Married Physics Professor Accused of Running Elaborate Prostitution Web Ring

Married Physics Professor Accused of Running Elaborate Prostitution Web RingIn a tale that has a few bizarre twists and turns, a New Jersey college professor has been arrested in New Mexico and accused of operating a prostitution website.

David Flory, who teaches physics at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s campus in Teaneck, N.J, was arrested on Sunday at his vacation home in Albuquerque, N.M. Flory, a New York City resident, was detained on 40 counts of promoting prostitution.

Albuquerque Police Lt. William Roseman told The Record newspaper Flory’s website, Southwest Companions, was designed to give users access to more women once they gained Flory’s trust. The site allegedly offered 200 women up for more than 1,400 clients.

Roseman says Flory told police he didn’t make money off of the website and saw it as a hobby. According to Mail Online, Flory said the site was designed as ”a safe place for guys to find female prostitutes.” Apparently, the professor was very discerning in his membership requirements:

According to police, Southwest Companions was run entirely by Flory, who designed three categories of membership, each of which had to be approved by him.

First-time visitors had to gain Flory’s trust before they could access the website, police said.

They did this by sleeping with one of the girls, who allegedly reported back to Flory with details of payment and the sexual acts performed.

At this point members were classed as ‘verified’, and could access more of the site.

Only once they became frequent users were they upgraded to ‘trusted’ members, allowing them to view the whole site – including tips on how to avoid police. It was at that point that they could also write recaps of their experiences with the women and post the acts committed and associated costs.

Authorities had spent six months working diligently to figure out who was behind Southwest Companions. A prostitute assisted authorities in apprehending Flory and police hope that site users will turn themselves in.

A Fairleigh Dickinson University spokeswoman says the school was saddened by the arrest, but did not say if the professor has been suspended from his job.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Ha! Ha! Doesn’t being a professor pay enough ? Pretty inventive way to add a little extra income, did he recruit his own daughter as well ? Naughty, naughty professor, let’s see if he can bs the judge with an educated explanation on this one.

on the contrary, these women almost certainly were associated with the site of their own volition, most likely got to keep all or almost all of their earnings, and had the opportunity to accept or reject clients.

Whatever your view of the morality of prostitution, there is a vivid difference between this sort of escort and streetwalker or brothel type exploitation.

that’s not to say that either might not be spiritually or mentally unhealthy, but other than the common factor that a sexual act (almost) always takes place, the two have virtually nothing in common.

And not a few women willingly choose to be escorts and quite enjoy the role. You’d be surprised.

I doubt this guy actively recruited anyone beyond those he started with and, if i was guessing, I’d guess he was a poster on some other similar site and just basically created a partnership with women already involved in the trade.

I say that’s on the married person involved to resist it. I’m not necessarily arguing for the morality of prostitution, BUT absent the moral question – why should the single person be denied the availability of a service because the married man might not be faithful to his vows? if he’s a cheater, he WILL cheat – whether there’s an escort available or not.

people need to take responsibility for their own failings.

I ran a prostitution ring, was married, and worked for the state supreme court all at the same time. The stuff I was asked to do for the supreme court was many times more morally reprehensible than anything I did while running the prostitution ring.

I bet he doesn’t lose his job over this if he has tenure. After all, how does his being a pimp have to do with how good of a teacher he is? As a matter of fact the union will probably use this as an example of why the teachers need to be paid more. See what they have to do in order to earn a living wage?

    To: Liberal-Atheist-Critical-Thinker
You asked “why do we have a penis if we are in the image of God?
Wow! You spoke for yourself with that question! Are ye of such little knowledge? Where is your critical thinking?
Science will prove that creationism is real, but not before Jesus proves HE is the Messiah by fulfillment of the prophesies.
The battle between Atheists and Christians is they both have to prove they are right. Science is on the side of the Atheists because God is not a rock that can be proved or disproved, and so therefore they have no proof. So the claim is that God is a myth. However, God is on the side of the Christian’s and those who believe, and through the prophesies HE will reveal is existence and only in HIS time.
God is Omnipresent and supernatural. Science has not caught up to this level of intelligence and God will defy our human logic. If we could box HIM up, he’s not big enough to be our God.
Most Christians were atheists at some point until God provided them some form of irrefutable evidence, usually after praying for it. The evidence is divine in nature and is given as a gift of the Holy Spirit. Atheists don’t understand this concept and consider it lunacy. Christian’s upon receiving it, cannot deny their faith.

Okay smarty pants….. Where is your testable proof that this magical being exists? Oh, I forgot, there isn’t any. Oops! Substitute Tinker Bell or any other grand mythical idea in your thesis above and bingo…. you have god! Thomas Paine was correct when he said: “and man created God in his own image.” Admit it…….

I disagree with the statement that science is on the Atheists side. Atheists believe the world is entirely a random chance blob of material, yet they don’t question the unformity of nature. Mount Hood, do you ever wake up wondering is you’ll defy gravity today? Or if the toothpaste will still come out of its tube? Of course not! Because the universe is not random, it is uniform becase of the way GOD, not tinkerbell, designed it. Science is on the Christians side, and and Atheist will never understand that because they are blinded by their sin and God has not choosen to open their eyes to the truth that is directly in front of them. Also, we are created in His image, not the other way around. He is the reason we are rational people. I’ll pray that you start using the logic God gave you to defend him rather than make a complete fool of yourself.
