto the idea that Draghi/LTRO changed the asymmetry of risk from deeply negative to positive. Yet even these folks know that printing more money/more liquidity/more debt/more leverage is not a viable solution to our ills, and in fact will mean true supply side reform and the search for true competiveness and sustainable growth will be further cast aside, as the focus will be on the “easy gains” to be made in markets.

Why haven’t average citizens learned the lessons of history? Socialism and Communism have always failed and betrayed the people while those who sit in the seats of power become increasingly aloof, wealthy and arrogant. Do we need another American Revolution or Civil War to finally throw them all out on their thick heads?

The American people are fat, dumb, and stupid that is why the country is heading to where it has never gone before. As long as the people have their sports, their beer and their crappy TV shows and get their news from Twitter and Facebook, they will be happy. Alone with a check from the government. Half the population should not be able to vote unless they can tell what century the Civil War occured in or find Israel on a map. Bless the American Education system.

I had to hold my nose to vote for McCain , but he is a budget hawk and American hero. I will not vote ever for Romney. Not because of him, but the fact that his supper PAC is the people that are doing this. Also, his supper PAC has dared rewrite the Reagan legacy saying he was a moderate. A moderate would never have stood in front of russian snipers and demanded the wall be tor down.

A moderate would have never fired the air traffic controllers, 600 ship navy, took on Cuba, invaded Granada, gutted HUD, vetoed budgets, backed glasnost, teamed with John Paul II and thatcher, tried to put prayer in school and tell us how great being American is instead of insisting we are some how marginal or failures. Today, he would probably eliminate the EPA ,especially since states have a mechanism.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for a “federal reserve bank” to be UNBIASED and, therefore, to exercise unbiased monetary policy.
The people who RUN those banks (like our own ben bernanke / fed) are always heavily invested in the markets. As such, their primary objective is naturally, self-preservation – aka, propping up the stock market. When the economy tanked, the stock market did too. (As it should – they go together)
But then, the fed PRINTED money. If you double the money supply by printing it, that causes stock prices to basically “double.” The company’s assets did not increase, nor did its outlook. But, because money is worth LESS, it takes more money to buy the same percentage of the company.

Totalitarianism? How is that under this “totalitarian” government Republicans have blocked every single measure that President Obama has proposed to improve the economy? How is it they have blocked all of Obama’s federal appointments? How is it “totalitarianism” when no Senate bill can pass unless 60% of senators in favor of it, something that would shock the Founders, who were in favor of majority rule.

Hey Monk. How is the transcendental medication going? Are you getting better now?

You have a point, although you‘re confused about what’s been happening in Congress. You’re right – I’ll give you credit for that – we passed the payroll tax cut which gives you another tax break just as the stimulus did. Republicans fought that tax break, one that middle and lower income Americans benefit from. But only because it became so transparently obvious, even to people like you, that the Republicans only want tax breaks for their rich benefactors, and want to balance the budget on the backs of the rest of us.

Meditate on it REALMONK. How much are you willing to give to the richest millionaires of this country and how much are you willing to take away from the poor, to achieve your dream of freedom? If you were a Christian you’d understand.

Sorry, no tax breaks for me. I lost my job in Sept 2008 and I’m unemployed. I‘m not counted as unemployed anymore by the Government because I’ve fallen of the books. No unemployment, no welfare, no food stamps, no anything. I’ve been living off of the money I was saving up for an operation. Yeah, no insurance either. Haven’t worked for a company that had health insurance since 1986. I was just about there in my saving for the operation when I was laid off, only a few thousand dollars left to save. Now, that money is used for day to day living.

In a way I’m luckier than most. When the excrement hits the spinning blades and martial law is declared by BHO… I’ll be well acclimated to having nothing and living off of scraps. I keep my Internet connection going to look for a job and bide my time reading the Blaze and other sites.

      Hey JZS

You are being disingenuous and misleading again. Or at least I think you are.

If you are not purposely distorting the facts, that you mean you are just plain ignorant.

I am assuming you are smart enough to know that the “tax cut” you are referring to is not really a tax cut at all, but rather it is a reduction in the amount of the “insurance premium” we pay for our government mandated retirement pension. And thus we will receive smaller benefits later in life when we retire.

