Marriage Defenders Hacked on Facebook

You really have to wonder who keeps thinking it‘s a politically wise move to hack political opponents’ social media. Whether it is the hacking of Sarah Palin’s email, or of Mitt Romney’s email earlier this year, or the story we are about to relate, the act has universally cast poor light on the hackers and generated sympathy for the victims of the hacking attempt. Yet, for reasons that more than a few people find bemusing, the act of politically-motivated hacking continues unabated.

In this case, the victims of the hacking are two separate Minnesota-based political interest groups and one Senate candidate in Minnesota. Their commonality? They all support an amendment protecting traditional marriage. And for that sin, they were all hacked via Facebook, where each were found to have posted material they simply did not agree with. In the case of the two groups – Minnesota for Marriage and the Minnesota Catholic Conference – the following controversial and extreme passage from Leviticus 20:13 was posted:

If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Needless to say, no one in either group believes homosexuals should be put to death, and have disowned the posting and reported it to Facebook. They have, however, been forced to leave it up as an assist to the Facebook investigators.

The US Senate Candidate, Republican Kurt Bills, did not have anything quite so objectionable posted about him. Rather, the hackers posted a claim on his part that he was about to announce his opposition to the traditional marriage amendment. Bills actually holds the diametrically opposite position. He, too, has reported the act to Facebook.

Both campaigns suspect their political opponents, but have so far been unable to prove anything. Moreover, their opponents have denounced the move.

The local Minnesota CBS affiliate has done a report on the hackings:

    Now it’s spread to the campaign, my daughter’s Facebook account reads that she “likes” Obama and Michele along with two other people who are my friends who I know really do like them. How do they do that? Is it happening broadly? If so, that is a huge dirty trick of potentially immense proportions.

    I call “BS” on the “hacked” part.

    [1] They used extremely easy-to-guess passwords.

    OR

    [2] Someone hacked into Facebook (which would compromise the entire site) and chose ONLY those two groups to mess with.

    OR

    [3] It was someone on the INSIDE at Facebook that did it.

    Number 3 is the most likely scenario. Seriously, other than hacking into a website; does anyone realize just how difficult it is to “hack” into an individual account by guessing someone’s password?

    You can all see my user name. Try and guess the password to my account here (good luck, you’ll NEVER guess it).

    Homosexuals are living in a denial, they lie to themselves and the lie to others. They seek to justify their evil with rationalizations that are distortions of the truth. They have learned how to master deceitful behaviors and deceive others with their false acts which are staged to appear to be goodness and kindness when in fact they are evil and vicious people when they are not being scrutinized. They have gone from being a benign cancer to a highly aggressive form of cancer upon society and will only become worse until we are Sodom and Gomorrah.

      @BenKatz

      On Point! Some people don’t know how, or refuse to think for themselves. Too set in their ways to make a change. “Their Excel Sheet is locked” Which is a sad way to be. We all have more to learn about everything. If you don’t see the world that way, you have no where to go but down.

      People that are homophobic are literally fighting the gay away from themselves. As a non gay person, I have no issues with gays. But if you are not as confident in who you are, It is a basic defense to reject it and push it away (hide behind religion and say its evil).

      Sarcasm Alert: thats what god wants, to segregate us all and make people outcasts.

      Where’s the Love for your fellow man? Gay or Straight, it doesn’t make a difference

      Rant Over

    It is amazing how fast some of you run from the Bible when the more horrible portions are pointed out publicly.

      I don’t run from it. That verse was God’s will at one point in time, with one group of people, the people of Moses, Children of Israel. Who am I to argue with the God of Israel who parts the Red Sea? Or don’t you believe that story?

      I do not run from the bible just because you don‘t understand God’s plan. When you see how nature is supposed to play out, with a man and a woman coming together to create a family, and it is impossible for two men to have a baby, or for two woment to have a baby together, you can see what God’s intentions are. However, since I too have sinned in that I have had sex without being married, who am I to judge them. After all, Jesus stated it best when he said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. What is more, we are not under the law, but under the Spirit. The law is just there to show us sin, so that we can recognize our sin, and repent, and turn from our wicked ways. It is the Spirit that shows us our sins, & helps us to overcome, as we learn to live with the mind of Christ, learning how to overcome temptation, how to do God’s will in the world; and that includes telling people God’s offer of grace is open to even these homosexuals and lesbians, if they repent of their sins and turn to God and submit themselves to His will.

    65mustang- I know you know this just some reaffirmation The answer is yes as long as they try to understand it in context an correlation with the other pertinent verses in the BIBLE. The problem Homosexuals have is they gloss over the part about GODs judgement and his reasons why with Sodom n Gomorah. God Bless

      The problem with h.omophobes is that they gloss over the parts of the Bible they don’t like (the REST of Leviticus) and pick the parts they think allows them to hate. Jesus didn’t die for everyone, excepting the people we don’t like, of course.

    but. but. but. ON THE OTHER HAND. if you sat at our family reunion while our bitter democrat gay cousin and his latest “husband” are there (he has a new one every time we see him) and heard what they said last year to our horrified youngest children (about ‘being gay’) you could fully understand where someone at some point in history wanting to stone the gays to death could come from. and religions being completely out of the picture.

      And if you sat at our family reunion while my bitter Republican straight cousin and her latest “husband” are there (she is now on her 4th husband) having dinner with us extolling the virtues of Newt Gingrich & Herman Cain’s extramarital affairs.

      The difference being, of course, that marriage is ordained of God and two men can NEVER be married in God’s eyes. He has made that clear in the Bible revelations He gave to prophets long ago, and Jesus CHrist affirmed it as between a man and woman too.

    No word yet on whether this will be treated as a federal hacking felony or whether the Justice Department or FBI will get involved. I’m not wondering all that hard, but clearly the best way to understand the intent of God’s word (as opposed to, say, just being clever to make a point) is to steal one sentence in a vacuum out of the Bible.

    Homosexuals really need to read and study the whole Bible in its entirity as well as understanding the culture and the intent (hint – you will need a Rabbi for this),

    If any of you “scholars” understood ancient Jewish wisdom, you would be “singing” a differnt tune. But hey, remain uninformed and keep drawing verses out of context – otherwise – those of us who know the Truth will just continue to laugh at you

      I know that homosexuals should not be “put to death,” but what is the truth and why should a Rabbi be the one to tell the truth? Can’t any preacher, priest or biblical person know the truth.

      @Kaydee
      And to think it‘s not even that hard to look up the context considering it’s the most widely printed book ever. Anyone who bothered to look would see that the Bible mentions homosexuality alongside the laws of incest and the prohibitions on adultery. Add in the taboo of extramarital sex and the prohibition on sexual relations while a woman is menstruating and the purpose becomes quite clear to anyone willing to see it.