You did know that right? Sure you did.

And I also assume that you know that the evil rich you hate so much do not have enough combined wealth to achieve that mythical balance you speak of.

And you knew that to, right?

So which is it JZS, are you being a typical lying and devious marxist?

Billy, words have meanings. Say you pay a tax, like the payroll tax, and the amount of the tax is reduced. That is know as a “tax cut.”

When financial institutions are making record profits despite a relatively poor, but improving economy, that’s not “communism.” And when a minority party can block legislation and federal appointments with a filibuster simply to try to prevent the President from helping Americans, that’s not “totalitarianism.“ You really should read 1984 and learn about ”doublespeak.” Words have meaning, except in the bubble of the far right, where words mean whatever you want them to.

That was the point of my post.

You see, If you bother to do a bit of research, when it comes to Social Security, the money that gets removed from your paycheck is officially called a “deduction”.

The government does not call it a tax.

      They do that purposely.

Or at least when it benefits them to do so.

They will call it a tax when they want the sheep to think they are getting a “tax” cut.

But otherwise, it is a payroll deduction of our insurance premiums.

Every Conservative needs to wake up to the fact that there are some Dems that are not Progressives and are good for the country, the same with Republicans. We need to weed out these anti-American Progressives from both sides of the aisle, and until we do, we are going to continue to go over the cliff and suffering for all will be upon us.

      @weastcoastpatriot,

Nice try, there is no such thing as a democrat in office that is not progressive.

Fact, the all voted to destroy healthcare and introduce communism.

Fact, they all voted to mortgage our kids with stimulus and ensure communist failure and buy holdings in companies.

Fact all but rep deaf zip a self described progressive socialist voted to bail out wall street. That’s right, a co founder of th progressive socialist caucas couldn’t bring himself to complete communism.

Fact, they all joined Obama in the biggest expansion of government control in history, government ownership + government control = communism.

Yes it is true that some republicans are girly men and some are proof of the peter principal and still a few are on the take but you cannot really point to any that are full blown communist.

Spend some time with a dictionary. Oh and we have to remember there are a number of republicans who hold office that are afraid to do anything because they are scared of their shadow. We call those moderates.

The Democrat Party has been CO-OPTED long ago by the Progressives (communists) and it is now their base of operations. Sorry, but Democrats are tainted beyond trust now.

Republicans presently STINK of Progressives but they are not fully compromised. There is the chance to sweep it out of that Party. THAT is where those who support THE RULE OF LAW of our U.S. Constitution and Life-Liberty-Property have a chance to restore America to freedom and Godliness.

Progressive is the new term for Communist. If by labeling yourself as a Progressive helps you sleep at night, then go right ahead. Labeling your group by a different name does not change your mission and what you are wanting to do to this country.

I pad keeps correcting on its own. It was rep defazio who voted against the wall street bail out and purchase of companies. In addition that vote paved the way for fiat whom was a big democrat backer to purchase GM.

And another thing, it was not a payroll tax cut, it is a reduction in social security receipts. Republicans apparently couldn’t figure that out. But then again the Oregon republican party last year actually hired a democrat party polling firm to help shape the party platform. This is the firm that contributes to the democrat party platform

It’s not about socialism / communism always failing. It’s about power. Socialism / communism are just the ideologies that despots use to gain that power, and once in then whatever happens happens. They won and that will be all that matters to them and they will kill anyone to remain in power. Stalin, Mao, Castro etc. knew this all to well.

Now we have a new crop of despots on the horizon. SOROS, OBAMMY, the CLINTONS, NAZI PELOSI, HAIRY REED, STINKY BAWNEE FWANKS, and list of progressive liberal marxist’s goes on and on, and there is only one way to deal with them because they will never stop. The time for talking has long passed. The time for reasoning has long past. The truth is treasonous within an empire of lies, and that is exactly what Liberal Progressive Marxism is. Progressives are one of 2 primary types of communists.
      Revolutionaries are the other type.

Progressives defeated the revolutionaries in the USA, (why Teddy claimed he wasn’t commie, after all he challenged the red revolutionaries, but he was a liar) whereas in the Russian Empire, the Reds won out, slaughtering pretty much everybody.

They are both going in the same general direction, but the difference is the speed.
It was the progressive defeat of the Reds that allowed them to steal the seat of the libertarians. Used to, there were libertarians, conservatives, and others (who all wound up democrats), then the progressives took over BOTH party leaderships, and turned the seats at the debated into conservative and liberal, using the events of stopping the reds as “proof” that they didn’t want communism. Surprise: they were lying. They were just smart enough to know Americans like to be free, and saw communism for the evil it was, and they knew they had to “evolve” to it, slowly but surely.

Tulsa, I agree, and I wish that more people would look at things in a realistic point of view. That is why I am for Ron Paul, he is a man that sees through the BS and understands a Republic vs. Socialism, of any type. He knows what needs to be done to battle the progressives on both sides of the aisle. I do not care what anyone thinks on this thread, progressives are on both sides of the aisle, granted there seems to be more on the left than the right, but still, we need to weed all of them out and put in candidates that truly believe in our so called Republic of today, and do everything in their power to rid our country of the progressive disease that has infiltrated us for a century.

Are you listening America??? Quit listening to the media, they are not your friends. They lie, hold vital information and try to lead you by the nose, according to the way the establishment wants them. You are being played, and they are so good at it, that you do not even notice. Do your own homework , as Glenn say’s but seems to forget lately, and find out for yourselves. If you believe in anything, and I mean anything; the media tells you, you are being led blind.

Paul warned of what id happening now 2-3 decades ago to the present. He has tried to fight in Wash. to protect our freedoms, butr there have been too many progressives for him to do any good. Let’s give him a chance to do what is right.

      1. I am a vet of 26 years who supports Ron Paul. He is not perfect, but he the best. He advocates for the Constitution, but best yet, he makes the power elites very nervous. The power elites behind the scenes don’t know what to do with him.

      2. It is important to understand that the power elites on the (so-called) left and right want the system to collapse. The Left is for Bolshevism. Learn about Bolshevism in Russia at the turn of the 20th Century. Russia was powerful, producing excess food and had a burgeoning industrial base when the Bolshevics swooped in and destroyed it all on their way to killing more people than any government in history.

      3. On the right, the Carl Roves, George Bushes, Rumsfelds’, etc. are for globalism. George Bush #1 brought us NAFTA, which is based on the GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) which was the internationalists’ model for economic union to dissolve national sovereignty. Europe is collapsing due in large part to GATT which created the EU. Germany, for example, is now a state in the United States of Europe (ie., the EU). The global elites are incrementally dissolving the US now. It is the same.

      4. The OWS has many factions. Some of these factions are good Americans. Others are Bolshevics. We need to extract the good Americans and align with them because they know that corporate elitism and government elitism are two sides of the same coin.

      5. We can win this. Think. Have courage. Follow Jesus.

LOL too. Lean mean fighting machine. Love that movie.

IMHO, RP has some serious flaws no doubt. It is just that the others are also full of more severe flaws. Newt is the typical professor; arrogant, smug, and lives the life of “do what I say, not what I do”. Mitt is uninspiring who is part of the global elites. Rick is ok, but when you listen to him, he advocates what presidents have advocated for the last 100 years, and that is that they have an economic plan to right the economy. Problem is, a President is merely an executive position; it is not a king. We now elect kings. RP understands this. But again, I do recognize he has significant limitations too. Yet, there is probably no purer constitutional heart among the candidates. Obama is not even a consideration. He is a puppet.

The reason our “leaders” want to resurrect communism is because their bosses, the really rich families, believe the odds of them losing their wealth is much higher in a world where the common people have a say in governance and the economy is based on free market capitalism. They know they cannot control the masses in such a world and fear they may one day end crony capitalism. But if they can set up a supposedly communist/marxist world government where all power is held by a few elites (namely them), then they can control the world and protect their wealth even if it means impoverishing the masses reducing overall wealth.

Remember, only the extremely violent and manipulative people rise to the top in communism/bolshevism. This is not a government for the timid. Communists and nazis are very close and are in many ways indistinguishable. Trotsky, Lenin, Hitler, Goering, Himmler, Stalin, etc. all had one thing in common: they would brutally kill anyone in their ways without regard to God and Jesus.

Nancy Pelosi, for example, is a perfect bolshevic. She pretends to be Catholic, but she is not in any meaningful way. She has the nature to order killings. Same with Maxine Waters. Same with Carl Rove. Rumsfeld. Same, same, same. These are people who have already sold their souls. They play the devil’s game and murder to reap earthly power.

Shedding light on these demons takes courage. Do not let party affiliation allow them to deceive you. Stand up to them. The way they get us is piecemeal. If we stand up to them, there will be some who suffer bad consequences. However, we run and hide, we all will suffer those consequences in the end. There really is no choice.

One of the biggest strategies of communism is mis-information. Take the un-employment rate. The way they use it, the best way to get that rate down is to let everyone run out of un-employment checks and the rate will go down. Shucks, if everyone runs out of un-employment checks and new filings were held up we would have a zero un-employment rate. The only ones that get counted are the new filings for benefits. Obama can make that happen before election time, maybe not zero but much lower and you‘ll think it’s a great thing. After the election, turn it loose and watch it spike, doesn’t matter then. Is this a great country or what?

This is what they count on, us doing nothing because Jesus said to do nothing. What good is it to be virtuous if you never confront evil and just sit back and let them do whatever they want? I hear you Mil Dot, but I have another take. “Turn the other cheek” is useful when there is dialogue and an opportunity to teach a lesson to someone. We should never just jump to armed conflict. But I also believe the original commandment was “thou shallt not murder” as opposed to “thou shallt not kill”.

If your family is being threatened, killing in their defense is permitted and not un-Christian IMHO. So too is defending one’s neighborhood, burrough, city, county, state, nation. It is just the same mindful move to armed conflict must be considered. If people are too rash, we spill too much blood, and then it is revenge killing upon revenge killing (see, middle east conflict; who knows where that started?).

Christ taught that most human behavior is wrong and sinful. The wealth battle money, showing off, kids early to drugs, irresponsible sex, arrogance. It is very tough for wealthy people to keep it together and be good people. Some can, most can’t. Human appetites make it so that being wealthy is in many ways a curse, maybe even worse than being poor.

The best people I know are people of faith who have had tough lives. This is very telling about the virtue of Christ. There is a time to love your enemies. Showing mercy is strength, but this must all be done with no compromise on principle.

Thomas Paine embodied said it well: “moderation in temper is always a virtue, but moderation in principle is always a vice.”

All of which will have to be paid back at higher interest rates or thru prices from future inflation at the same time when we have NO SAVINGS and no production capacity to speak of.

Due to being overleaveraged and level of debt takes about $8 in stimulus debt to force the public to create $1 in GDP. It this really the best use of our money? We borrow from China go further in Debt to get a mild bump in GDP and stock prices?

Zero Hedge is a great site to read, but is extremely heady. NoBama and his cronies do not care about the crisis the markets are in, they are only concerned about being re-elected. Not unlike the market taking short term easily obtainable profits at the expense of the overall long term economy. Greece is the current focus but there are many other countries in just as bad a shape with the technocrats/socialists just salivating on the sidelines.
When the Euro was introduced it was suggested at that time by its creators that all of Europe would eventually be brought under the EU. Individual liberty also applies to countries, and as Greece is concerned, it is in the process of subjugating it sovern state to the EU. Merkel sees this as an opportunity to become the queen of EU. Greece is just the first volley. The dominoes are set in place and all the bailout for Greece is doing is providing a short term solution with no endgame solution, so is only throwing good money after bad.
Re the technocrats (currently outspoken socialists): now that they are in place, what is to say they will try to stay in charge, basically making their constitution moot. All according to plan. The enemy within without firing a shot. This could be coming here if we keep increasing the debt, increasing entitlements, etc. If NoBama is re-elected, expect it, as this is the ultimate agenda of the Progressives.

Romney, Santorum or Gingrich cannot get the votes needed. I am from a Dem state and I talk to Dems continually. They all tell me that they would vote for Paul if he gets the nomination, but they will not vote for the other three. That alone should tell everyone who can win by a landslide. Vote for the others at your own peril as most Paul supporters, that I talk with, will not.

Listening to Beck is depressing. He might be wrong in timing, but not by as much as say the Democrats who say this will work & we will 8% unemployment rates or lower. I could listen to a sock puppet like David Gregory. But why? To listen to someone lie to me, give me no useful information & who at the end of the day puffs out his chest & says he did an important job while raking in 30 pieces of silver?

It is not just zerohedge. Rush always points out when the GDP or employment figures are released 1 or 2 months later they are revised in the wrong way. It is a Dog & Pony show for the kiddies (read Democrat voters).

Zerohedge is as depressing as Glenn. I have to go back to the 80s & dig up a business week article about taxation policy used in Conjunction with monetary policy.

      The gist was this.

Raise taxes because you are a ruling class politician & you need to get sh _t done. At the same time inflate the money supply so the average joe ‘feels’ like he has a few dollars in his pocket.

Their comment was the money supply trick wouldn’t work with the increase in credit (credit cards etc).

Well that hasn’t stopped them from trying.

Their global economic models don’t work & neither do their climate models.

Because to display a Red-flag, I seem to remember someone taking a class called “Earth Science” but of course it had been polluted by Progressives, and of course it was more reminiscent of “You and Society.” And It seems to me there was many video’s of apes having a good old time being apes. And then there was the book “Ishmael” that coaxed everyone to have sympathy for a gorilla. And then a lot of emphasis was placed upon the J-curve of population and all the bad things that could happen uncontrollably if it was to collapse. And it seems to me that when one combines all the teachings together, it seems almost as if they were preparing students to die.

“… the fact the markets have become so manipulated and artificial”

That’s the thing that really irks me. How do you reasonably work within these new rule sets in terms of market investing? Is it strictly a game of “anticipating” the ups and downs and betting the farm on it? Can’t really stay out of the market with 0% interest rates probably for the next 10 years.

    It’s crazy.

The reason why the powers that think they be are pushing communism is they think that by “soft selling” it it will work better than it has before. Their idea of “forced equality” will still have the same end result: lack of humanity and no lack of despair.

Why Are Our Leaders ‘Trying to Resurrect’ Communism?

Because Americans are letting them! Because of complacence and egotism!

“Egotism is the anesthesia that keeps people on living terms with themselves”.

We must take care not to become trapped in the imaginary world of superiority and inferiority. There is much more than peace of mind at stake. Much of the harm that is done in the world is done by people who want to feel superior. Why can’t the Jews and Palestinians get along? Why do the Sunni and Shiite factions quarrel? Why do Hindus and Muslims fight? Why does mainstream religions hate Mormons? It is hardly surprising that Thomas Carlyle (1795 ~ 1881) wrote, “Egotism is the source and summary of all faults and miseries.”

But it is not only what takes place in distant lands that we need to be concerned about. We also need to be aware of the happenings in our community, workplace, and family. Those who fall prey to egotism are quick to take offense and resort to violence. Road rage shootings are an extreme example of the possible harmful effects of unbridled egotism.

True, we know and like ourselves more than anyone else, so talking about ourselves comes easily and is pleasurable. But to do so excessively is to ignore others. And when we do so, we deny ourselves of the opportunity to foster powerful friendships and learn from them. For our own good, we need to drop any remnants of egotism.

Unless we can show that Obama is actually a puppet of the power brokers – he will continue the lie that he is “For the little guy”.

Actually, we aren’t trying to resurrect anything…..we’ve been “communist” since the year 1913.

If you look at the 10 planks listed in Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto, then two of them are particularly notable:

#2 A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. -> (i.e. the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution)

#5 Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. -> (i.e. The Federal Reserve)

You’re absolutely correct. The communists took over long ago. The gov’t run school based indoctrination, promises of benefits from the government, welfare, etc. created and pampered the welfare class which put the final nail in the coffin with “The Won”, our very own megalomaniacal dictator, “citizen of the world”. I guess that fits, he’s not a NBC of this nation, that much we know. At least he realizes it, too bad all the gullible nincompoop progressives don’t, or do they?

Global markets have always had the fingerprints of socialism and communism. The real change is that the United States has moved in that direction. Reagan wasn’t kidding when he said the US was the last hope of freedom on Earth.

This is a very fixable problem. You just have to get a true conservative in the White House.
